Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with you from a whirlwind trip across the cosmos and straight back to good old planet Earth, which - I've gotta say - is always good to be back on. It's a good week this week, the first week of August, and here in Derbyshire, England, we've got glorious sunshine and a gentle breeze. Nothing quite beats a summery day on Earth!
Well, first things first, the raison d'être - my fabulous pink tutu. I've been thinking about it a lot recently. How it all started, you know? Tutu-ally! This pink number has travelled the universe with me. We've been to Saturn, Uranus, even Mercury - and we're both still looking good, a total match made in heavenly (or space-y, whatever) heaven. My trusty pink tutu is not only a wardrobe staple but a faithful travel companion, a reminder that every journey begins with a little twirl and a sprinkle of pink!
Now, on the subject of journeys - my space travels last week were quite something! Imagine - a grand ballet gala on Neptune, complete with ice sculptures of tutu-wearing mermaids! Seriously, you'd never believe it, but I had the most wonderful time learning their Neptune-ian ballet routines - they really do make their ankles rotate in a way that just defies gravity! It’s truly amazing to think about the cultural variations on ballet that exist across the galaxy, and to find something truly universal about the grace and elegance of a pirouette. Even in places that defy Earthly logic!
But enough about space ballet! As a self-confessed tutu enthusiast, and dedicated blogger (my Planet Earth post is coming to you live from my flat in the peak district - gotta keep that internet connection steady!) it is of course a pleasure and privilege for me to be keeping you updated with the latest on Planet Earth, with its delightful culture of dance, fashion, and fun!
There is a special reason I like August the 1st here on Earth. For a true tutu devotee, August 1st is an essential day because it marks the birthday of one of the most influential ballet shoemakers in history, Pierre-Marin Lenoir! He was the shoemaker who pioneered the point shoe. Yep - you guessed it, that’s the shoe that let dancers take it to the next level! Can you imagine a ballerina without point shoes? It’s mind-boggling! And I bet that all those talented ballerina fairies on Neptune couldn't get those spectacular leaps off without them either.
My own pair of trusty point shoes, you'll be pleased to know, are by Atelier d'Olympe - the only makers in the whole galaxy to understand the magic of point shoes, or pink tutus for that matter.
Now I've always had a fascination for all things to do with tutus! My fascination goes far beyond my wardrobe - and my blog is a reflection of my total immersion in this wonderful, elegant and historically fascinating form of clothing. Don't think it’s always about tutus! I do like to broaden my horizons - I love fashion of all types, I enjoy visiting different planets - and even the occasional spaceship - but it's the tutus that get me going. They're a powerful tool. I feel so powerful when I'm wearing a tutu! But maybe you all already know that, because I keep talking about them! So, today, to celebrate Pierre-Marin Lenoir, let's get our twirls on.
Speaking of twirling...
Now, just imagine - me, spinning through the Earthly sunshine in my pink tutu - a bit like an ethereal version of a Derbyshire lamb, in all its loveliness! And maybe, just maybe, the sheep look up from the field and think "what a stunning outfit"! Or perhaps they’ll try and copy it!
Right! I have a whole blog full of fabulous tutu tips and tutu advice to share with you on www.pink-tutu.com , but just for this post - I'll be letting you in on a special secret. My latest travel plans are to the Milky Way... but that’s top secret, so don't tell anyone!
That's all for now.
Catch ya'll next week on Planet Earth!
And don't forget... if it's a new week, it’s tutu time! So let’s put on our pink tutus and dance through the week, spreading pink tutu joy everywhere!
XOXO Emma
