Hello darlings! It's Emma here, and I'm positively bouncing with excitement to tell you all about my latest adventure. This month, I donned my shimmering, pink, time-traveling leotard and took a whirl through history all the way to 5th May, 2015. Now, 2015 might seem like yesterday to some of you, but trust me, there's always something fabulously exciting to be discovered in the world of leotard fashion, even just a few years ago!
First things first, my darling readers! It's no secret that I love nothing more than strutting my stuff in a stunning pink tutu, and let me tell you, 2015 was a total dream for the tutus! There was a vibrant, playful energy surrounding ballet fashion that just had me twirling with delight. I was in the mood for a bit of theatrical drama, so my magical leotard transported me to the Royal Opera House in London for the opening night of a new ballet production of "The Sleeping Beauty".
Can you imagine, my darlings? The iconic costumes, the sweeping music, and the sheer grace of the ballerinas. It was like stepping right into a storybook, and their leotards? Oh, they were pure perfection! There were delicate mesh panels, vibrant colour blocking, and shimmering embellishments that just made my heart skip a beat. And to top it all off, I spotted the most magnificent pink tulle tutu in the whole darn production - a delicate shade of rose that truly brought the character of Aurora to life.
Speaking of pink, let me tell you about a fabulous event that was taking place around the world at the time. It was called 'Wear Pink Day' - a day dedicated to supporting Breast Cancer research and raising awareness! The whole world was sporting pink! And what did I do? You guessed it, I shimmied onto a bustling street in Derbyshire, popped on my own fabulous pink tutu, and did my thing, darling. My performances were an absolute joy, and they really did spread a little bit of pink happiness through the crowds!
After a fantastic time in 2015, it was back to my little haven in Derbyshire for me. I do have a soft spot for the little towns and villages that make up the Derbyshire countryside, with its charming little tearooms, cute boutiques and the countryside landscapes. I decided to indulge myself at the most divine vintage clothing shop I stumbled upon. It was packed full of beautiful things! My little heart did a pirouette when I discovered an elegant vintage leotard from the 1950s. The bodice had an amazing detail: tiny velvet ribbons, a bit like a corsage, forming a lovely flower. The shade? Pink, of course! You see, sometimes it really is about embracing the past!
And speaking of vintage, I can't resist a little throwback to one of my favourite fashion inspirations, the stunning Audrey Hepburn. Did you know she wore a custom designed leotard by Christian Dior for her iconic role in “Funny Face"? A masterpiece, and a great example of how even a simple garment like a leotard can be transformed into a statement of elegant sophistication! The more I delve into the past, the more I realize how much the leotard has always been at the heart of beautiful and inspiring fashion, both on and off the stage.
