Pink Tutu World: Planet Earth Adventures - Blog Post #45

Wednesday 6th March, 1996

Oh darling, you wouldn't believe what happened to me last night! I was whisked away on a cosmic ballet tour!

Yes, you read that right - cosmic. I'm still recovering from the jetlag - which, I must say, is a very different experience on the spaceship. My tutu definitely felt a tad ruffled! I just had to wear my shimmering pink and silver number for this trip. You know, a tutu fit for a galactic princess!

And you just know I had to add a little sparkle - that's what separates us ballet babes from the rest! After all, a bit of glitz and glamour always make those long journeys in space feel more like a dance than a commute!

It was all such a whirlwind! The invitation was handwritten on shimmering starlight paper, and signed by them. The legendary Ballet Galaxy, a group of cosmic ballet dancers I’d only dreamt of meeting! I almost fainted with excitement, you wouldn’t believe!

As soon as I stepped out of my dressing room – which, of course, is colour coordinated, I mean, a girl’s gotta have her priorities! – onto the star cruiser, I was immediately captivated by the view. I’m talking about stars glittering like diamonds, galaxies swirling in mesmerising colours, and nebulas resembling swirling ballerina skirts! I swear, I gasped. It was an utterly breathtaking scene, the kind that makes you want to pirouette with joy.

You know I just had to pull out my camera to capture the majesty of the universe for all of you. A couple of my cosmic fans asked for their photo taken with me and you just had to see the look on their faces! I mean, everyone knows how we ballet girls look our best with a hint of pink tulle. And honestly, wouldn't you wear a pink tutu if it meant meeting a troupe of cosmic ballet dancers? I can’t even imagine! It was simply divine - as if all the dreams and aspirations in my heart were aligning!

Just picturing the audience – dressed in an assortment of colourful costumes (though pink always dominated the ensemble!) – made me so giddy. I had a feeling my new sparkly shoes would be making their debut that night - they were simply meant to perform beneath a celestial ceiling.

The dancers were just phenomenal, gliding across the starlit stage with effortless grace, like galaxies in motion! They performed ballets I had only read about, classic tales spun in the ethereal light of distant stars. You know me - always interested in a little bit of history!

The dance I enjoyed the most? The one based on the famous 'Cosmic Dance' performed by a ballet troupe who lived millions of years ago. The story, passed down through the generations of cosmic ballet, is one of celestial energy and its effect on the movement and expression of their bodies. You know me and all those hidden meanings!

But my absolute favourite moment had to be when they came onstage – the legendary Ballet Galaxy. It was electric - and yes, I took some sneaky photos, sorry not sorry! You won’t see these pictures on any social media until they’ve had their world premiere right here! I know it’s scandalous, but oh, these stories just want to be shared, don’t they?

As for me, I made a few ballet friends, you see, my dancing caught the eye of the Ballet Galaxy – yes! They've invited me to join their troupe on their next cosmic tour! My first intergalactic ballet performance. Now I’m really feeling that excitement – we even have a tutu fitter coming tomorrow. I just have to get to Derbyshire and pack my bag for my galactic adventure. My tutu collection was especially hard to narrow down but a tutu that can be worn from Planet Earth to outer space? It’s all about that perfect balance. Just look at this amazing photo…

Remember, I will be posting a live stream of ‘Cosmic Tutu’ every Wednesday as the universe unfolds in my magical ballet adventures! Make sure to follow me on Pink-tutu.com – after all, a ballerina never lets her audience down!

As always,

Your dear friend,

Emma, from Planet Earth, with love (and glitter).

Oh, darlings, I just had to share some juicy gossip about our world this week! As much as I adore intergalactic journeys – honestly, space travel really does bring on the cosmic fashion hunger– there’s something so comforting about coming home. You’ve got to be ready for that re-entry and the adjustment – that’s my excuse for spending this afternoon indulging myself at the beautiful vintage clothes shop in Derbyshire!

If I’m being honest, there is just something so enchanting about finding a pre-loved vintage treasure - don’t you agree? It's as if you are a piece of history coming back to life, each sequin and feather whispering tales of a forgotten era. Honestly, you won’t see anything quite like it on Planet Earth, but darling, when I spot something perfect for me in that little shop on my home planet - well, I feel as beautiful and sparkling as the most celestial nebulae, don't you agree? You simply can't let an opportunity for a good bargain go!

Did you know that this is actually a place where, rumour has it, that famous ballerina who became the only woman in history to fly to Planet Earth on a tutu... yes, her real one…well she…I was told…. it’s an urban legend…. she actually…. I need to find her! It's just the kind of history that I have a passion for - I'm sure if I'm lucky, this store must hold secrets... a gem like that will make a girl feel oh-so special!

But darling, you want the lowdown?

There are more shows than you can imagine happening this week! We are finally getting a sneak preview of a production that I've been eagerly waiting for! There's ‘La Ballerina,’ with the most amazing ballerina troupe who really know their stuff, but I hear, there will be a lot of specials this week – I’ll be popping out to check out those special ballet shoes for sure…I might even have to ask a friend at the Derby ballet school if there’s a spare ticket…

It just so happens, that on the 6th of March – I simply had to go to the Royal Opera House and witness the incredible ‘Tutu Dreams.’ Oh, my darling, it was simply an absolute treat for the soul – you can just imagine those magical scenes. Oh darling, the choreography? Absolutely breath-taking. We are really starting to see a move towards modern expression – don’t get me wrong I am absolutely enamoured with tradition but some of the moves in this one really did make me stop and think. Honestly, darling, you simply must catch this show – I think it may be my favourite in years! My photos aren't bad either!

