Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the universe. It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of my Pink Tutu World adventures.
I know, I know, it's a busy week! So many celestial happenings - and as usual, you just know I'm going to be right in the thick of it. Last week I was flitting through the cosmos in my fabulous space tutu, enjoying a delicious meteor shower with some of the galaxies' biggest names (and let me tell you, they are all HUGE fans of pink!).
But this week? Well, this week I'm right here on Planet Earth! It feels amazing to be back, and frankly, a bit of a shock to the system. After all those twinkling stars, a bit of good old-fashioned English countryside is quite a contrast, you know? Still, it's a privilege to experience all that Planet Earth has to offer, especially the exquisite ballet performances that this place is known for.
Let's just say, there's something extra special about a human dancer spinning on a real, bona fide stage, as opposed to a holographic one. There's a rawness, a palpable connection you can feel in a terrestrial theatre - and for this ballerina, it's just magic!
So what did this planet Earth-bound ballerina get up to on May 31st, 1995? Let me spill the tea, my loves!
A Day Filled with Grace & Glam
I started the day in the most exquisite little boutique tucked away in a quaint Derbyshire village. Oh my, the colours! The textures! I absolutely had to snag this fabulous pale pink lace top - perfect for pairing with my shimmering pink tutu for tonight's performance. And for footwear, a pair of those beautiful rose-gold shoes that look like they were made by fairies, because, let's be honest, I'm basically a fairy in pink!
This time around, I'm not just touring with my usual entourage - it's a whole new adventure! You see, I've joined forces with the most fantastic team of planet Earth ballerinas. We are a bunch of sparkly pink-tutu-wearing, universe-loving girls who just want to share the joy of dance with everyone. This week's performance, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," is dedicated to a charity supporting young girls in ballet, and let me tell you, it is a triumph! We are spreading the message of beauty, elegance, and graceful movements with every step, pirouette, and jeté. And as I flit across the stage, it's my secret hope that my tutu and its vibrant, joyous pink will inspire every single girl out there, making them believe that they, too, can be ballerinas, whether it's in a planet Earth theatre or on a faraway planet!
Of Ballet, Shoes & History
I just had to pop into the local theatre's costume shop, right? You know I just love to delve into the world of tutu history! There were so many fabulous garments to gawk at! I had to snag a book of old ballet photographs, showcasing the different tutu styles, all the way back to the original ballet, the "Le Ballet de la Reine," oh, it was a complete fashion frenzy! I must admit, it was lovely to step away from my intergalactic travels and embrace a little bit of history - those old tutu designs were real works of art! It was a lovely reminder that the joy and grace of ballet transcend time and space.
And talking about history - you know my motto, "If you love something, research it!" So I headed off to a lovely, dusty little bookshop in the town and came away with the most brilliant find: a rare first edition copy of "A Dictionary of Dance" by a 19th century expert, written long before humans knew they were a tiny speck in the vastness of the cosmos! I know what you're thinking, "Emma, you have enough books, can you possibly read them all?!" You bet I can, my loves, itâs the same energy I apply to collecting tutus - I love a beautiful cover, it really makes me feel like a ballerina princess, and just look at the gorgeous design of this book! The illustrations are just lovely.
And speaking of lovely things⊠I think I might have finally found my perfect pair of ballet shoes. Imagine! After all my years on the cosmic dance floor, it took me landing on Planet Earth, to finally stumble upon a shoe worthy of a true pink tutu ballerina! They are a gorgeous pale pink colour with delicate pink bows. A match made in pink heaven, you could say! It felt like they were waiting for me. I already knew they were the ones the moment I slipped them onto my toes.
A Galaxy of Grace
Before I fly back to the stars, let's talk about the extraordinary talents I've encountered here on this fascinating planet. We must talk about Sir Matthew Bourne, the legendary creator of contemporary ballet shows. What a fantastic dancer, his âSwan Lakeâ was phenomenal. If you havenât seen it, get yourself tickets immediately. If you think you know what âSwan Lakeâ is all about - think again! Sir Matthew Bourne has turned ballet on its head! And in the best possible way. So creative. So avant garde. Just what the planet needs! And you know what else? He's been a big influence on many of the younger ballet artists out there, proving that there is always room for innovation, imagination and, of course, pink, even in the classical world.
And what's this? Did I see a news story about a famous planet Earth popstar who just performed a ballet-inspired piece on a major music show? Oh, my! It seems pink tutus and ballet steps are finding their way into mainstream culture.
My heart is already skipping with joy. Imagine the day everyone on the planet, everyone on every planet, from Earth to Andromeda and beyond - is wearing a pink tutu! That's what I strive for, every pirouette and jeté! You can call it my ultimate mission, my love letter to the universe!
But for now, I have a stellar week ahead of me. The planets are aligned, the stars are sparkling, and my little space tutu is waiting to take me on the next amazing adventure! I'll catch up with you next Wednesday. Don't forget to check out the blog and don't forget to check out my pink-tutu-filled social media pages for more fun, laughter, and sparkles galore! Until next time, darlings.
Love and tutu sparkles,
Emma
