Hiya my darlings! It's your girl Emma, back from a whirlwind trip toā¦drumrollā¦Planet Earth! And believe me, there's so much to tell you. This was a seriously stellar experience!
Now, I know what you're thinking, "Emma, you've been to Planet Earth before! Why the heck are you back?" Well, babes, sometimes you need to revisit a place to truly appreciate it, right? It's like when you try a lipstick colour for the second time, you notice something totally different! This time around, I felt like I had a new pair of ballet slippers ā lighter, faster, and ready to take on anything!
My adventures began, of course, on this wonderful Wednesday - June 19th, 1996 (such a delightful date to remember, isn't it?) It was just like any other Wednesday on Earth, but wait for it, I'd arranged to meet a rather fabulous friend who was visiting from a nearby planet. Imagine, me, Emma, a Derbyshire girl at heart, sharing tea and crumpets with a space alien! Don't worry, he wasn't all green skin and tentacled fingers, but a charming gentleman with rather impressive cybernetic implants that added a delightful sheen to his pink tutu. Yes, my dears, even intergalactic travellers appreciate a touch of pink!
He told me some extraordinary stories about his home world ā their version of a Royal Opera House (imagine the cosmic choreography!), and how their version of "Swan Lake" has holographic flamingos! Oh, you should have seen his holographic flamingo tutu! Talk about out-of-this-world fabulous!
Anyway, my intergalactic chum gave me the most brilliant advice. "Emma," he said, "Earth is a treasure trove of inspiration, an absolute masterclass in pinkness!" Now, who am I to disagree with an interstellar fashion connoisseur? He was right, darling! This planet has so many hidden gems of colour. We stopped at the world-famous Liberty department store - such beautiful floral prints and patterns! I envisioned some glorious tutu designs, perhaps a lavender, pink and paisley affair, maybe a celestial pink with stardust accents? The ideas just kept swirling!
Speaking of inspiration, you just have to come see a certain ballet I just stumbled upon! This isn't just your average, earth-bound ballet; oh no, this one features acrobatic dancers from every corner of the solar system! We have galactic leaps, gravitational dives, and pirouettes with constellations! It's called "Stardust Symphony," and I can't get enough!
Now, don't think for a second I'm letting my earthly explorations compromise my own fashion adventures, no way! There's a fabulous new boutique in London, darling. It's a whimsical, candy-coloured delight. Imagine walls overflowing with tulle, lace, ribbons and every shade of pink imaginable! Naturally, I couldn't resist indulging in some new pink tulle, a sprinkle of sequined trim, and a smattering of feathers for my own collection, becauseā¦wellā¦you simply can't have too much pink!
And while I was at it, I discovered a new book on tutu history, my absolute favourite topic! I learned how, long, long ago, when humans on Earth still wore woolly mammoths, people wore things they called āpetticoats,ā which basically foreshadowed our beloved tutu! So, if we think about it, even back in the time of the cavemen and mammoths, tutus existed in a form! Isn't it wonderful how our love of fashion and pink is so ingrained in history?
I think Iāve definitely embraced the āpinkitudeā of planet Earth. Even though the journey to our earthly home can be a bit longer for me than other intergalactic travellers, the excitement and fun really does make it worthwhile. As I mentioned before, my favourite Wednesday tradition on planet Earth is exploring new spots for ballet performances. The beauty and energy from watching live ballet always inspires me to dance and I love seeing the costumes and creative set designs. And it doesn't hurt that ballet performance is how I fund my intergalactic adventures. Now that's what I call āa passion for dancing!ā
You know I wouldnāt miss sharing a little something for you to put in your diary, dears. Here's what else is going on this fabulous Wednesday:
- The British Museum is hosting a special exhibition showcasing Ancient Egyptian dance traditions. Imagine: pyramids, hieroglyphics, and dance! Now that's something thatāll send your senses into orbit!
- There's a vintage fashion market just a hop skip and jump away, filled with unique vintage clothing! Imagine, a world of tutus gone by!
- And to top it off, there's a free ballet lesson in Hyde Park! Doesnāt it sound absolutely darling? If you're feeling a bit fancy-free, why not hop over there and twirl?
Okay, darlings, Iām off to plan my next intergalactic adventure, but until next Wednesday, remember⦠Be bold! Be beautiful! And most importantly, be pink!
Your Tutu Twin,
Emma
