Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - 2005-03-16 (Post #516)

Hello darlings! Welcome back to my little corner of the universe, Pink Tutu World! This week I’m sharing all about my fabulous journey to Planet Earth! It’s a beautiful planet, so full of vibrant colour and fascinating creatures. And let me tell you, it’s absolutely buzzing with an exciting energy that reminds me of a perfect pirouette.

I'm a firm believer that everyone on every planet should experience the magic of ballet. That's why I embarked on this little intergalactic jaunt, to bring the joy of the dance to every corner of the galaxy, one shimmering tutu at a time! As always, it was an amazing journey – I got to see so many incredible things!

First of all, I had to travel by spaceship, of course! It wasn't as extravagant as my custom pink spaceship - a bit more functional - but the journey was incredible. We even flew through a meteor shower! They were so sparkling and pretty! Like thousands of diamonds scattered across the sky.

Planet Earth has such a wonderfully diverse landscape. It's all lush green and shimmering blue – think a perfect ballet scene painted in vibrant colours.

My first port of call was London, you know, where my very own journey into ballet began, right there on the planet Earth. It was my grandma's idea, bless her! She enrolled me in my first ever ballet class when I was a tiny tot in Derbyshire, England. That tiny tot quickly grew to love dancing and now, I've had the chance to bring the elegance of ballet to so many new places in the universe. The feeling I get when I’m on stage, dressed in my perfectly-pink tutu and twinkling ballet shoes – there's simply nothing like it, is there?

The London ballet scene has certainly flourished since I last danced on Earth. You can’t imagine the amazing street performers! There was one particular artist that wowed me – she danced a beautiful story of life and death with only one shoe. She danced, jumped and even balanced a teacup on her head, all the while looking incredible. You wouldn't think that street dance would be able to tell such powerful stories, would you? But this one definitely did. I nearly forgot to catch the 4pm Royal Ballet performance, but as always, a cuppa from Fortnum & Mason calmed my nerves. It's amazing how one little sip of their Darjeeling Tea is a calming balm to the soul.

The Royal Ballet performance was pure enchantment! A whole production dedicated to the art of the pointe shoe – just glorious. A real visual feast for a true ballet lover! And while we are talking ballet shoes, darling – my dear friend in the shoe shop at Covent Garden showed me these amazing bespoke pointe shoes, that were actually custom-made with little LED lights to create beautiful lighting effects on stage! Now, I wonder what's the best way to incorporate lights on my pink tutus?! I do love a touch of whimsy.

One of my favorite things about planet Earth is its fantastic fashion. You just know, whenever I step out on a fashion hunt, there will be at least one shop filled with tulle and lace, perfect for adding to my tutu collection! My travels here had me indulging in the wonderful fashion scene of Covent Garden. Oh, and let's not forget my other little fashion find! A magnificent emerald green velvet evening coat at Liberty London, oh it was just divine!

But beyond the clothes, it’s the people of Planet Earth that truly amazed me. The smile of a child learning their first steps, the excitement of a budding dancer perfecting a grand jeté, and the dedication of seasoned performers who dedicate their lives to perfecting their art. They all made me see the world through pink-tinted glasses, in a good way of course!

You wouldn't believe the amount of beautiful, bold colors they use in their designs! From deep sapphire blues to vibrant fuchsias and radiant sunshine yellows, it's enough to make you feel utterly charmed, darling! And of course, the colours inspired me to go to my very favorite fabric shop to find a whole new selection of stunning pink fabrics, perfectly shimmering to make more dazzling tutus. I plan to bring all my amazing creations back with me on the next leg of my journey.

My favourite moment from the entire trip has to be when I watched a group of children practicing their ballet moves in Hyde Park. There they were, performing their tiny steps in the heart of a huge, bustling city! There's something truly special about how ballet can flourish in any environment, even amongst the most unexpected crowds! It reminds me that grace and beauty can be found anywhere you look. I even found myself participating in the lessons, I love sharing my passion for ballet with new people, whether they be aliens, humans, or even the tiny adorable bunnies that were hiding under the park’s cherry blossoms!

Now, I’m off to share my stories with all of my fellow pink-tutu wearing friends! But don't worry – I'll be back next week with a fresh batch of planetary stories, because I'm not slowing down! There's so much to discover on this fascinating, sparkly planet called Earth. Until next week, darling – keep those tutus twirling, and remember to find the magic in every step you take!

Until then, Emma xo
