Pink Tutu World: Planet Earth Adventures #494 - Dancing with the Stars... Literally!

Hello, my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another fabulous instalment of my planet Earth adventures! This week, my lovelies, we’re whisked away to a little soirĂ©e of cosmic proportions. That's right, darling - I, Emma, your very own intergalactic ballerina, took a cosmic ballet trip! And where did this magnificent adventure take me? Oh, you’ll never guess, it’s none other than the big ol’ shimmering, spinning ball of blue, green, and white they call Planet Earth!

As you know, I simply can’t resist a good fashion adventure, so naturally, my outfit was an absolute dream – a bubblegum pink tutu with the softest chiffon layers, adorned with sparkling diamantĂ© snowflakes to echo the frosty wonders of Planet Earth. Paired with matching pink feather boa and a glittery silver bodice, it was pure balletic bliss, ready to take on the starry streets of a world unlike my own!

It’s a rather humbling feeling to step off the Starship ‘Ballerina' and find oneself standing upon such a massive, vibrant, bustling planet. Everything on Earth is so...so tangible! On my own planet, we are more... well, less tangible. Imagine a universe that feels like a silk dream, my dears! We glide through the air, all thanks to an anti-gravity suit made out of iridescent feather boas. On Earth, everything seems rooted to this massive blue ball, which is quite a feat, frankly. It all looks so solid. So... real.

This time around, I’m making the most of my trip to Planet Earth and exploring a delightful piece of history that’s connected to dance in some of its most glorious forms – a historical building with the incredible name The Shakespeare’s Globe. Imagine, darling, a theater designed in the late 16th century, constructed out of timber, so that you could truly have an “authentic” experience – with a completely different idea of what constitutes an "authentic" experience than my own, that's for sure.

Oh, my sweet dears, it truly is incredible to witness this bit of history so clearly - seeing a theater from that era is such a privilege, and a pleasure! For those of you who have never been to Planet Earth, imagine an entire auditorium with no roof. Well, it does have a beautiful thatched canopy, but no, no roof like you and I know on my own planet! And this lack of a roof really adds to the whole historical feeling, you know? The very idea that the playwrights would have to write something they could say outdoors - think about all the creative constraints they faced!

My own ballet troupe, you see, does not work with constraints. Our choreography has to be both ground-breaking and ethereal, both graceful and strong. We like to be unconstrained in our creativity, just like our feather boas and shimmering tutus! There’s no doubt about it, the Shakespeare’s Globe made quite an impression on me. They just don't do things half-hearted on Planet Earth, that much is true.

Since it was the 13th of October, a date I shall always remember as the day I was graced by a very special treat, you’ll just have to excuse me, but we must take a little detour, darlings, from our ballet adventures. You see, dear readers, on the planet Earth, you’ve got these little "special days," or something, that people use as an excuse for delicious celebration – you simply must take every opportunity for an extravagant celebration, if you ask me! The special day I was given the pleasure of joining this week, they called National Boss’s Day. This is, you see, a dedicated day to recognise bosses - as in a leader or head of an organisation, who might or might not be in the same space as their “employees.” It truly sounds like a completely made-up planet Earth invention, doesn’t it? A little ironic, I'd say, in an almost Shakespearean twist of fate. Why would one day not be suitable to recognise a person in a leading position? I think on the Starship Ballerina, we have daily gratitude for Captain Sparklepuff. It’s only the bare minimum. You simply must show those who inspire you respect and admiration daily! So, you'll have to forgive me, but when it comes to Planet Earth, always take every opportunity to enjoy the most delicious, vibrant, beautiful treats on offer, and in every space on every occasion.

One of my absolute favorite treats on Earth, aside from every thing on offer in the delightful stores of London – don’t even get me started on my planet Earth obsession with these things called “clothes”, “fashion,” and “tutus”– is a beautiful tea selection at one of these fabulous afternoon tea parlors. It's almost enough to get me slightly emotional to look at those delicious, tiered cake stands filled with delicious cupcakes and little finger sandwiches and divine cakes and pastries, especially as they often include an option of a delightful scone with jam and clotted cream. Oh! Simply divine! The tea was heavenly - a perfect balance of warmth and flavour with those delicate rose petal scents. The entire experience was a total love fest. And all in my beautiful pink tutu. You can't ask for more, really.

And you know that when I talk about fashion, I simply cannot ignore the opportunity to see some gorgeous outfits worn by Earthlings – a dance event in London was all the excuse I needed, darling. A ballet show featuring the very famous, ever so celebrated, and incredibly talented British dance artist called Darcey Bussell – that’s the most beautiful thing about this planet – the star quality of Earthling celebrities is just unbelievable – you really have to see it to believe it!

The event, I tell you, my darling, the event! So many elegant and stunning evening dresses and beautiful, feminine evening gowns. You know me - I love an occasion! There were more layers and sequins than you could imagine! Oh, I don't even have the words to express what a fantastic fashion exhibition it was! Just... just... amazing, darling, simply amazing. A truly beautiful ballet production with such graceful performances. You just wouldn't believe it unless you were there to see it with your very own eyes! And to tell the truth, dear, the pink in my tutu really matched the colours on stage! It was a true highlight for me on my whole Planet Earth journey, and that’s saying something, you see.

Speaking of tutus, there’s a whole other planet Earth craze – these wonderful “tutu workshops”. The workshops are set up to teach everyone how to create a wonderful tutu. Well, that doesn’t quite sound as impressive as the amazing tutu classes and ballerina rehearsals I take part in in the vast expanse of the universe on my home planet. We have something much more grand. On my planet, darling, our lessons are held within the ethereal aurora borealis, in a room made out of moonstones. You’re not just being taught the steps in your graceful ballerina slippers - you are learning about yourself! To dance, you need self knowledge, my dear, in the art of elegance and fluidity! We glide and spin through space at a remarkable speed. Our lessons are part-tutu making, part self-discovery and part space exploration! I imagine our ballet classes are somewhat impressive for you Planet Earthling readers. Can you imagine it? * It *really is something to see!

Of course, as soon as I left my home planet to embark on my adventures on Planet Earth, I wanted to try the whole “tutu making” workshop - and the best thing about this, my dear, is that these Planet Earth human workshops actually give you your tutu when it's completed! That's so strange to my way of thinking - why would you make something only to hand it over after making the effort to create it?! But the experience was certainly... fun! It's lovely to get back to those basic elements, to use your imagination and your creative expression to make something with your hands, rather than just simply being given it when you’re a little baby ballerina.

Anyway, to summarise: I learned a lot on my quick journey around Planet Earth this week - especially about Earth’s own form of celebration. And the fact that I went to see the amazing Darcey Bussell - how I did not totally collapse from sheer delight I don't know! I must add: if you are ever looking for some fantastic tutus to adorn yourself for your own journey into the beautiful art of ballet and your next intergalactic trip, dear, I would highly recommend trying one out of the very, very extensive stores on Planet Earth. The selection really is astonishing. * And while you're there, remember: every single day on planet Earth is a good opportunity for celebration!

And if you haven’t subscribed yet, please come on over and join my fantastic Pink Tutu World! Every week we share our intergalactic adventures, learn new ways to dance, make some incredible new tutus, discover magical new ways to use fashion to celebrate life, and always, always explore new galaxies! Let’s go! It’s going to be spectacular!

Keep dancing and shimmering,

Emma xx
