Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad, space-travelling ballerina, Emma, back with another entry from my adventures in the cosmos. This week, we're heading back to the familiar ground (well, familiar if you consider planet Earth as such) ofâŚPlanet Earth! Yes, it's true, my dear readers, even a celestial traveller like myself needs a bit of home-cooked comfort food (think cucumber sandwiches and Earl Grey tea) and the feeling of the sun on my face occasionally!
Now, I wouldnât be true to myself (or to my blog's dedication to all things pink and fluffy) if I didnât dedicate this post to something absolutely dazzling - my recent foray into the London theatre scene. It was simply fabulous. You see, London, dear readers, is the place for theatre, especially for ballet, and Iâve just fallen in love all over again.
This trip marked the perfect opportunity to catch up on all the latest ballet happenings - there was just so much on, my head was spinning! The Royal Ballet were doing Giselle â I'm still reminiscing about those beautiful costumes and the breathtaking choreography, such elegance! And over at the Sadler's Wells, there was Matilda the Musical, which, whilst not strictly ballet, still contained so many dazzling performance pieces, truly spectacular!
You wouldnât believe the amount of exquisite tutus on display! We're talking swathes of tulle, vibrant colours, and those magnificent pointe shoes that were literally flying through the air â absolutely dreamy! Honestly, darling, you could feel the magic in the air, and you could definitely see it in every movement.
And speaking of ballet shoes, my darling friend Felicity has just opened a brand new boutique in Kensington (oh, how fabulous), called âThe Dancing Shoe Emporiumâ. The whole shop was decked out in shades of pink and cream with a chandelier of twinkling pointe shoes, utterly divine. The shop itself is as heavenly as the dancing shoes they sell, and the prices were so very reasonable. Itâs not easy being a dancer on the go (especially with a penchant for buying new pointe shoes wherever I travel!), so thank goodness Felicity was on hand with an endless supply of pretty footwear for me!
Now, whatâs a day out at the theatre without some post-show indulgence? We headed to The Ritz for a spot of high tea - a symphony of miniature sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and jam, and an assortment of cakes and pastries, all accompanied by piping hot tea.
I truly couldnât resist slipping into an exquisitely cut vintage pink satin dress for the occasion, adorned with a stunning pearl necklace and my new feathered fascinator (you can find it online, darling, at www.whimsy-vintage.com â do indulge, itâs the perfect accessory for any ballerina).
Letâs face it, darling, everyone needs a bit of vintage glam in their lives. But my favourite outfit change of the day was back in my familiar space-travelling uniform, a sparkling silver jumpsuit paired with my signature pink tutu and custom-made intergalactic space boots. Très chic and practical - for every celestial occasion, of course.
But for now, I must go. The stars are calling me, as I need to head back to the International Space Station to finish my next performance schedule! My ballet performances are what fuel my travel addiction and letâs be honest - itâs the perfect job for an enthusiastic intergalactic ballerina, like myself. I'm also putting together a special "Tutus Around the World" exhibition next year! So do stay tuned, darlings, I promise itâs going to be spectacular!
Until next Wednesday, dear readers, stay pink and fluffy!
Love and tutus, Emma xoxoWhat else did we have on 1998-11-25?
- The first UK showing of the original Star Wars trilogy commenced at the Odeon Leicester Square. How wonderfully retro!
Britney Spears released ââŚBaby One More Time.â Iâve been enjoying some of her latest tracks â such fabulous fun! Her music definitely inspires me for my own dancing routines.
Oh, and it was also the launch day of the first generation of Sonyâs Playstation consoles. Talk about iconic!
Note: Donât forget to join me next week on Wednesday (remember - new blog every Wednesday!) for a peek inside the upcoming Pink Tutu fashion show!
