Pink Tutu Travels: July 2015 – A Twirl Through the Decades!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving ballerina blogger Emma here, back with another scintillating journey through the world of leotards and tutus! This month, my sparkly pink time-traveling leotard whisked me back to a date bursting with dance delights: July 2015! Buckle up, lovelies, as we explore a decade overflowing with fabulous leotard fashions and exciting theatrical performances.

Post number 1879 for www.pink-tutu.com, and what a delight to share with you! You see, the fashion scene was just buzzing with colourful creations and innovative designs. This July was an absolute feast for the eyes, especially if you're as much of a leotard lover as I am!

My time-travelling adventures took me all over the world this time. From the glitzy glamour of New York to the enchanting ballet houses of London, it was an absolute whirlwind of leotard fashion! But let's begin, shall we?

The American Ballet Theatre's "Giselle" was a highlight, darling! The exquisite costumes in that show just had me mesmerised, especially the romantic tutu for the Giselle role, perfectly delicate and fluttering with each graceful move. Speaking of grace, the American Ballet Theatre's "Afterlife" had a stunning leotard design for the leading lady, sleek, contemporary and absolutely breathtaking. Oh, and can we talk about the New York City Ballet's "Symphony in C"? The dancers absolutely glowed in their brightly-coloured leotards and vibrant tutus - such a visual explosion of joyful movement.

But the United States wasn't the only place with dance magic in the air this July. I also landed in London to witness the Royal Ballet’s incredible “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. Just picture the whimsical tutus, the delightful costumes, and the magical, fantastical journey. It was all I could do to stop myself from leaping onto the stage and joining in the fun!

Speaking of stage, The Royal Opera House had a fantastic program this month. “Romeo and Juliet” took me back in time to Verona with stunning classical costumes. “The Nutcracker” was the perfect holiday treat, showcasing stunning Victorian-era leotard styles that took me right back to the romantic world of Tchaikovsky’s beautiful music.

Across the pond in Australia, the Australian Ballet's "Sleeping Beauty" had an absolutely dazzling array of leotard and tutu designs! The iconic princess costume in the finale? Simply breathtaking! A true testament to the enduring appeal of the fairytale!

Of course, my time travel wouldn't be complete without a little window shopping! July was a fabulous month for leotards with some amazing finds. Dancewear Designers of New York were launching some bold new contemporary pieces, and let me tell you, the colour palettes and designs were nothing short of spectacular! I'm talking about playful splashes of colour and sleek lines, just perfect for both training and performance. Over in the UK, Freya's Dancewear were debuting a stunning collection of tutus with an emphasis on hand-beaded embellishments. Such detail and exquisite craftsmanship, you just couldn't ask for more!

I always make a point of visiting dance stores and exploring the newest trends. This time, I stumbled across some vintage leotards at a charming little shop in Soho, London, complete with vintage designs and patterns. It was just delightful to step back in time and imagine the ballerina wearing them all those years ago. You know, a lot of the trends coming out now were heavily inspired by retro styles, proving that leotard fashion is cyclical and full of exciting reinterpretations.

Now, I have a confession: This month's trip involved quite a lot of shopping... you know how it is with vintage leotards. It's hard to resist! I found the most stunning, deep-red velvet leotard with a high-necked, elegant design - oh so very “Gone With The Wind” chic! And there was also this beautifully embroidered white leotard, a true piece of leotard art. But don’t worry, dear readers! My bank account can’t afford too many indulgences, so I managed to make a good number of my street dance performances throughout the month.

Speaking of which! Street performances always inject a little extra sparkle into the month. I can't leave the comfort of my favourite tutu behind, so naturally, my performances were full of pink tutus. But the style this month was definitely retro! I drew inspiration from the 1950s with a playful twist, mixing vintage ballet inspiration with contemporary streetwear. The perfect mix of playful pink and fabulous fun!

As you know, my ultimate goal is to get everyone in the world wearing a pink tutu! Each month, I encourage all of you to rock that pink! Whether it's a fluffy tulle dream, a simple training leotard, or a fun street performance piece, embracing your inner ballerina is always a delightful experience. Let's spread the love of pink and dance with confidence, darlings!

This was an absolutely exhilarating month, overflowing with inspiring shows, beautiful costumes, and wonderful dance pieces. Don't forget, I love to hear from you! Share your thoughts, your leotard favourites, and your pink tutu adventures on www.pink-tutu.com. I'm eagerly awaiting your responses, dear readers.

Until next time, twirl, dream, and sparkle!

With love and tutus,

Emma
