This month, my pink sparkly leotard has whisked me right back to the year 2036. Yes, I know, you might be thinking, âEmma, whatâs the point of time travelling to your own time? Havenât you seen all this already?â Well, darling, every moment in fashion is a unique tapestry woven with trends, innovations, and ever-evolving interpretations. So buckle up, because todayâs blog is a fabulous fashion fix on everything happening in the leotard world right now!
Firstly, the biggest news â I managed to snag tickets to see âThe Rise of the Crystal Swansâ at the Royal Ballet! And let me tell you, darling, it was an absolute feast for the eyes! The costume design, the choreography, the whole darn show! Just exquisite. There were these stunning layered leotards, all shades of pink and gold, with sequins so fine you could have mistaken them for starlight. It felt like each dancer was a crystallised fairy, twirling through a universe of their own. I nearly fainted!
After the performance, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. Even the Queen herself was sporting a blush pink silk wrap dress paired with diamond ballerina flats, the epitome of elegance! There's no denying it - 2036 has embraced the ethereal elegance of the ballet and its feminine influences have seeped into everyday fashion. I saw more people than ever before donning chic ballet flats with tailored outfits, and those dreamy floaty tulle skirts are practically flying off the racks! It seems the world is finally catching onto the magical appeal of a touch of ballet in their wardrobe.
Speaking of elegant, letâs chat about a leotard trend I spotted during my shopping adventures - it's all about sustainable leotards. Made from recycled fabrics and with ethically sourced dyes, these are definitely my go-to leotards now! I snagged myself a vibrant lilac leotard crafted from recycled plastic bottles - the colour is so fab, it literally sparkles in the light! And the best part? The quality is just as fantastic as any leotard made from new materials, if not better!

Itâs the perfect way to inject some extra glam into your ballet attire, and you're guaranteed to stand out from the crowd! This yearâs international competition, âDance with the Starsâ, saw an abundance of glittering gold leotards with ethereal flowing skirts in deep violet and lavender. It was so beautifully theatrical!
I canât forget to mention the leotard revolution sweeping the street fashion scene! From neon pink bodysuits styled with chunky boots to shimmery silver leotards paired with distressed denim jackets, the leotard is having its moment in the limelight. We are seeing a real merging of elegance and street-smart attitude, with leotards serving as the perfect base for all sorts of bold fashion choices.
And my darlings, letâs talk colour! I mean, what would life be without colour?! While classic black, white, and beige are always fabulous staples, this season itâs all about a pop of unexpected colour! I recently picked up a vibrant lime green leotard and have already been practicing my arabesques in front of the mirror - I canât wait to rock it in my next street performance!
