Helloooo darling! It's me, Emma, back again with another intergalactic blog post from Planet Earth! This week, I'm serving you some serious vintage vibes with a dose of Earthly excitement. Get your pink tutu's ready, darlings, because we're about to blast off to a spectacular ballet-tastic day!
It's Wednesday morning and the sun's shining, like a million tiny spotlights on my perfect pink tutu! š I'm sitting at my desk in Derbyshire, a cup of peppermint tea warming my hands (very important, staying hydrated is key for any dancer!). I've got my laptop open and a few hours to spare before the day really kicks off!
Remember how I told you last week I'd be exploring Planet Earth? Well, I just spent the last couple of days in the absolutely glorious city of Paris, my dear darlings! You know how much I adore that city. Itās simply bursting with beauty. From the enchanting streets to the exquisite architecture, it feels like stepping into a beautiful storybook, especially when youāre wearing a pink tutu of course! I'll admit, a few Parisians did give me some curious looks, bless their cotton socks. They haven't yet seen the glorious pink tutu light, so I must forgive them. I think itās my mission to convert them, wouldn't you agree, my lovely readers?
Speaking of glorious pink, letās talk fashion for a minute, darling! This trip has been so inspiring - and I picked up the most fabulous new shoes, a gorgeous little pair of emerald green velvet ballet pumps with pink diamante buckles! Just like a magical fairytale princess on a sparkly, twirling mission. Theyāll look fabulous with all my pink tutu outfits.
Speaking of tutu's darling, I took in a ballet performance last night in Paris that was simply breath-taking. It was a staging of "La Sylphide" and, honestly, it left me with shivers and butterflies. It was a love story, you see, of a young woman who falls for a supernatural being, and I swear the dancers were positively radiant. They swirled and twirled in the most glorious costumes. There was a little girl dancing, and she had the most beautiful fluffy pink tutu - you know, like a cloud! Just picture this, darling, a sky of blue and fluffy clouds, so soft and perfect... now imagine the most breathtaking dancing - and all you can think about is this delightful girl in a soft, white, pink tutu, her steps so light and delicate. I swear the moment brought a tear to my eye. So magical! It made me think "Where would we be without the gorgeous artistry of the pink tutu?" Truly, such a lovely evening - Paris at night under the moonlight with a good performance and the magical sight of a girl twirling in a beautiful fluffy tutu, and all my wonderful readers are here with me to witness this moment in our shared journey.
Speaking of shared journeys, darlings! Today I'm going to tell you all about the little-known story of the pink tutu on Planet Earth! This, darlings, is an exciting and stylish story! Buckle up, I think weāll both be surprised at this one.
If you're a big fan of history like myself, you probably already know the first tutus were pretty basic, darlings. They were just short ballet skirts, no real emphasis on the āpoofyā factor you might think of, no fabulous embellishments or extra embellishments... just basic. They were very practical, which is probably the only good thing you can say about them. Imagine! Ballet in a plain skirt. The horror!
Fast forward a century, my darlings, and pink became popular in Europe! Ballet embraced the trend with full force. By 1880s, dancers wore fluffy tutus in shades of salmon and blush that started looking very much like modern tutus! Then, BAM! The 1930s hit! You know the vibe? The "Roaring 20s" led to flappers! Pink tutus, my dears! Well, weāve finally arrived - the big moment! Ballet, after a long and dark path (Iām not quite sure what they were thinking in the pre-tutu age), became a bright and fashionable scene - with the stunning invention of the Pink Tutu. It was a style of dancewear worn that involved the "bouffant," as we call it these days. If youāve ever seen those wonderful dancers doing pirouettes or leaps ā the bouffant skirt is definitely what gives that show stopping look.
What did you think, darlings? Have you ever considered tutu history, as we now have explored, before now? I always thought the pink tutu just popped into being as a wonderful moment of beauty... itās almost too cute for words. It seems history often forgets about the real power behind the pink tutu and why it's really a story we should keep in mind. It represents freedom, strength, beauty and it tells the story of a magical world filled with bright and creative fashion - the kind of pink you dream of seeing everywhere! I really hope it gives you a good chuckle or even a bit of inspiration to dance it out in your tutu's, even if it's just a private performance!
I'm planning on returning to Paris in a few months, for the fashion week shows! I hear theyāre always incredible - such gorgeous fashion, itāll probably inspire me to write a new piece! Iām planning on adding more pink to the world at every fashion week, from Milan to London to New York! I can't wait!

## š Ballet Corner
Today, we're talking ballet, but darling, weāre going to turn things up a notch because this time, weāre dancing outside of the studio! Ballet street and theatre are gaining popularity and itās the kind of creativity that will bring the most beautiful pink to life! This special brand of artistry has something quite special and so exciting about it, because darling, itās the opposite of stuffy or pretentious. You can bring your dancing spirit to life! Letās take a closer look!
What exactly is āballet streetā? Well darling, this isn't just a dance show; itās a way of celebrating street dancing in an expression of artistic freedom that often happens outdoors. Itās all about embracing the bold and dramatic style, like dancers doing amazing flips or moves and spinning in front of you. Imagine the beautiful movement, graceful twirls with maybe a pop of colour ā it's basically a flash mob that focuses on dance, so exciting, isnāt it?! And yes, my lovelies, some fabulous dancers use a sparkly pink tutu, too.
What I like about "Ballet Street" is the unexpected magic of an unfurling performance. You might walk down a city street and then BOOM! Suddenly there are ballerinas pirouetting or leapfrogging their way through traffic lights. You really do feel like youāre in an elaborate and beautiful ballet, or perhaps an enchanting, stylish and exciting fantasy. Thereās a kind of street style that comes with ballet street, and itās so charming! It reminds us that there is beauty everywhere ā especially when you're ready to find it. And if it doesn't make you want to embrace life with pink sparkle, well then darling, you're simply not paying attention.
Ballet Theatre performances are similarly fun. You don't even have to leave the comfort of a plush red chair to see a performance of artistry, wonder and beauty. Ballet Theatre allows ballet to burst out from the confines of the studio, into theatres. Ballet theatre productions will tell stories - using the amazing and captivating beauty of dance - with all the dramatic costume and fabulous tutus, darling. Oh darling, it's truly spectacular to see how a performance can tell a whole story! Ballet theatre productions can often combine dramatic scenery and lighting to add a level of magic and creativity - bringing a really magical kind of pink to the stage.
My mission is getting every ballerina, every dance enthusiast, and every fan to go see Ballet Theatre. If youāre reading this, I hope it's making you want to find some of the wonderful stories ballet tells, whether it's on the stage or on the streets!
