Hello darlings! Itās your favourite tutu-tastic traveller, Emma, bringing you another installment of Pink Tutu World! This week, we're shimmying, swirling, and pirouetting right here on Planet Earth ā a bit of a change from my usual intergalactic escapades, but one Iām rather enjoying!
The date is November 18th, 1998 ā a glorious autumnal day, the kind that makes you want to slip into a cashmere sweater, put on a bit of lipstick, and grab a latte (double sugar, please!). Thereās a crispness in the air, the kind that only autumn can offer, and a vibrant symphony of colours in the trees outside my little Derbyshire cottage.
Back to Earth for a Tutu-ful Treat
Yes, Iām back in good old Blighty for a few weeks, catching up on some planet earth ballet. It's been a while since I've graced the stages of this world, but I must say, the artistic landscape is looking fabulous!
You know, I often get asked why I always travel in my pink tutu. The answer, my dear readers, is quite simple: why not? Itās the ultimate expression of elegance, grace, and a splash of joy in a universe that can be quite, well, beige. You could say Iām making a statement: Embrace the pink! Celebrate the tutus! Dance your heart out!
Now, if youāre in the mood for some truly spectacular ballet, I urge you to check out the Royal Opera Houseās website. Theyāve got a jam-packed season ahead, and if youāre in London, do not miss their current run of āThe Sleeping Beautyā. Oh, the costumes! The music! It truly is a dazzling display of classical elegance.
Tutu Shopping!
Speaking of costumes, darling, my visit back home just wouldnāt be complete without a trip to Liberty. Yes, Iāve been known to treat myself to a new tutu every now and then. I believe every ballet lover deserves to feel like a princess, and a tutu is the ultimate royal accessory, donāt you agree?
Of course, a tutu enthusiast needs more than just a sparkly outfit. The right shoes are key, and no one does shoes quite like Sophia Webster. My new āThe Duchessā shoes have me feeling positively regal, especially with their sparkling gem-like detailing!
The Art of Fashion
For me, ballet and fashion are intertwined. There's an artistry, a story in every fabric, every cut, every flourish. And just like ballet, fashion can be a platform for creativity, self-expression, and pure joy. I always love to incorporate my own personal style into my tutu creations, adding a dash of flair here and a sprinkle of whimsy there. And always, always, the pink!
Speaking of my pink outfits, my friend Florence from The Couture Tutu House in Kensington has been busy creating some sensational new looks. She has an eye for detail and an incredible knack for transforming ordinary fabric into tutus that would make even a ballerina on the moon say "Oh la la!". She just launched her latest collection, "Pink Universe" which you can find on her website ā I highly recommend you take a look!
And Now for Something Totally Differentā¦
Oh, but it's not all about high-class ballet and couture creations here. One of the things I love most about my little life in a tutu is experiencing the diversity of the planet. Today, I plan on taking a trip to a local village fair in the heart of Derbyshire. Imagine, a little tutu amongst a crowd of sheepdogs, local crafts, and a giant baked potato stall. What fun!
There's something about stepping away from the bright lights and grand theaters, about seeing the world from a different perspective that truly inspires me. I can't wait to see what surprises this village fair holds for me, and who knows? Perhaps Iāll find a little pink something something for my collection.
Tutu Travels in My Diary
Hereās a little peek into whatās going on in my intergalactic life. The diary is my favourite way of tracking where Iāve been and who I've met along the way, and it gives me some great inspiration for my blog posts, too!
17th November, 1998: A Tutu Performance in Venice - After the glamour of Milan Fashion Week, I took to the canals of Venice in my āLagoon Lilyā tutu ā a shimmering creation with pearl and silver details. I waltzed my way across the bridges to the applause of an Italian crowd ā they do adore a pink tutu! *
18th November, 1998: Planet Earth Fashion Fiasco - I landed in the heart of Soho, London for some vintage shopping. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that a local fashion boutique refused to display my āQueen Beeā tutu in their window display. How can you not adore a bit of sparkle? Thankfully, Iām not easily discouraged! I popped into the Royal Opera House shop to buy a rather charming pink ballerina key chain to brighten my day. It was lovely to chat with a real ballerina there; I love hearing about the hard work that goes into being a professional dancer. The commitment these ballerinas have to their craft truly inspires me! *
- 19th November, 1998: The Milky Way Gala - A star-studded affair! Iām on my way to an interstellar charity ball held in a glitzy corner of the Andromeda Galaxy! Iām already packing my āCosmic Waltzā tutu (inspired by the stunning nebulae). I must say, intergalactic ballet has its own special magic ā dancers flitting through fields of starlight⦠it's a truly breathtaking experience!
I hope this weekās blog post has filled your hearts with joy and your imagination with pink fluff! Until next time, stay fabulous and dance on, my dears!
Donāt forget to check back here next Wednesday for another instalment of Pink Tutu World!
