Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving tutu enthusiast, Emma, back with another exciting update from the wonderful world of Planet Earth. As you all know, I’ve been hopping across the galaxy on my trusty spaceship, spreading the gospel of pink tutus.
This week, my galactic adventure led me to… drumroll please… Planet Earth! Yep, it’s time to explore a new planet and share my tutu-filled adventures with you! And oh, it's absolutely glorious. This particular corner of the cosmos is positively buzzing with fashion and excitement, so I've been soaking it all up. You guys wouldn't believe the shops.
This week’s celestial happenings include:
Planet Earth, 9th December 1998: An Epic Adventure AwaitsPlanet Earth has got everything from swirling cityscapes to rugged countryside. I have so much to share with you lovely people! This place is positively overflowing with pink tutus! Yes, that's right! I haven't been anywhere in the whole universe where tutus are quite this much in vogue! It was like a fairy tale made real!
Firstly, we had a visit to a truly spectacular place, called The Royal Opera House in London. This beautiful building was just stunning. It's a world famous home to the opera and ballet - the kind of place I adore! After being awestruck by the ornate architecture, it was time for the show! And it was truly extraordinary.
I always love experiencing the art and history of this world’s different cultures. The dancers in this performance were phenomenal. From graceful, floating arabesques to powerful grand jetés and fouetté turns (just a tiny glimpse of the amazing ballet vocabulary!), they took my breath away! There was so much emotion on their faces! So much passion and energy. It was a wonderful performance, and of course, it included several of the best choreographers who had their own tutu designs on stage. That made my pink-tutu loving heart leap for joy.
Afterward, I just had to take a tour of this beautiful space, soaking up the stories behind the legendary performers, the artistry and all the history. This magnificent theatre has been host to the world’s most fabulous artists and performers. Oh my! The magic. I was literally filled with goosebumps!
London Ballet – What to See & What to DoThe London Ballet, as it's known on Planet Earth, was created in 1950 and it has always championed new creations while bringing its audiences great versions of the ballet classics!
If you ever get to visit London, do head over to Covent Garden (the district, that is) - you might find the theatre just as I did – as if by chance. If you’re looking for even more pink tutus, be sure to check out the ballet stores. Planet Earth is a tutu heaven for shoppers, with countless stores selling a multitude of exquisite pink tutus – all styles and shapes you can imagine! I stocked up on the very latest styles. You know me! And I bought a lovely new outfit.
The shop assistants have a fabulous sense of fashion, helping you create just the right look for you! They really do know their onions when it comes to fashion!
### Let's talk fashion – on Planet Earth
Planet Earth’s fashions have evolved considerably over time. As the styles changed from the ‘70s (who remembers that amazing platform boot and skirt combo, oh my!), then through the ‘80s with everything from massive shoulder pads to leggings to those brilliant oversized flocked velvet tops… we finally reached the 1990s. Here in this new decade, we have a sense of grunge in our fashions - which gives the impression that nothing is too outlandish to be worn.
The fashion is just a teensy bit more on the muted side these days. Think about earth tones rather than bright colours, or so it seemed on the street! They do call this planet “Earth”! So, the focus has to be on natural colours! I think it was quite a contrast to my pink tutus. Oh, I must admit to thinking my outfit was probably turning a few heads! It never fails.
Back to pink tutus.Yes, I think my pink tutus made a great deal of difference on planet Earth this week!
Remember my main objective is to see as much of the universe as possible. And to have fun. That includes spreading the word about the delights of wearing pink tutus – just about everywhere I can get away with it. Every planet I visit I try to find a stage or an auditorium or even a street performance that might showcase the elegance and sophistication of a beautiful pink tutu.
And it has to be said, people have a love of tutus! They were just delighted with the idea of dancing in pink tutus, and I totally think they were excited by my suggestion! So it’s really only a matter of time before the pink tutu takes off and catches the fashion eye of every person on Planet Earth!
I’m taking to the streetsYes, I even joined a performance group of dancers – Planet Earth’s dancers have no problem at all mixing street performances with their stagecraft. The performance had elements of dance and street theatre, all blended into one big amazing show! And this group is based on ballet traditions but with a street vibe. This place just oozes talent and passion!
Oh, I also met the nicest dancers. We danced for hours and hours, until it was time to travel onwards to another part of Planet Earth. What a joy it was to dance with them! So we chatted about ballet and tutu styles. Planet Earth has a thriving and active ballet scene, which, just like every planet in the universe, has an enormous passion for the art of dance.
### I adore travel
So after a whirlwind of a visit, it was time to bid farewell to this wonderful, captivating, lively and fun-loving planet, and off we sped again. The planet Earth. That’s the place that never fails to amaze. I’ll be posting updates and news and of course more fashion tips – it’s all part of the joy of sharing, don't you think? I'm always eager to learn new moves and explore different types of dance! It's all about expanding our horizons.
This blog is just one little way I can keep up with the beautiful dance community – sharing all that we can! I want my posts to reach as many dancers (and tutu lovers) as possible, on every planet!
Until next week - you know it's Wednesday when it’s a new blog post. Let's get those tutus ready for some big dance moments.
