Pink Tutu World: Post #58 - Ballet on Planet Earth! 🩰✨

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident Pink Tutu World correspondent, reporting live from… well, Planet Earth this week! I know, I know, such a clichĆ© for an intergalactic ballerina like me, but sometimes, there's just nothing like coming home.

Now, I've been flitting around the cosmos, travelling to all the most fabulous star systems, dancing with aliens and sipping nebula cocktails. But there's a certain something about Planet Earth that always calls me back - perhaps it’s the spectacular array of shops for shopping for tutus! Perhaps it’s the delightful vintage markets full of fabulous pre-loved ballerina shoes and tutus! Maybe it’s the divine tea shops or even just the crisp, cool breeze whispering through the Derbyshire countryside.

This week, I’m actually spending a bit longer here than usual because of an amazing opportunity: Ballet on Planet Earth! It's a series of amazing ballet events that only happens every two years, and this year they've brought out some absolutely mind-blowing talent from around the world!

The event is kicking off this Wednesday, the 5th of June, and I just couldn’t resist being there to witness it! Now, don't get me wrong, the aliens put on some fantastic intergalactic performances - especially the cephalopod ballet in the Andromeda Galaxy, oh my, those graceful tentacles! - but there's something so enchanting about seeing these earthly ballet shows, especially in stunning Victorian theatres! The architecture, the smell of the stage, the audience hushed in anticipation - I could live for it!

This year's show features a breathtaking array of talent. First, there’s the Royal Ballet, performing Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House! My absolute favourite classic! Every time I see it, I just melt, the music, the romance, the tutus! Oh, my darling Odette and Odile, you are everything I dream of! And the corps de ballet? They're like a flock of graceful, white, feather-light swans - stunning!

Next, we're off to Manchester for Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures. They’ve been making waves in the contemporary dance scene, and it's certainly a chance to see something out of the ordinary! Imagine – a modern reimagining of Swan Lake, featuring male swans! Bold, breathtaking, and a touch of naughty - everything I love! And their costumes? You won't be surprised to hear there are some pretty magnificent tutus in the mix!

And last, but definitely not least, we’re taking a trip to Birmingham for a special performance by the Birmingham Royal Ballet featuring The Nutcracker. The most festive and beautiful Christmas classic - well, almost! Imagine a Christmas performance, but with sun-drenched skies, the scent of lavender in the air, and a gentle breeze through the fields - that's Derbyshire for you! I can almost see myself twirling to the music with a little pink tutu under my wings…

However, it's not all about performances! Planet Earth is famous for its fashion and it’s just essential that I pop into my favourite shops. The fashion scene on this planet is just so exciting - we're talking vintage, retro, classic, and everything in between!

I'm starting my shopping expedition at Harrods in London because who could resist? Their fashion departments are legendary, and I know I'll be spoilt for choice. I must grab a new pair of ballet pumps and maybe, just maybe, a fabulous pink tutu or two! And speaking of pink tutus, every self-respecting ballerina should own at least a handful, right? I think it's the perfect mix of feminine grace and rebellious attitude! Imagine the power of a single pink tutu. Yes, that's right, just one pink tutu, sweeping the entire universe with a wave of fashion and style! It's a truly revolutionary vision!

Of course, Selfridges in Manchester is another fashion destination I simply must visit. They've always got a phenomenal range of clothes, shoes, and accessories for a ballerina on the go - like a space-faring ballerina with an extensive travel wardrobe, like myself! Who can resist a bit of planetary chic? Especially after a grand ballet performance! And don't forget Liberty! Another London beauty brimming with delightful, charming pieces to get you ready for the perfect planet-hopping evening - oh, the wonders of fashion, always on-trend and always chic.

Finally, after the dance, there's always time for tea! Because you know what they say, "Afternoon tea makes everything better!". It’s practically a sacred ritual on Planet Earth! Tea is definitely one of my favourite parts about being here! And of course, with tea, we must have delicious scones - especially with clotted cream - divine!

Now, let’s get back to my fashion and ballet odyssey! This is just the start, darlings. My trip has just begun! You know, just imagine… dancing under the twinkling lights of Planet Earth… What more could you ask for? Oh, well, except for maybe getting everyone to join my ā€œpink tutuā€ revolution… I will get the whole galaxy to wear pink tutus! I just know it.

Stay tuned, my dearest friends! There's so much more in store for Pink Tutu World!

And don't forget to catch me on the spaceship to the other planets once this Earth adventure concludes! I can't wait to share it all with you.

Until next Wednesday, Kisses Emma
