Hello darlings! Welcome to Pink-Tutu.com, where dreams pirouette in a flurry of tulle and sequins. It's the most wonderful time of the year - that's right, Christmas! And what could be more magical than a Christmas ballet?
This year, I'm venturing back to 2013. We're slipping on our finest pink tutus and taking a whirl through the glittery world of Christmas ballets a decade ago.
A Time Warp with the Perfect Pink Tutu
Time travel might be a bit of a stretch (unless you count my frequent bus rides from Derbyshire to London!), but trust me, the magic of Christmas ballet is timeless. And believe me, dear readers, this post is full of dazzling tutus, exquisite choreography, and, of course, the Christmas spirit!
Last month, my trusty street ballet performances around the cobblestone streets of Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square helped me earn the necessary funds for a fantastic vintage pink tulle creation. This year, I'm channelled ballerinas like Margot Fonteyn with its simple design and elegant layers of soft, billowing pink tulle. It’s utterly glamorous, a beautiful pink nod to Christmas past.
Dancing Dreams - A Christmas Ballet Review
Let's step back to the 2013 festive season. Ballet companies around the globe were bursting with Christmas-themed performances! Here in the UK, the Royal Opera House was abuzz with “The Nutcracker,” their perennial holiday treat. A beautiful staging, gorgeous costumes (one sparkly tutu-filled ensemble that was almost my colour!), and of course, the captivating choreography made it an enchanting experience. But hold your tutus - it wasn't the only one!
Over in Birmingham, Birmingham Royal Ballet premiered their take on "The Snowman," based on Raymond Briggs’ cherished book. And, just imagine, this production was brought to life through breathtaking sets and costumes, I hear. Sadly, it wasn't in my colour, but if you find any pictures or reviews, let me know!
But Christmas ballets were everywhere in 2013! Even the American Ballet Theatre put on their interpretation of "The Nutcracker," in a stunning version set to Tchaikovsky's music. And you'd be amazed by the range of Christmas-inspired dance shows around the world - from "A Christmas Carol" ballets in Paris, to enchanting renditions of "Sleeping Beauty" in Moscow. There truly was something for everyone, including plenty of pretty, pink tutus.
Ballet Fashion in 2013 – It Was All About the Sparkly Sparkle!
Christmas ballet in 2013 wasn't just about dance; it was also a fashion frenzy! Imagine elegant gowns and beautiful ballerinas adorned with the perfect amount of glitz and glam.
Of course, we must not forget about the tutus! Think ethereal layers of tulle, some even shimmering with beads and sequins, and everything in the colour of my favorite tulle. A dash of shimmering pink is never out of style, especially around Christmas.
A Glittery Reflection on the Ballet World
Now, as the world spins back to present day, my pink tutu has served as a reminder of the magical allure of Christmas ballets. From the shimmering costumes to the vibrant performances, there is simply something special about the festive season’s artistry.
In the current year, there is so much to love in the world of dance! London's Covent Garden is bursting with the vibrant and exciting “The Prince" ballet from English National Ballet and their "Swan Lake". Even The Bolshoi Ballet is wowing audiences with their productions. And don't forget the dance film "Barbie in The Nutcracker," an animation full of adorable ballet-inspired clothing - perhaps, they could be inspired by my tutu creations, darling!
My fellow dance enthusiasts, let's spread the love for Christmas ballet in any form - and, of course, spread the joy of pink! I'm convinced everyone can wear a pink tutu, even for a moment - why not get in touch with your inner ballerina and add a dash of magic to your Christmas season?
See you on the dance floor next month!
