Pink Tutu Time Travels: August 1911! 🩰✨

Hello my darling dancers! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing time traveller Emma, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, where ballet history comes alive! πŸŽ‰ This month we're soaring back to the glittering year of 1911, and let me tell you, it was a time of real excitement in the ballet world!

This month, I'm posting a little late as I had to nip to a gorgeous, glamorous ballet boutique in Paris to get my hands on the most exquisite pink feather boa – you wouldn't believe how incredibly soft it is! (More on that later!).

Before I start our journey through time, you won't believe what I stumbled upon just this morning! You see, I had a rather late breakfast of pink iced biscuits and Earl Grey tea. After polishing off a very impressive pile of biscuits (you should see how quickly they vanish!), I popped on my ballet shoes and headed outside. As I was prepping my sparkly shire horse, Magic Meg (she is SO sparkly – just like her name!), for our trip to the 8th of August, 1911, I spotted an old, leather-bound journal lying just outside my cottage door. I practically squealed in delight - and so did Magic Meg! Imagine, a journal from the very year we were headed for! 🀩

There are just the most incredible things inside, from beautiful ballet sketches to handwritten notes from one of the most famous ballerinas of the day. Honestly, it was like stepping into a fairytale!

And speaking of fairytales, imagine this, my loves – we're heading to the glorious Paris OpΓ©ra Garnier for a truly special performance tonight! This gorgeous, lavish opera house was just teeming with energy and excitement in 1911, and we're right in the middle of it all. 🩰

You simply have to imagine, darling, the gorgeous velvet seats, the delicate chandeliers, the orchestra filling the grand space with beautiful, stirring melodies, and dancers, my sweet dancers, in the most glorious costumes, floating across the stage. Pure magic! 🀩

Just picture this: while we’re soaking up all this splendour, Vaslav Nijinsky – a dancer whose grace was literally legendary – will be gracing the stage as he performs with the legendary Anna Pavlova in the sublime ballet The Dying Swan. 🦒

Oh my, just imagining the audience roaring their approval makes me feel positively giddy!

But back to our journey. After our Parisian adventure, we'll be dashing off to a glittering party at London’s Savoy Hotel. Fancy yourself a little waltzing with the stars, darlings? Then pack your pink tutus! London's high society will be flocking to this exclusive soirΓ©e, ready for a night of entertainment, fine dining and just the most captivating conversation!

However, all that partying is tiring work. Luckily, we've got the chance to take a trip to the famous ballet school in St. Petersburg – the Imperial Ballet School – founded in 1738. Think rigorous training and the most impeccable discipline, but oh, so much history too. These wonderful ballerinas trained tirelessly, dedicating themselves to perfection, and you can imagine the discipline, the commitment, the incredible talent they must have had. ✨

Just imagine what the ballerinas at this school would think about a ballet class in tutus that were actually pink, just like mine, my dears? Now that is a sight to see! Pink is my favourite colour and the thought of a world where pink tutus rule makes my heart soar! πŸ˜‰

But it's not all ballet all the time. As any dedicated ballerina knows, shopping is essential! That's why we'll be taking a pit-stop at Harrods in London for some very important fashion purchases. After all, what's a pink tutu without some lovely accessories? 🌸

Remember that gorgeous pink feather boa I told you about? Just imagine how it would add a dash of oomph to your ballet outfits! It’s simply breathtaking! It’s all soft feathers in various shades of pink – and did I mention the sequins? Absolutely divine. πŸ’–

You won't believe what a sensation it's already causing in Paris! Just yesterday, a French marquise even asked me where she could get one herself. Now if I’m honest, she doesn't quite have the style of someone who should be wearing it – but I simply could not say no to the charm of the woman – I told her I’d send it to her once I got home to England! πŸ˜„

Oh darling, 1911 was certainly an extraordinary year in the world of ballet! Every time I go on a time-travelling adventure with Magic Meg, my heart melts with joy! I truly hope you are enjoying reading my little chronicles as much as I adore writing them for you!

And before I go, darlings, remember you can catch my amazing performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London next month - I'll be showing you what a pink tutu can truly do! Be sure to visit my website Pink-Tutu.com to purchase your tickets – this event is guaranteed to be a pink spectacular! πŸ’–

See you soon!

Lots of love and ballet dust,

Emma xoxo