Remember, it’s all about having a passion and letting those dreams fly. After all, my journey, from Derbyshire, England to the heart of the cosmos…all because of this love for dance!

You know what they say - keep dreaming those big dreams, my loves! I promise to keep sharing more stories - after all, what’s life without a little bit of tulle?

Your dearest friend,

Emma, with pink, sparkly love.

Oh darlings, what a fabulous day! It's like the whole planet is in the pink today! Or at least, that's how I feel as I've just had my very own ballet costume fitting. But hold on a minute, did I mention I'm getting a custom-made tutu?! I know, I know!

I can already picture it. A majestic, cloud-like pink tutu, crafted with layers upon layers of soft tulle, sparkling with shimmering pink sequins, as the light of Planet Earth, reflected in a million tiny prisms – it’ll make even the most amazing galaxy feel a tad jealous, just wait and see!

Oh, darling, the dressmaker is divine – you just know, when I met her, she knew that a tutu made from the highest grade ballet silk is simply essential. So yes, my journey starts tomorrow, in Derby, but I can't wait for it, you simply can't have a cosmic ballet troupe performing with just one tutu – darling, I need a repertoire. And just imagine the press I can do!

This special costume fitting is what is really exciting. This week has had all my fashion instincts swirling! It seems that our local boutiques, darling – yes, on Planet Earth – have got some of the most amazing vintage and antique outfits from a bygone age - just waiting to be discovered!

Honestly, I think this little town has more potential to be a fashion hub than anywhere I’ve seen! Imagine, what if all my intergalactic travels ended up back here! Who knew the heart of Derbyshire would have some amazing secrets?! It simply goes to show, when it comes to fashion and creativity, darling, the possibilities are endless – as long as you believe in yourself! Don’t be afraid of what might lie just beyond the corner of that shop or tucked away in that amazing archive…

I just popped over to a show this week with a good friend from a school. There are so many people – we must have been dancing at the local park and she took me to see ‘The Black Swan’. She even offered me a lift! You see, on this lovely planet, we have what is called ‘public transport’. A great way to get around, my friend tells me! Oh darling, ‘The Black Swan’, it was just amazing. I know, some of my readers think a good ‘black swan’ story has no place in a blog dedicated to all things ‘pink’. But don’t you see, a little darkness just brings all that shimmery sparkle to life, wouldn’t you say?

That got me really thinking about this show coming up, and the choreography, well, a little darker, as you may have guessed - a real story of deception and beauty. Honestly darling, there’s really something special to see – don’t just go on looks! It really does have a dark side that pulls the heart and spirit back. The beauty of the ballet – all about that exquisite blend of dark and light!

Honestly, we really need more productions that use our ‘Planet Earth’ talent in more original work… and I don’t just mean the dancing, darling, think the set and the sound and that one amazing costume that captures the heart of the piece. Now that, I have to say, would have some real international clout, if you know what I mean…. The visionary work of those from Derbyshire is simply… it will become the most-talked about ‘black swan’ story, you’ll see!

I can’t wait for all of you to hear what happens next week…. it’s going to be big, bigger than ever – as if we were all spinning in the cosmic dance, just wait and see!

Always with a twinkle in my eye,

Emma from Planet Earth.

Oh, darling! My tutu adventure just keeps getting more exciting by the day! The whole process of having a new tutu custom made was utterly exhilarating, darling! We're getting into layers of detail now – I mean, you just have to have a ballet wardrobe ready for a galactic tour. The fabric is even special from one of those incredibly beautiful star dusts in our solar system – you wouldn't believe how much time went into just selecting the right tone. It's the kind of colour that would make every ballerina swoon - you have to be a bit delicate, darling, it’s like something a goddess would wear! I can just picture those light refracting effects… it’s divine. Honestly, you wouldn’t know, we had some great debates with my seamstress – who by the way, you just have to meet her – but a tutu of this quality requires a lot of work to get it right. Just like any artist, the seamstress simply understands that a masterpiece cannot just happen!

I feel really ready now. In the words of those ballet instructors in our town, the place that literally made all of this happen for me. I am in top shape. Ready to embrace those long, tiring days. Oh my darling, if only my friends could see me now, all this time in my training ballet studio – I have so many amazing memories there… all of my teachers, they really have a real heart – they will be so proud of their star!

The other day I took the time to see a beautiful ballet production called ‘Echoes’. It featured some of the best dance and theater students in our town. You really got a feel for the amazing spirit of these dancers – every time I see one of these local productions I have such hope, so much promise that we’ll continue to support the dance world… it’s an inspiration!

This was a performance about this incredible town in the Peak District, where we love nature, darling. I remember it featured that famous story about this ballet star who found her muse from an incredibly big oak tree – how romantic. And just so beautiful! Just imagine that kind of relationship, you can simply get a real feel for what dance can inspire.

I was on top form during my class today, I just had to show them I’m really putting those miles in. That hard work doesn't go unnoticed - it’s really paid off! I've had more invitations to shows, including the Royal Ballet in London – Oh darling, they don't know what's coming for them, I simply can't wait to show everyone! You just know those fabulous dresses in those stunning couture stores in that vibrant city are waiting for my arrival!

You just know that all these exciting adventures have started something wonderful - the beginning of the greatest tutu journey for this ballerina – that was my dream since I started in ballet classes!

With love, a very sparkly heart, and loads of glitter,

Your dearest Emma
