Pink Tutu Adventures: September 2017 – A Peek into Ballet History!

Hello, darlings! Welcome to Post Number 1905 on your favourite pink-tutu-clad time travel blog! It's September 2017, and I’m positively buzzing about the incredible leotard discoveries I've made this month! My sparkly pink time travelling leotard has whisked me to some truly dazzling destinations, each filled with inspiring stories of leotard fashion through the ages. As usual, I’ve been busy showcasing my love for pink tutus and leotard fashion at my street performances. The reaction from the crowds has been simply divine – I’ve had so many people asking about my travel stories, and they were utterly mesmerised by my recent trip to 18th-century France!

This month, my quest for historical leotard glamour led me to the heart of 18th century France, specifically the dazzling French court. Imagine waltzing around Versailles with the very essence of French chic – delicate silk ribbons, pastel shades, and oh, those glorious corsets! Yes, back then, the leotard as we know it didn’t quite exist, but its ancestral form was a sight to behold. It was an era of playful frills and flounces, beautifully constructed garments that emphasized a woman's figure in a wonderfully feminine way.

During my adventures, I got to witness the early days of dance, back when ballet was truly a courtly affair. Imagine elegant ladies and gentlemen swirling across the floor in shimmering fabrics, showcasing intricate steps and delicate movements. It was simply mesmerising! The garments, although quite different from our modern leotards, held a distinct beauty, with the emphasis being on delicate detailing and rich fabrics. It made me think how much the leotard has evolved over the centuries. Today we can find leotards in a thousand different shapes and colors, but back then, they were much more confined. Even with those limitations, there was an incredible amount of flair. And let me tell you, that frilly elegance has definitely inspired my latest pink tutu design! It's going to be an absolute dream - watch this space for its debut, darlings!

To bring a bit of 18th-century French chic into my wardrobe, I decided to try a different spin on the traditional leotard look – think simple yet elegant! So I found the perfect white leotard, super comfortable, but with beautiful lace detail, and paired it with a stunning, powder blue, flouncy, flowing skirt. It was a sensation on the streets of Derby, people just loved the contrast between the classic, elegant white leotard and the dramatic skirt! A real mix of classic and contemporary leotard style.

Oh, but I have some extra delightful tidbits of news about this month! My love for shows just took me on an absolutely magical journey, filled with glitter, twirling, and some spectacular leotards! Remember the magnificent costumes we witnessed at the Olympics, all those athletic and beautiful leotards in colours and styles that wowed the entire world? Those outfits, they were simply stunning, darling! They were a symphony of design, fabric, and colours. They were perfectly fitted, sleek and sleek, with those intricate details like strategic cut outs. A masterclass in leotard design that is. The perfect blend of performance and art.

To get a dose of that fabulous leotard style I treated myself to a gorgeous new leotard in a deep burgundy colour with sparkly mesh panelling. Perfect for my upcoming street performance. And oh, I had such fun in it! All the little ones loved watching my twirls, I just can’t wait to design my own sparkly performance leotard with those fantastic features - think bold colours, dazzling mesh, and, of course, a touch of pink. My goal, after all, is to inspire the world to wear a pink tutu, one leotard-wearing adventure at a time!
