Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, where the only thing more fabulous than a pink tutu is a pink tutu in space! This Wednesday, we're waltzing back down to Planet Earth after a truly dazzling intergalactic adventure, and let me tell you, this little ballerina has some stories to tell.
Now, I know some of you might be wondering how I afford all this celestial jet-setting. Well, it's all thanks to you, my lovely readers! Your unwavering support of my performances - be it a grand ballet in London, a charming street show in Paris, or even a little twirl on your living room floor - is what makes these cosmic escapades possible. So thank you! Your applause and cheers fuel my rockets, my darlings.
But let's rewind to October 25th, 1995, the date of this particular space voyage. We're talking about a whirlwind trip to the Celestial Ballet Gala on the planet Epsilon, where they were holding a historical tutu exhibition, and yes, I did get to wear my spectacular celestial pink tutu! Just picture this: thousands of years of tutu history, from the ancient Grecian chiton-like predecessors, right up to the glamorous space-age designs of the 22nd century. It was simply breathtaking.
Remember those legendary ballerina stories I always share? Well, darling, Epsilon turned out to be a total gold mine. I even saw a holographic projection of the very first moon ballerina from Epsilon, a real queen of dance from back in the day, who performed on the moon using her fabulous custom moon tutu!
Speaking of Epsilon's legendary ballets, the Celestial Gala was unlike anything I'd ever witnessed. You know how much I love a grand entrance? Well, they didn't just make their entrances grand, they practically took the entire stage! It was a full-blown spectacle - holographic costumes that danced with light, shimmering props floating mid-air, and a score of shimmering celestial sounds that felt like an ethereal embrace. My jaw dropped to the floor. Literally, if I had been sitting down.
Now, let me talk fashion, darling! They are simply obsessed with space-age fashion on Epsilon, and believe me, their pink tutu game is strong. They love their shimmering sparkles and futuristic cuts. The only problem was I had to ship half my wardrobe home in my spaceship's cargo hold, and then some. That trip nearly broke the bank! But it's all for fashion, darling, and a girl can't be picky, can she?
This Week's Fashion Must-Have: The Holographic Glitter Tutu!
Let's be honest, it's a tutu fit for a space-age goddess! The holograms are amazing - I wore mine to a street ballet show in Nottingham. It catches the light so perfectly that even on a cloudy day, you look like you’re shining.
On the fashion front, the most extraordinary thing I discovered is the latest craze - dancing in constellations! Imagine creating swirling patterns with your ballet movements and your outfit reflecting a certain star map, as you interpret a cosmic ballet masterpiece. Absolutely incredible. The idea is to incorporate actual star formations into your ballet. Just imagine a ballet of the Milky Way! It’s incredibly powerful and symbolic. This celestial dance really sparked my creative fire! I even filmed some cosmic choreographic concepts on Epsilon which I will share on Pink Tutu World in the weeks to come.
Speaking of inspiration, one thing that makes this adventure so unique, apart from the gorgeous costumes, is the music! Let me tell you, the soundtrack is simply out of this world! We're talking an orchestra of galactic instruments with the deepest sounds from deep space and the brightest of cosmic twinkling. If they ever recorded and sold this soundtrack I'd buy a copy immediately. It would be a magical album, and my dance music obsession would know no bounds. You see, as well as having my pink tutu, dancing and my spaceship I am a music fanatic, and can listen to all sorts of things. It’s my thing.
Now, let's delve a little deeper into planet Earth and its delightful little treasures.
I know you love reading about my love of tutus, so it was a delightful surprise to stumble upon a wonderful tutu exhibit in a beautiful antique store here in Derbyshire. You'd think in a little shop, on planet Earth you’d just see little black or pink ones… oh, darling! It was overflowing with historical tutus in every colour of the rainbow! There was a lovely Victorian white tulle tutu with layers and layers, and one dating from the roaring twenties in art-deco shimmering metallic material, which just took my breath away. And as I danced through these past tutus, I couldn't help but feel connected to every dancer who had graced the stage in one before. Every pirouette and arabesque. Every ‘en pointe’ position and glorious plié…
Speaking of ‘en pointe’ darling, I have a confession, the tutu museum owner taught me some vintage steps – I am ‘en pointe’ but just barely, as she calls it. Just enough for a good photo op. They just need a little tweaking! And darling, a ballerina in pink needs no reason for another shopping spree! So naturally, I had to grab a few gorgeous items, including the most lovely powder blue satin one! I’m going to have to find a good place for it in my tutu collection, I think, as my little apartment on planet Earth is getting a bit crowded at this point!
And let's talk planet Earth! As we landed yesterday, it felt so familiar and welcoming, almost like a comforting embrace. I'm loving the crisp autumn air! In Derbyshire, everything is a kaleidoscope of russet, golden yellow, and red. Just picture the fabulous autumn foliage around Chatsworth House, one of my favorite locations to wander. Imagine those dramatic sunsets against the red and orange of the autumn leaves... Pure magic. And of course, the quintessential hot apple cider, a must. And if you’re ever in Derbyshire you absolutely have to try one of their hot spiced puddings! They have all kinds!
So, this little ballerina’s planet Earth adventures will continue this week as I explore everything this little blue planet has to offer. From exploring ancient ruins with hidden tutus to performing in the most vibrant theatre productions I will be making the most of all planet Earth has to offer! I just love exploring this little ball of ours, you know. There’s still so much to discover and share on this blog!
This Week’s Planet Earth Plan:
- Shopping spree for new planet Earth costumes! This little ballerina can’t ever have enough costumes, and especially pink ones! The shopping will never end!
- Performance! This week’s big performance will be a Victorian-themed ballet piece, based on a real historical play, A Tutu Story.
- Tutu Exhibit! After all my exciting intergalactic travels I’m desperate to see a real, honest-to-goodness ballet show, so the highlight of the week will be the gorgeous annual Tutu Showcase! And of course, a selfie is in order to put on the fabulous Pink Tutu World site!
- Catching the best London ballet! This week it’s Giselle, darling, in Covent Garden, a classic with its heartbreaking plot!
Remember to share your photos on Instagram! Don't forget the #PinkTutuWorld hashtag, darlings! Let's keep spreading the magic of pink tutus across the cosmos, one dance step at a time. Stay pink, and stay fabulous!
Love,
Emma xx
