#LeotardHistory during 2015 08

Hello darlings, and welcome to another time travel adventure in Leotard Fashion! August is my favourite month for dancing. The weather is usually warm and sunny, and it’s festival season! I’m so excited to be popping into the 8th month of 2015 to see what’s going on in the world of leotards! As always, I’m rocking my magical, sparkly pink time-traveling leotard. It just wouldn’t be right to travel through time in any other ensemble, especially with my tutu. This month's leotard is extra special! I’m so chuffed that I have added extra embellishment this time. It really does have the wow factor – I might be just a tad obsessed with my pink leotard wardrobe…

Speaking of wardrobes, let's jump right in and see what 2015 has to offer! August is all about freedom, joy, and dancing with abandon - something I am definitely here for! Remember that all those dance competitions and festivals happening in August? This is where my leotard love shines! The biggest competition was definitely the "Youth America Grand Prix" – they had hundreds of young dancers in a range of amazing styles!

As a proud dancer, my heart goes out to all those competing. I don't know about you lot, but I would never be brave enough to stand on a stage in front of a judging panel – they look utterly terrifying! But then again, I always say that to look great on stage, it takes practice, confidence, and of course… the right leotard! This time period saw some fantastic leotard choices on stage. We are still enjoying the high necks and those adorable scoop-back styles. I can’t resist a high neck leotard!

From all those beautiful leotards, a couple really caught my eye. One was this gorgeous deep teal velvet leotard that danced under a dazzling spotlight on a young ballerina in the competition final – truly breathtaking. Imagine yourself in this amazing leotard. It looks and feels incredible. The velvety texture against the skin adds to that ballerina confidence and stage presence – it’s like you’re actually wearing an accessory made for glamour and for making an unforgettable impression.

Then we had that vibrant, coral pink leotard paired with a delicate pink tulle skirt with that shimmery overlay which I could definitely see on the stage of a theatre production – absolutely divine. Pink is the ultimate leotard colour, darling. And pairing it with such a beautiful tulle skirt is just pure dance magic!

It is always delightful to see such talented young performers doing what they love, and these incredible leotards are helping them express their creativity in truly magnificent ways. I can't get over the feeling of happiness that flows through the whole competition. This makes August so much more exciting.

As I always say, dancing isn’t confined to just competition stages; it’s in the streets, theatres, and even in those grand performances on big stages! I love my ballet, of course – a classic performance – but sometimes it’s wonderful to experience other styles. I'm in 2015 – this year saw the opening of the legendary, Hamilton Broadway musical in New York City. Just imagine, this Broadway performance opened back in August of this year. And it looks like it's already going to be a smashing success - talk about historical leotard fashion trends!

There’s also some fantastic contemporary and jazz dance going on around the world - and this is where leotards really shine, don't you think? There’s such beautiful, creative energy that pours out from these forms of dance - and those leotards become more than just garments. They really showcase that individuality, that passion and expression, all of which truly excites my inner dancer. And who would have thought the world of fashion and design would incorporate the wonderful world of dance and movement? It's like two perfect halves coming together to create an explosion of style! I can see why it's become a worldwide phenomenon - leotard fashion is here to stay, darling.

And talking about those big fashion designers, in August, everyone was talking about a truly unique dancewear piece that took centre stage at Alexander Wang’s New York Fashion Week. I couldn’t resist snapping a photo! What I loved most about this piece was the way that Wang reimagined dancewear by adding his bold and unique designs - taking an everyday dancewear item and turning it into a real showstopper.

That classic, simple silhouette of a leotard, but with a touch of Alexander Wang flair? I'm absolutely smitten. He’s captured the core of leotard fashion - that elegant, free-flowing spirit that just oozes with elegance. That’s what I’m all about, right?

Of course, it's not just fashion that captured my eye. In August 2015, some fantastic ballet performances took the world stage - from The Bolshoi Ballet to those classic dance theatres of Europe. You know I adore those classical pieces! You simply can’t get better than a ballet performance by the greats, don’t you agree?

This is the kind of stuff that truly keeps me in that sparkly, time-traveling mood – the joy of watching dance that takes your breath away. Don't forget to follow my travel through time, dear readers. The dance is about so much more than a performance; it's about expression and how fashion plays such a key role in those emotions and feelings - I find it truly inspiring, darling.

Don’t forget my friends! Dance isn’t just about those theatres and performances. It’s something everyone can embrace, from all over the globe, regardless of experience. It’s about fun and freedom! Remember that ballet workshop I stumbled upon in August 2015, right here in London? I felt like a giddy little ballerina all over again, dancing the hours away and soaking in every step, move and twirl. And let’s not forget my love for a good dance performance – so exciting and inspiring.

Dance is about showing your personality and spirit through movement, with no limitations. And those leotards you can find all over the world have the same creative freedom, reflecting all these ideas through design and style. And how about that magical tutu - my must-have for any leotard occasion!

3. And finally… Never Forget Your Sparkly Pink Tutu! – Just like mine! This one goes with any style, and for those who like the drama and wow factor – there’s nothing more dazzling for dance than a sparkly pink tutu. Remember my slogan – Make Pink the New Black. We can make a statement with leotards, and bring the spirit of dance to the world, all the while rocking a beautiful pink tutu.
