Darling readers,
Hello from Planet Earth! This week I'm bursting with excitement to share all about my incredible journey to a vibrant new planet! Can you believe it, I'm just back from a whirlwind adventure, exploring the fascinating dance culture of⦠drumroll please⦠Kepler-186f!
Yes, you heard right! My spaceship, 'The Tutu-ship' (you know how much I adore a good pun), soared through the cosmos, fuelled by glitter, tulle, and sheer, unadulterated joy. This time, I set my sights on a planet light-years away, famed for its avant-garde ballet troupes.
But first, let's rewind a bit, shall we? Because even a Pink Tutu World tour needs some groundings (or should I say 'spacegroundings?') before it takes off. Before launching into my cosmic ballet escapade, I was back on home turf - Derbyshire, England, to be exact - to grace the stage at the Derby Theatre.
Now, the Derby Theatre is a little gem of a venue with such an amazing history, full of talented dancers, brilliant productions and ⦠let me tell you ⦠the dressing room was a vision in pinks and blues, and of course, all the dancers had the most gorgeous, custom-made tutus! I felt so right at home there.
I even popped into a charming little vintage shop in Derby called "The Time Warp," where I snagged a magnificent turquoise sequinned top for a steal! It's perfect for that extra dash of 'something special' for an evening performance. My favourite shade of turquoise has got to be something so closely linked to a tutu. Donāt you think?
And speaking of the theatre, this past weekend saw me catch a truly incredible ballet performance of 'The Sleeping Beauty' at the Royal Opera House in London. It was magical. Those stunning costumes, the exquisite music and the graceful storytelling through movement⦠the audience was mesmerized, just as I was. I always love seeing the different creative interpretations that each ballerina gives to such classic stories. The lead ballerina's pink tutu was particularly eye-catching; the delicate tulle, the delicate embellishment, just a masterpiece of a creation.
It truly inspired me to head out into the vast cosmos with 'The Tutu-ship', ready to soak up some interstellar inspiration. After all, I can't deny my inner ballerina's yearning to share the transformative magic of ballet with all corners of the universe!
But how did I choose Kepler-186f for my cosmic ballet expedition? You might be wondering...
Well, as you all know, I am an ardent supporter of ballet history and, even more so, tutu history. My mission is to champion this extraordinary, feminine, and powerful piece of apparel wherever I go.
As luck would have it, Kepler-186f has a captivating ballet history, known for its diverse and progressive approach to dance forms, pushing the boundaries of tradition with experimental choreographies that defy gravity ā literally. Yes, imagine this⦠choreographies that incorporate the planetās own unique gravitational pull as part of their performance!
Who needs space-time continuum theories when you've got an extra-terrestrial dance routine! I must tell you, I was thrilled by the chance to see these dances firsthand. Their style blends elements of ballet with what they call āCelestial Fluxā movements. This involved graceful contortions mimicking orbital rotations, moonwalking across landscapes and an incredible level of control that defies gravity itself.
On arrival, I was immediately taken aback by the mesmerizing spectacle of Kepler-186f. Lush vibrant hues of jade, emerald, and turquoise swirled across its landscapes, creating a dream-like backdrop that seemed to echo the cosmic movements of their dancers. And talk about a celestial fashion scene! Their street wear is heavenly, vibrant colours, stunning metallics and textures, truly inspired by their unique ecosystem, but all adorned with those gorgeous tutus. You can't deny the universal appeal of the perfect tutu. Itās just like the perfect dress. Something magical.
In a charmingly unexpected twist, they embraced a peculiar ballet practice they call "Tutu-ology." Basically, their dancers wear tutus tailored from incredibly vibrant, shimmering material found on the planet. They call it āstardust tulleā. It was like being in a scene straight from a fairytale! I just couldn't resist picking up a stunning sapphire "stardust tulle" tutu. I have visions of adding a touch of the ethereal to my earthly performances with this gem of a fabric!
And guess what? They also had some absolutely stunning shoes! Kepler-186f shoe makers crafted something absolutely spectacular with vibrant colour combinations Iāve never seen before! But even with the shoes, it's the tutu that's got the real glamour factor, making these shoes work as a dance and fashion combo, the ultimate dance and style statement.
I even had the honour of joining a dance class for their version of a pas de deux - only on Kepler-186f, the ādeā is for 'deformation'. We learned intricate sequences, mimicking gravitational shifts. A challenge at first but definitely an exhilarating experience!
So, back on planet earth, and back in the world of the 'regularā gravity-based tutu, itās been an adventure of a lifetime! Now it's back to the tutu-making studio for a new line. As much as I'm drawn to these futuristic fashion designs, thereās truly nothing like a perfectly tailored classic ballet tutu! But there is definitely a fusion of style going on. You've got to have something extra in life, something new to get your heart racing.
That said, you can find some rather exciting, bright and 'new' fabric choices that are going to feature in my upcoming collections on www.pink-tutu.com, darling readers! I'll share sneak peeks of my next collection soon ā you can get a little sneak peek every Wednesday.
But for now, I must off! I'm off to indulge in a little shopping in Notting Hill to complete my spring wardrobe with some dazzling pieces ā I know a vintage clothing store with some absolute treasures just begging to be added to my collection. I must try and get a few pictures for you! You know how much I love a great photo opp!
And remember my lovelies, no matter where you are on planet Earth or even in space, a pink tutu always adds that touch of magic, don't you think?
Until next Wednesday, darlings, stay bright, stay beautiful, and stay true to your tutu dreams!
Love,
Emma Xx
