Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth, 2001-01-03 - Blog Post #297

"Ooh la la, darling!"

Well, here I am, back on good old planet Earth, but honestly, I feel like a princess who's just been whisked away from a lavish ball by a handsome prince... well, a prince in a very sleek, space-age spaceship, that is. You see, darling, I’ve just had another delightful adventure - my first foray into the cosmos for 2001, a New Year's intergalactic jaunt, if you will, all in the name of... well, spreading the love of the tutu, naturally!

Remember that cute pink fluffy number I debuted in that Giselle production in Sheffield back in December? It got such a warm reception! Well, after that, a very glamorous - and incredibly rich - interstellar being made me an offer I couldn't refuse. This dazzling space fairy godmother (who was literally radiating pink and glittery light, imagine!) flew me to her incredible floating mansion (I kid you not - this place had real galaxies hanging as artwork, I mean how amazing is that?!) and said, "My dear, I want you to help me spread your unique and delightful sense of style - your pink tutu-infused message - across the entire galaxy!" And darling, you know I wouldn't say no to such a wonderful request.

She took me on a tour of the galaxy - we visited these fantastic planetary opera houses on Jupiter, had afternoon tea on a moon colony, and watched a captivating ballet production (a rather more minimalist, angular interpretation of Swan Lake that I have to admit I quite liked) performed by three-toed alien ballerinas (not a graceful ballerina without their feet tucked together in perfect pointe position darling, a real faux pas - but then, we can't expect everyone to understand the delicate elegance of a perfectly turned out point!)

Planet Earth, Here We Come!

But enough about outer space for now! The journey back from the galaxy took me across vast expanses of black, spangled skies... it’s funny how you realise just how big the universe truly is when you travel around it. But you know what's even better than the most amazing view in space? Returning to good old Planet Earth, dear readers! I landed my spaceship (this was no cheap airline travel - the interiors of her craft were all mirrored, velvet seats and space-age, chic design) back in my lovely little town in Derbyshire, just in time for the lovely start to the New Year here on planet earth.

Now, what have I been up to in good old Derbyshire? Well, naturally, I couldn't possibly ignore this glorious day. It’s 3rd January 2001, my dears. Did you know that January 3rd is officially International Tutu Appreciation Day in several nations? (Seriously, it’s a real day! I have it in my Pink Tutu Calendar!) Well, the first day back on Earth, naturally, had to be spent with a little celebration of everything I love!

So what's on the agenda today, dear blog readers? After an essential chai latte at the local cafe, (I swear, they make the most amazing, perfectly spiced ones! I practically invented a new move to capture the feeling!) I'm going to head down to the market for a browse. You wouldn't believe how many gorgeous shops I found, brimming with lace and ribbons, sequined fabrics and those fantastic, gorgeous tulle bolts, oh my! The shopkeeper even gifted me a gorgeous satin pink scarf - for the occasion, you see! It’s gonna look perfectly lovely paired with a simple but elegant outfit: black pencil skirt, matching blouse and, of course, a beautiful black velvet and sequin tutu that my mother bought me - such an iconic piece, darling. It is truly heavenly! (You know what they say darling, you simply cannot go wrong with a little classic velvet.)

Later this evening, I have the pleasure of a performance at The Hippodrome Theatre. A Ballet in Black and White performance - sounds so stylish and oh so dramatic! I think I will do a few practice moves for a photo session to get my tutu on. (I mean, I've spent a lifetime developing this dance form, of course I would still want to practice, naturally!).

Now, where on earth to find the perfect outfit for a show in such striking colours? Maybe a nice pale blue gown? I can just imagine myself swirling on the dance floor with my magnificent and dazzling, pink tutu - oh so chic, darling! If anyone knows of any fabulous vintage fashion boutiques in Derbyshire, darling, please let me know, and remember, do check in with www.pink-tutu.com for all of your pink tutu needs and ideas!"

So there you have it! My lovely blog readers, how exciting! I am delighted that you could all join me for this journey today! I look forward to my next adventure, whether it's exploring another planet or celebrating another day at my beloved Tutu Day .
