Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #57: Ballet on Planet Earth (1996-05-29)

Oh darlings, how's it going? My dear friend and fellow pink tutu enthusiast, Priscilla, is always telling me to slow down a little, that I'm trying to do too much. Well, to that I say, "Never!" This universe is just begging to be explored and what better way to explore than in a perfectly twirling pink tutu, right?

Today I’m back on good ol’ planet Earth, enjoying a bit of respite between intergalactic voyages. It's amazing how quickly you can acclimatize back to the good old gravity! I tell you, after spending so much time on those weightless moons, even a walk down a Derbyshire cobbled street is a workout. I may need to look into getting myself a bespoke pink space suit. Just think, pink and glittery and extra with a special cosmically-designed pocket for my glitter bomb.

Anyway, this trip to Earth is a whirlwind of fun! My main reason for coming was to catch a ballet performance at the Royal Opera House in London - something I simply cannot resist. This is how I keep myself fueled for my cosmic adventures, darling! It was Giselle - oh, how I love this ballet. I actually gave a presentation on Giselle and the concept of wilis, at my last planetarium show. So exciting! People love my insights on how wilis, who are basically female ballet-dancing ghosts that haunt those who betray them in love, might behave in space!

Speaking of the cosmic connection with Giselle, my recent jaunt through the Ursa Major cluster yielded some truly fabulous new fashion ideas! Do you know how a cosmic swirl, with its shimmering constellations, would translate onto a tutu? Just exquisite! I've already sketched a couple of designs. Can’t wait to make them reality for a big intergalactic ballet competition that I've entered for 2587. It’s going to be fierce.

My life is a whirlwind, a galaxy, a celestial spin, a magical waltz, an out-of-this-world dream - all wrapped in a beautiful, voluminous pink tutu. Life just isn't the same without that delicate swirl of tulle, that airy feel of freedom, that explosion of pink delight. My tutu is my trusty co-pilot, my travel companion, my best friend! We’ve been through so much together, this trusty pink tutu and I!

Speaking of my dear, dear tutu, it needs a good clean. It picked up a spot of galactic slime on my last journey, you see! And you can't travel with a sticky tutu! Imagine the fuss! I have the most exquisite pink dry cleaner in my Derby apartment that deals only in the most delicate tulle fabrics and sequins! A small fortune, darling, but worth it! You’ve got to have your priorities.

But let's get back to the ballet for a moment. Oh, the glamour! My ticket was in a little pink envelope! A cute little touch. Then the whole Royal Opera House... just divine. Think, Les Misérables - but more delicate, with better costumes. Not that I don't like a bit of Les Misérables but the whole opera and the costumes of Giselle, are just sublime, darling. And they’re in the most incredible pink colour. I was in pink heaven, dear, in this beautiful theater of enchantment.

Before I headed out to enjoy the world's best ballet performance, I did make a little pit stop in Covent Garden, as every good girl does before a night out on the town! You can’t take me to the ballet without at least a tiny bit of shopping therapy, darling. And to be honest, with all that interstellar travel, you do find yourself needing just that bit of a retail therapy boost, especially after a big show at a theater where, believe me, everyone has outdone themselves in style, class and sophistication!

Well, that’s all for today, dear readers. Stay tuned for my next blog post - I think I'm going to be whisked off on a journey to the furthest corner of the Milky Way soon! But for now, stay glamorous, keep those pink tutus spinning, and let's all remember to be our very best selves - sparkly, radiant, and brimming with the power to take on anything!

Until next Wednesday!

Much love and twinkling toes, Emma xxx

The Day in 1996-05-29

Today on earth, is the day I am starting to really believe we can all dress in pink. The UK Conservative Party manifesto, launched on 1996-05-29 by Conservative leader William Hague was entitled "New Britain". Isn’t that lovely! Imagine being dressed in a gorgeous pink tulle, dancing with a coordinated team of ballerinas across the land, just spreading love and light and hope in our Pink Tutu World. Now wouldn’t that be truly wonderful.

And so my dear blog followers, with that in mind, I just know this Pink Tutu world is waiting for you and is waiting to see you too!
