Pink Tutu World: Intergalactic Adventures - Post 307

Helloooo Darlings!

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu World post! I'm so excited to share this week's adventures with you all. Grab your favourite cuppa (or, if you're feeling fancy, a glass of champagne - I certainly am!), settle in, and let's dive into this week's blog.

It’s March 14th, 2001. I'm currently basking in the glorious sun on the stunning island of Maui in Hawaii. The air is filled with the sweet scent of frangipani, the gentle sounds of the ocean lap at my toes as I sip my delicious coconut water, and… Oh! What's this? An impromptu performance of “Swan Lake” by some local swan-shaped aliens? Yes! They seem to adore the colour pink too!

Now, don't get me wrong, the Hawaiian scenery is spectacular, and a much needed respite after last week’s busy whirlwind of space travel! Remember my interstellar trek to Jupiter? Those Galilean moons were simply dazzling in their pink hues, and they certainly inspired some unique new Tutu Designs – which will be debuting at my “A Night In The Pink Nebula” show, next week. I cannot wait for you all to see what my designers have cooked up! It's going to be spectacular! I have been doing some major tutu research at the Intergalactic Ballet Museum ( yes! It's the most wonderful thing!), the new moon dust fabric I sourced there will simply knock your socks off!

Anyway, back to this gorgeous planet earth… Oh! That’s my cue! I have a special treat for you lovelies today. Today is the 150th anniversary of "The Nutcracker” on planet earth, the world-famous ballet that truly launched my love of the genre, and so many childhood memories! So, before I whisk you away on a tour of the very best ballet shops in Honolulu, let’s indulge in a little bit of balletic history...

Tutu Tidbits - The Nutcracker

You probably all know this lovely ballet - It's simply a Christmas staple on earth, just like a turkey dinner on the day of the earth’s annual “Day Of Giving.” This gorgeous production by the great Tschaikovsky is such a classic for so many reasons. It’s charming, whimsical and full of colourful characters and beautifully choreographed sequences. And if I had to choose my all-time favourite scene, it would be the dance of the sugar plum fairy, a scene of pure magic and beauty that always sends shivers down my spine ( and a delightful twirl in my Tutu)!

The original production by Petipa and Ivanov was premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg back in 1892, in 19th-century Tsarist Russia, you wouldn’t believe it, there wasn’t a tutu to be seen, but you could bet your bottom dollar I was there in the audience cheering the daylights out of the original ballerina – although sadly she wasn’t wearing my fabulous pink tutu! Now of course you’re all aware that pink tutus are an essential item for every serious dancer, so, after my last trip to Earth to catch the wonderful Bolshoi production of the Nutcracker, you better believe that this season, pink is very much the new red, it’s practically the rule. So, if you see a pink tutu, don’t be shocked, it’s more than a fashion trend – It's the way of the future (and don't tell my mum but, I may or may not have persuaded her to purchase her first pink tutu this season!)

What would the planet Earth’s iconic Christmas production be without a little bit of history? I’m off to catch an amazing "Nutcracker" production by the Hawaii Ballet, now I have just a tiny little bit of time before the curtain rises for the show tonight - But don't worry - you can keep up with me through the wonder of social media. You know I’m always on hand to deliver a pink tutu update for my darling Pink Tutu World followers. You can find my favourite looks on my Insta feed @ PinkTutuWorld.

See you all there!

Island Inspiration - Shopping Spree!

So, back to Maui... I’m here for another special engagement: to showcase my newest collection - “Maui Mermaid,” which is all inspired by my trip to Hawaii. As many of you know I absolutely love shopping, so this is the best excuse for some much needed retail therapy! And where better than Honolulu’s iconic shopping centre, Ala Moana Center, which is the biggest open-air shopping centre in the USA! Just so much beauty and elegance, and endless shopping opportunities! The sun, the beach, the amazing atmosphere, Hawaii truly knows how to dress to impress, I adore its eclectic styles!

Naturally I headed for the luxurious Neiman Marcus for my fix of fabulous couture (and a few divine tutus – after all you can’t go anywhere without one of my gorgeous creations). You'd think a fashion-forward girl like me wouldn’t be impressed with shopping malls, but the architecture is really so cool! This mall really has everything from traditional, Hawaiian island vibes to international high-street stores, not to mention it was where the original "Hawaii Five-0" tv series filmed, back in the day - talk about an iconic location. The sun, the beautiful people, the unique cultural vibe- oh darling, the world is truly a pink wonderland!

I absolutely love all things fashion, and believe me, a shopping trip to Hawaii was definitely the icing on the cake this trip. I just fell head-over-heels in love with this place, especially the Polynesian Cultural Center - I can't wait to go back again. And I was even able to meet the local Queen and have a fabulous picture taken wearing one of my signature Pink Tutu World tutus! She even told me how much she loved my outfit (the matching pink sunhat, the stunning new ballet slippers and of course, the pink tutu!). Talk about a true “Tutu Girl” royalty moment!

If you happen to find yourself in this paradise, don’t forget to stop by one of the wonderful markets for the perfect gift - be it a lei, a tropical flower, or maybe a delicious pineapple – perfect to make into a fabulous cocktail when you get home. It's hard to choose, the shopping options in Hawaii are just so unique!

So, there you have it – a snippet of my exciting trip to this amazing planet. Hawaii’s been such a delightful surprise! I can't wait to get back and see some of those breathtaking sights again.

Until next week my darlings!

Lots of love,

Emma, x
