Hello darlings! It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for a brand-spanking-new post on www.pink-tutu.com! And guess what? This week I’m right here on good old Planet Earth, having just flown back from a whirl-wind trip to Jupiter!
Oh, it was heavenly! Jupiter’s quite a hot spot for ballet right now, particularly around the Great Red Spot. They have this wonderful annual ballet festival called the “Red Spot Spectacular” and I got invited to give a solo performance! Gulp. Did I mention the gravity on Jupiter’s pretty intense? But, don’t worry, my tutu managed to stay afloat beautifully! Just another feather in its pink cap, eh? 😉
Speaking of tutus, have I told you about my new “Stardust Sparkly” collection from the Planet Zarthus? It's pure magic! I managed to pick up the most stunning holographic material with silver sparkles and the shimmer of a billion stars! Imagine: tutus so bright you can see them from the other side of the Milky Way. Talk about cosmic chic! I’ve been wearing it nonstop since my Jupiter journey. You'll be seeing lots of that gorgeous fabric on the www.pink-tutu.com website and Instagram, that's for sure.
Let's take a little step back in time, though! (Remember I love history! Ballet history, fashion history, the whole shebang!) Today’s date is the 27th of December 2000 – and do you know what’s amazingly amazing about this date?
It was on this day back in 1922, 78 years ago, that the iconic American ballerina, Anna Pavlova made her last public appearance on Earth! It’s unbelievable to think that such a radiant star, a real luminary in the ballet world, has graced the very same soil I'm standing on. I’m quite certain that if she was alive today, she'd love a Pink Tutu and her spaceship outfit would have the most fabulous sequins! Imagine Anna Pavlova in a pink tutu – so fabulous! You can imagine how incredibly humbled I feel, knowing that I am part of a such a glorious heritage!
It’s really humbling and amazing how all those ballet pioneers like Anna Pavlova have brought us to this incredible point in time, where I can literally just get on a spaceship and fly off to explore new galaxies. It makes me feel a little bit like a little bit like a Pink Tutu Supernova! ✨
You can just imagine how exciting my journey to Jupiter was! It’s almost surreal to look back at that. My intergalactic spaceship (with its own bespoke, blush pink lighting scheme, naturally!) zoomed past the asteroid belt, past the moon, Mars, the Sun, and before you know it we were whooshing past the giant gas cloud Jupiter! Just magical.
During my trip, I found myself thinking about the historical ballet pioneers like Anna Pavlova. All of the amazing dancers in ballet history and the tutu styles and design developments through the ages, like the development of the classical Romantic tutus, and how it’s only thanks to them that I can take ballet and pink tutus to a whole new galaxy. They paved the way, you see?
And of course, nothing can quite compare to Earth’s ballet scene! This week, I managed to catch five different shows. Talk about my lucky week!
First off, it was the wonderful Royal Ballet’s performance of “Giselle” in London! (London is like, the best, darling – so much good shopping for all things pink tutu!) Oh my gosh, this production was divine! The choreography, the costumes, the dancing, it was all just sublime. This whole ‘madness’ of dancing on your tiptoes and being graceful, has got to be the most magical, beautiful thing, don't you think? Of course, you know I love Giselle. I’ve even started to add some delicate tulle bits to my stage looks! Oh and did I mention the after-party! The Royal Opera House is an incredible venue. Just so chic!
Later, I saw the English National Ballet performing a completely original new ballet inspired by the life of David Bowie! Honestly, they have this phenomenal way of using different kinds of dance, and of blending contemporary dance styles with traditional balletic movements – such a fascinating new world. I mean, imagine: ballets inspired by the works of your favourite pop stars. Just imagine the tutus, darlings!
But my personal favourite was a street ballet performance in central London, this group of dancers who call themselves the "London Ballerinas"! They were doing the most amazing urban ballet in the middle of Piccadilly Circus – it was exhilarating! These girls were flipping and swirling their way through the hustle and bustle. It was such an inspiring and truly energetic piece. The outfits? All very on-trend! And lots of pinks! (Always with the pinks, right?!) It was fabulous! I swear it felt like I was part of an intergalactic street-style dance party! ✨
I was so impressed! These street ballerinas were literally demonstrating that you can do ballet everywhere! On a mountain, at a lake, on the bus, on the stage, even on a space-ship! No matter where you are, as long as you’re rocking your own Pink Tutu, you can have a total blast. It’s such a liberating feeling! And if you happen to spot an amazing tutu you're just going to have to own, darling, then that's even better!
In between all this fabulous ballet, I managed to squeeze in a spot of shopping at my favourite boutique on Carnaby Street, called ‘Blossom and Blush’. (They have such divine clothes! And such a fantastic choice of ballet pinks!) But as you know, it’s just never easy getting a decent cup of tea on Planet Earth. And what does Emma do when she really needs a hot cup of tea?
Well, naturally I took off on a space-trip to Mercury! Now, Mercury’s a tiny little planet, but boy does it know how to do a good tea ceremony. It's all about that classic English comfort and relaxation and the teapot and china, are just, well... stunning! I must get some Mercury porcelain shipped to my home on Planet Earth, so elegant! It’s my little indulgence. And let me tell you, there's nothing better than a hot cup of English tea on Mercury after a long day of ballet watching on Planet Earth!
Of course, being on Earth for the festive season means I had to take the time to dress for the occasion. So naturally, I created the most adorable little pink and white tutu-inspired dress and accessorized it with tons of glittering rhinestones! Divine! This outfit is so fabulous I plan to wear it all the way into the New Year! So stylish, don’t you think?
I absolutely love all these traditions surrounding the Christmas season! The decorated trees, the lights, the snow (sometimes!)... It’s always a wonderfully romantic time, and everyone is just so happy! Oh and don’t forget the music. This year, my favourite Christmas tune has to be the rendition of "White Christmas" performed by none other than the Royal Ballet! Absolutely magical!
Now, I just need to work on creating a festive tutu to fit all these wonderful, fun, joyful, festive emotions! Hmm... I think perhaps a silver star, some glittering snowflakes, a little dash of velvet ribbon…
Speaking of New Year’s, are you ready for 2001? I am! As soon as I arrive home back in Derbyshire, England, I am planning to spend some time reflecting on all the incredible experiences I’ve had on my recent voyages across the solar system and think about all the plans I’m going to make for my next big space odyssey. But I have some very specific goals for the New Year:
I want to find five new dance moves that I can share with you, five new ballet inspired outfits and five brand new pink tutu colours to launch, with the hope of reaching even more fabulous dancers across the galaxy!
My dream is to turn the whole galaxy into a pink-tutu paradise. What are you waiting for? Embrace the pink tutu magic. Get out your spaceship, darlings! Grab your tutus! And let's get out there!
Don't forget to check back next week for more exciting adventures in Pink Tutu World. Until then, stay fabulous and don't forget to dance your way into 2001!
Sending pink tutu love and sparkle,
Emma 💕
