Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, back again with another fabulous foray into the wondrous world of dance! 🩰💖
This week, I’m bursting with excitement because guess what?! I'm finally back on good old Planet Earth! 🌏 I've been travelling around the galaxy, but you know me, I can never resist a good ballet performance, and you wouldn't believe what's happening on Earth today, 30th January 2002, so I absolutely had to get back here. 😉
After my last incredible interstellar journey (did you catch my blog post about the tutu-wearing robot ballerina competition on Zargon V? Seriously, fabulous! ), it was time to head back to home sweet Earth. And guess what greeted me when I touched down? A brand new pink tutu, darling! 🎀 I do love how this planet’s fashion sense seems to be evolving towards a more pink direction, don't you agree? 😂
Anyway, I'm practically vibrating with excitement because tonight's event is all about ballet! And let me tell you, it's the perfect excuse to put on my newest pink tutu and my very favourite sparkly shoes. 👠 Oh, the sparkles! 💖 You wouldn’t believe how well the light catches the sequins!
Now, for those of you who have been reading my blog since the very beginning (did I mention I started this online space back in the year 2000? That seems like another galaxy ago! laughs ) , you know my obsession with tutu history is absolutely legendary. 👑💖 And that brings me to tonight’s extra exciting ballet performance! It’s called “The Ballet of the Ages,” and guess what they're featuring? A reconstruction of the original tutu! That's right, my dears, from the days of Marie Taglioni herself! I can barely contain my excitement! 😍
Just imagine! You’ve got graceful dancers swishing through the stage in those elegant, romantic tutus that set the stage for all those amazing designs we have today! The tutu’s story is truly fascinating, and let me tell you, there’s a whole other level of fun when you see how they evolved from those early en pointe tutus, with all their layers and puffiness. You can practically feel the romanticism pulsating around you, and witness how much ballerinas had to work for each twirl and step. Talk about strength! 🙌
There’s no stopping me! I must get my hands on some more tutu history details from the performance. And once I’m done with that, naturally, I have a plan for a fantastic shopping trip to celebrate my homecoming and the spectacular event. 💅🏻💄
Let me tell you, there are some truly divine shops around this part of planet Earth. I just know there’s a pink tutu with my name on it. 👑💖
As for you, dears, don't forget to join me tonight at the Royal Ballet in London. The performance starts at 7:30, but you’ll want to get there early for all the pre-show fun, the mingling, and to capture some truly incredible photos. After all, what’s a fabulous event without *pictures?

Before I disappear off again, a little fashion tip for you all. Forget any thoughts you might have of ‘appropriate’ clothing for a ballet performance. There's nothing more stylish than seeing fellow tutu-lovers expressing their individual flair and making the ballet performance even more wonderful. A splash of colour here, a dazzling bit of sequins there... let your creativity loose! And always always remember: if it’s pink, it’s perfect. 😘💖

The Day’s EventsI love getting a sneak peek at the schedule of planet Earth’s fabulous dance scene. Just like you, darlings, I find it so fun to browse the show listings, knowing that you might just find a fabulous ballet to share with me. It always makes me feel connected to your world! 💕
So here's a peek at what's happening on this particular day (which is 30th January 2002, darling. Don’t forget that. It’s good to remember these special days!)
- The Royal Ballet in London, oh it’s always so fabulous! They’re performing “The Ballet of the Ages”, with a beautiful reconstruction of the original tutu. As you can tell, I’m pretty much beside myself about this! (That means super happy, darlings. You have to try to stay super enthusiastic and fabulous to travel between galaxies!) 🤩✨
- You also have “Swan Lake” at the English National Ballet, and Birmingham Royal Ballet are staging a brand new production of Sleeping Beauty. Talk about a perfect ballet evening! Especially when you have the chance to catch “Sleeping Beauty” from start to finish with the costumes, the music, the full spectacle! You can almost feel the romance just thinking about it. 💖
Now for a few of my favourite places to browse for all things ballet and tutu on planet Earth. You know it’s all about finding that perfect outfit, and then the perfect place to flaunt it! 💖
- The London Dance Store: This shop’s always the place to find the latest leotards and tights for class. 💃 Plus, they have such a beautiful selection of tutus (including those amazing tulle and feathery ones just perfect for a photoshoot, darling!). You could spend all day exploring and always find something new.
- Dancewear Central: This store has such a unique vibe and often brings in some gorgeous, one-of-a-kind items! Perfect for looking extra chic in a ballet outfit. If you want to find something totally unique, I suggest this shop! You just might find the tutu of your dreams. 🌈💖
