Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #220 - Ballet on Planet Earth, 1999-07-14

Hello, darling tutu lovers! Emma here, your very own cosmic fashionista, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh blast of pink and a peek into my latest adventures across the galaxy!

This week, I've landed back on planet Earth after a truly stellar trip to the Andromeda Galaxy. You wouldn't believe the tutus they're wearing there โ€“ absolutely dazzling, but I did manage to convert a few to the power of pink, so consider that a mission accomplished.

Now, back on dear old Earth, I'm feeling all nostalgic for the days when ballet was my only life. You know, the pre-spaceship era? Oh, those blissful years of pirouettes and plies at the local ballet school, my tiny heart overflowing with joy every time I tied on my pink tutu.

And the history! My dear, have I told you about the glorious evolution of the tutu? It all started with those super-long, romantic tutus that graced the 19th century stage. A fluffy cloud of tulle that, quite frankly, probably hampered the dancers' leaps but added a whole lot of oomph to the performance. But then came the demi-tutu, oh, so elegant with its shorter length. Just enough to show off those long, toned dancer legs. Honestly, a perfect balance between romanticism and practicalism. Now, here I am in the 21st century, where tutus come in every shade and style you could imagine! A little something for everyone!

This Wednesday, I'm getting my dose of vintage glamour with a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, darling! Did you know they've got a fabulous collection of costumes and stage design pieces? It's going to be an absolute treasure trove of fashion inspiration for my next pink tutu designs, I just know it.

I'll be taking a detour into Covent Garden after for a quick (well, two hours and a glass of Champagne) peek at The Nutcracker. My favourite! Such breathtaking costumes, especially that sugar plum fairy, you know the one... all pink and shimmery! Just the perfect kind of afternoon for a pink-loving ballet fan like myself.

Speaking of costumes, my dearest friends, you have got to see the stunning designs in my latest line, "Cosmic Twirls." Inspired by my adventures through space, these tutus are simply out of this world! There are galaxies, comets, shooting stars... everything your cosmic ballerina heart desires, all draped in shimmering fabrics in every shade of pink, darling! You've got to check them out!

You can see them at my upcoming ballet performance at the Derby Theatre this coming Saturday. Yes! I'm doing a performance! Can you believe it? I'll be combining a few classic pieces with some of my latest routines and my absolutely dazzling "Cosmic Twirls" collection. You know I can't go out on stage without a sparkly pink tutu. I simply can't. And trust me, the finale with the entire troupe swirling in a giant pink, sparkly tutu cloud? It'll be epic!

So, my friends, be sure to drop by www.pink-tutu.com to see more photos and read about my trip to Andromeda, because, you know, we just can't stop until the entire galaxy is sporting pink tutus, darling. It's all about positivity, it's all about tutus, it's all about... Pink!

Until next Wednesday,

Emma, xo

P.S. I know this blog post isn't as long as some of my previous entries, but my fingers are tired from tapping away on this keyboard all morning! I have a very busy week, what with the ballet performance and all, so, au revoir until next time, darlings!
