Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, ready to whisk you off to the most fabulous corner of the universe! (Spoiler alert: it's still Planet Earth, but who needs a different planet when we've got ballet and shops, right? 😉)
This week has been a whirlwind of twirling and sparkles, my lovelies, and I’m absolutely buzzing to share it with you all. As you know, Wednesdays are all about my weekly planet Earth blog - and this one’s a real treat!
This Wednesday marked the anniversary of one very important day in space exploration: The launch of the Mars Odyssey probe, which has been exploring Mars for almost 22 years! Did you know? That's longer than my ballet teacher has been teaching! Can you believe it? I find it utterly fascinating, the wonders of the universe, all those incredible things waiting to be discovered!
But you know me, dear readers. A girl can't just look at the stars without a twirl! And speaking of twirls…
A Royal Ballet Debut
Let me tell you all about my latest ballet adventure! Remember my fabulous ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ show last week? Well, let me tell you, it’s still on my mind. Such a magnificent production! It just reminded me how much I love exploring new theatre performances - especially the ballet!
Now, you might be thinking, what could be better than ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’? Well, darlings, I went to see something extra special at the Royal Ballet. A truly spectacular evening. They’re holding an International Festival of Dance, and it was an absolute treat for the eyes and ears! They had some of the world’s most incredible dancers and it really was a special evening!
My absolute highlight was this absolutely stunning contemporary piece by Wayne McGregor, a very exciting British choreographer. The movement was just exquisite, flowing, yet so strong!
Speaking of ballet…
Twirling with the stars!
You know how much I adore the ‘Space Odyssey’ ballet – the ‘Clair de Lune’ music is so beautiful, especially in the full length ballet performance by the Bolshoi! I just love how ‘Space Odyssey’ is about those great explorers who set out on an exciting journey, facing new challenges, just like the space astronauts! And like the ballet dancers - every step must be so perfect to make sure the performance is incredible, a spectacle for all! I absolutely love dancing along with the dancers when I see ‘Space Odyssey.’ And what a beautiful tutu for this performance – shimmering silk! So dramatic and mysterious.
