Christmas Ballet in 2017

Post #126: A Merry Christmas in the World of Ballet: 2017

Hello lovelies! Emma here, your pink-tutu-wearing guide to the enchanting world of ballet. Christmas is truly my favourite time of year - the twinkling lights, the festive spirit, and the magic of the stage come alive like nowhere else.

And for this festive season, we're whisking ourselves back to 2017, a year filled with dazzling ballet performances and enchanting fashion. Get ready to twirl your way back to the wonder of it all!

2017: A Year of Magical Ballet Moments

Firstly, darling, what's a Christmas ballet blog without mentioning the Royal Opera House? Oh, it was the place to be this year! They hosted a beautiful rendition of "The Nutcracker", starring a phenomenal cast and some of the most exquisite costumes I've ever seen - it truly transported you to a world of whimsical wonder. Plus, they launched a "Behind the Scenes" program, letting us peek into the making of their ballet magic! How divine.

Now, I always love a bit of street ballet - it's just so unexpected and full of life! This year, a captivating performance at Covent Garden really caught my eye. These talented dancers brought their ballet to the streets, spreading Christmas cheer and delighting onlookers.

And, my darlings, did you hear about Birmingham Royal Ballet? They took the traditional "Cinderella" to new heights with an absolutely stunning, innovative production. Talk about elegance! I’ve just about worn my pink tutus out watching it again and again.

Speaking of ballet fashion, 2017 was a year for unforgettable creations. From the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, the exquisite costumes for "La Bayadère" were breathtaking, combining classic elements with a modern flair. And the "Black Swan" outfit at the Royal Opera House was sheer perfection!

Fashion and Shopping: A Christmas Ballet Dream

Now, no Christmas ballet post would be complete without a trip to the shops. This year, I fell in love with the Ballet Boutique collection - adorable accessories, ballet-themed gifts, and of course, some amazing tutus for all you fashionable souls. Who can resist a good tutu for the holiday season?

Don't forget to pick up a copy of Dance Magazine. They released some incredible features in 2017! Their piece on emerging choreographers was truly inspiring. You can find it online, and in the shops all across the country, my darlings!

2017: A Year to Remember

This trip back in time reminded me of how vibrant and exciting the ballet world truly is. Whether you’re watching the classics or enjoying something brand new, ballet provides such a special experience – one filled with joy, grace, and magic!

Remember to wear your pink tutus and spread the Christmas spirit. Until next time, darlings, Happy Holidays!

Love always,

Emma
