Leotard Travels: A Pink Tutu Time Trip to January 2016 - Post #1885!

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink-tutu clad time traveller, back from another whirlwind adventure! This month, we're swirling back to January 2016, a year bursting with incredible fashion moments that I just had to share.

As always, I embarked on my journey in my shimmering, magical, pink leotard (it wouldn't be an adventure without a dash of sparkle, would it?). This time, I travelled in my brand-new "Shooting Star" leotard - the sequined details make me practically float! My tutu this month was a classic confection in a vibrant shade of blush pink, twirling me into the very heart of the fashion world, past centuries and across continents.

Now, let's delve into those fascinating fashion finds from January 2016! First on the agenda: The New York Fashion Week. Oh, darling, you simply wouldn't believe the sheer abundance of dazzling leotard-inspired designs! There was Derek Lam, with his collection showcasing graceful lines and pops of colour, bringing to mind a dancer's sleek movements. And then there was Marc Jacobs - oh my! A stunning fusion of leotards, tutus, and bold patterns, perfectly encapsulating the energy of a contemporary dancer. Such fabulous creations!

But fashion wasn't all about runways, no darling. My heart fluttered with joy as I strolled through London's vibrant West End. Seeing the exquisite dancers grace the stages in their perfectly-fitting, colourful leotards... pure perfection! From Wicked's soaring acrobatics to the elegant pirouettes in The Lion King, the stage lights truly revealed the magnificent designs.

My travels then took me to Paris, a city bursting with haute couture inspiration. Here, the spotlight fell upon Christian Dior. The delicate lines and playful silhouettes of his leotard-inspired creations perfectly mirrored the romantic elegance that this Parisian designer embodies.

And of course, no journey through time would be complete without a brief visit to the ballet archives. I found myself admiring the original leotards and tutus of renowned ballerina, Margot Fonteyn. There was an almost palpable energy radiating from her stage costumes, a true testament to the enduring power of classic ballet elegance. I could almost hear the strains of Tchaikovsky’s "Swan Lake" floating through the air.

Finally, my journey took me to Derbyshire (my home county!), where I felt right at home among the rolling hills and cosy villages. Here, I observed how even the everyday fashions mirrored the growing influence of the leotard – a touch of athleisure in a playful skirt, or the elegance of a tailored dress that wouldn’t look out of place on the dance floor. Fashion is everywhere, my dears!

This month, I encourage you all to find your own "inner dancer" and embrace the playful charm of the leotard. From whimsical twirling on a Sunday afternoon in your local park to the sheer exhilaration of a dance class, the world is waiting to see your style come alive!

Speaking of style, this month, pink is in! A little splash of pink in your leotard or tutu is sure to inject a delightful touch of whimsy to your every outfit. Don't be afraid to experiment! Pink is always a good idea, especially paired with a fabulous pair of black pointe shoes – the ultimate combination! And remember, my lovely ladies, with the right amount of confidence and a dash of twirling, anything is possible!

Until next month, I’ll be on a quest for more sartorial inspiration and new dance adventures. Do check out my blog at www.pink-tutu.com, and join me as we embrace the wonders of fashion history together!

Yours in pink, Emma
