Pink Tutu World: Post #493 - From Earth to… the Stars! (And Back Again)

Hello my darling dears, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - a brand-new blog post from your favourite pink-loving ballerina, ready to whisk you off on a cosmic journey of tutu-fied dreams!

This week, it's all about my latest adventure: travelling to Planet Earth! I know, I know, you're probably thinking, "But Emma, you're on Planet Earth. What do you mean?" Well, this little pink-tutu-clad blogger doesn't just live on this celestial sphere – she loves to explore it. This week I journeyed to my hometown of Derbyshire, a little corner of England brimming with countryside charm and… you guessed it… pink tulips. I mean, what's a pink-loving girl to do but dance among the blooms?

Tutu Trivia Time: Speaking of Derbyshire, did you know it's the birthplace of ballet shoe maestro, Frederick William (FW) Reynolds? Mr. Reynolds was the original supplier of the "pointe shoes" that allow ballerinas to soar across the stage and... well, dance on the points of their toes. It seems my love for all things pink tutu starts at the very foundations of our world-renowned artform. How perfectly pink is that, eh?

Speaking of which, you know what else made my pink heart sing? A beautiful ballet production of Giselle that I managed to catch in the charming town of Matlock. It was simply glorious. I could almost smell the pointe shoes as Giselle floated across the stage, a wispy dream in a delicate tulle gown that seemed to be woven from moonlight. It’s fair to say that I may or may not have shed a tear… you know how it is, chère, we ballerinas have so many emotions, don't we?

Oh, but before we move on from my adventures back on Earth, let's talk about fashion, my dearest! I had to stop by a little independent boutique in Bakewell. You see, dear readers, I am a big fan of vintage, and this boutique had all sorts of treasures hidden away on the shelves. Just wait until I tell you about the 1920s beaded dress I found, with a shade of pink that reminded me of my favourite strawberry and champagne cocktail. It practically screamed "Parisian Elegance" and just knew how to shimmy across the dance floor, darling.

Speaking of vintage, I took the time to revisit some of my favourite pink-tutu-loving figures in the history of dance. Did you know that even Isadora Duncan, that bohemian icon, had her moments with pink? (It wasn't quite a tutu, but a rose-pink costume for a fiery Flamenco performance) And let's not forget Anna Pavlova! Did you know her signature tutu, with the tiered layers, inspired pink tutus worn by some of the biggest ballet dancers in history? Who else has a bit of Pavlova in their closet? Well, I'm a little bit obsessed, to say the least!

After a bit of vintage shopping, a splash of Derbyshire scenery, and a sprinkle of ballet magic, I hopped on my spaceship (after all, one must travel in style!) to continue my exploration of Planet Earth. Who knew there were such exquisite sights on this cosmic jewel? But my cosmic travels continue next week. Until then, dear friends, I encourage you to put on your brightest pink tutu and dance your heart out.

And never, ever forget, darling… Every single day is an opportunity to share your joy with the world.

Yours in Pink Tulle,

Emma xx

Let's explore fashion

Of course, no post about Planet Earth could possibly conclude without some fabulous fashion, right? Well, darlings, I wouldn’t dream of letting you down! Here’s a quick rundown of the key style moments from my journey – perfect for taking inspiration from as we head into the fall season!

  1. Embrace your Inner Bohemian:

Inspired by Isadora Duncan's free-spirited and ethereal grace, I decided to go with flowy floral maxi-dresses in vibrant hues of pink and lavender for a romantic countryside look. Think: billowing skirts that create graceful, twirling shapes as you move! And because nothing says "ballet" quite like a tulle skirt, I added layers of it to my maxi dresses, for a truly whimsical, fairy-like touch.

  2. Add a Pop of Pink to Your Classics:

Let’s face it, black is a staple colour in any wardrobe. But we all know it's a colour that screams sophistication, and what better way to add some fun than a burst of pink? My absolute favourite way to achieve this is with statement jewellery! Think oversized pink gemstone earrings or a delicate pink gemstone necklace. But of course, who can say no to a bold pink hat or a fluffy, pink cardigan, or perhaps a touch of glitter, with your black little dress. The pink tutu can take over the world! It's a sure fire way to instantly elevate your outfit. And trust me, darlings, you’ll be turning heads!

  3. Pink, Pink, Everywhere:

Okay, we all love the colour pink here, don't we? It’s one of those magic hues that instantly brings a smile to everyone's face. And what better way to bring your love for this color to life than to dress in all-pink attire! Don't be shy about making a bold statement by layering different shades of pink. Imagine a chic rose-pink coat worn over a soft blush pink top, with some sparkling pink pumps to finish off the look. It's like whispering, "Hello, sunshine!" – only a little more glamorous, naturally.

  4. Give your everyday looks an extra Twirl:

We all love a good pair of comfy jeans, don't we? But we can add a little something special with the power of pink tutus and ballet accessories. Just add a layer of tulle to a denim skirt or jeans for an instant fashion boost, or you can always slip on a soft pink tutu to your outfit. Let's not forget ballerina flats - they are the perfect combination of comfort and style. It's like bringing the elegance of ballet off-stage and into everyday life!

  5. Always be Prepared:

Always remember that your everyday style shouldn't come at the expense of being ready to tutu – even on your journey through everyday life. A fabulous, always-ready-to-dance pink tutu folded neatly in a bag (or even a travel-sized one tucked into a compartment within your favourite clutch purse) means you can go from regular errands to dazzling dancing in a flash! Oh, you can also add glitter, if you like... just saying...

Planet Earth Style Tip: Don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through with bold statement pieces!

Now that we’ve explored the magical fusion of fashion and planet earth, I just wanted to share a little Pink Tutu World secret... It's actually been a bit chilly here in Derbyshire. But my pink wardrobe is equipped to tackle any climate! For chilly mornings and breezy evenings, I've been layering a long-sleeved blush pink top underneath my dresses or slipping into a fuzzy, pastel pink sweater for that extra cosy vibe. After all, there's no need to compromise style for comfort, darling! And I always ensure to layer in comfortable ballet flat shoes for any unexpected strolls, for maximum elegance, without a single bit of ache! I would never, ever leave the house without at least one layer of tulle!

Until next Wednesday, darlings, stay safe and fabulous!

Lots of Love,

Emma xx
