Pink Tutu Time Travel - Post #1935: March 2020 - The World in Bloom! 🩰🌸✨

Hello my darlings! Emma here, from the rolling hills of Derbyshire, and oh my goodness, the world just feels extra magical today! It's the first of March, and I've just come back from a rather lovely trip to 1930s Paris, where the leotard scene is absolutely blooming. It’s just bursting with life!

Today's blog post is about those vibrant, exciting, wonderfully frilly creations – leotards and all the fab outfits that go with them! I'm still buzzing from all the colours, the glitter, and of course, the pink, pink, pink!

Pink tutu'd time travel - You all know I wouldn't be able to resist a little time-travelling adventure in my shimmering, pink sparkling leotard. After a whirlwind street ballet performance in Derby to fund my travels, I’m here to share what I found out about leotard history on the 1st of March, 2020.

And guess what? The fashion is simply divine! We're talking everything from luxurious velvet, soft silks, and the ever-popular satin. And let's not forget the incredible variety of textures – everything from delicate lace and crochet to intricate beaded designs that sparkle like stars! I think my new favourite fabric is tulle. Just divine. It's light, floaty, and oh so very elegant!

Now, you wouldn't think Paris would be a hotbed of leotard action in the 30s. I mean, think about all the fabulous outfits! The evening gowns, the flamboyant hats, those sharp lines and silhouettes – I dream of dressing up like the fashion icons of the 1930s. And I mean, why not! Who's to say I won’t rock a fab 30’s leotard?

Where I found myself, 1930’s leotard history

As it turned out, this particular 1st of March found me at the “Ballet Français”. And oh, it was wonderful. This little ballet studio tucked away in a corner of Montmartre had just the most vibrant pink ballet leotard on display, and all these incredible ballerinas were making them. They used silk, lace, satin, all the works! This little studio seemed to be a real hub of creativity! The girls were all buzzing with ideas, experimenting with different colours and patterns! They told me about the popularity of the "one piece dance costume," a leotard design that took centre stage! Very cool!

But here’s the thing that really grabbed my attention! These girls, the ones I met at the Ballet Français, they were already embracing the concept of the tutu. That's right, those floaty, feathery creations that have graced our stages for centuries were already beginning to take form in this Parisian ballet studio. And while it wouldn't be for a few more years until the " tutu as we know it" truly emerged as the ballerina icon of grace, those women at the studio, their commitment to their craft, their ambition – *it just shone through!

Fashion on the 1st of March 2020 - What's a Pink Tutu Time Traveller to do?!

I am a real believer that everything comes back around in fashion, my dear readers, and it’s really exciting to see that 1930’s leotard styles are making a resurgence in our time! There’s that retro revival, with high necklines, delicate patterns, and some even have these amazing frilled sleeves, that look amazing on any stage! I've even spotted a few ballet boutiques around town who’re embracing these 1930s-style ballet leotards. Talk about timeless beauty!

There is just something magnetic about the 1930’s and leotard style, and I feel it's that sense of elegance, femininity, and the way those designs just ooze that theatrical and performance feel. And that's why we're seeing so much of it on runways around the world right now. And who better to bring this incredible leotard era back into our world than, yours truly, Emma from Derbyshire!

So, if you’re thinking of embracing the "one piece" look in all it's 1930's glory – be it onstage or even just in a fun everyday style - don’t be afraid to try those new colours and designs. It's all about adding your own twist, creating a unique silhouette.

My own signature pink tutu style – a leotard that flows, a tutu that speaks volumes, and sparkles with pure, unadulterated joy. That's the vibe that my pink tutud time travelling outfits always bring. A celebration of all things bright, bold, and oh so stylish!

Get your sparkle on, and until next month, stay stylish my darlings! 💖🩰

PS. If you’re thinking of exploring this style of leotard and incorporating your own "tutu-nique" style - look no further than your nearest ballet store. Trust me, you'll find everything you need there, and of course don’t forget about those classic shops like M&S. There's no better time to find your perfect leotard and express your love of pink – we’re all about fun and joy and being the ultimate fashion statement!
