Pink Tutu World: Post Number 605 - Ballet on Planet Earth (2006-11-29)

Darling dears,

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another fabulous blog post! As you all know, I'm Emma, a Derbyshire girl at heart, but I’ve been bouncing around the universe, spreading the joy of pink tutus, ever since I graduated from the prestigious Royal Ballet School.

This week, I've been gallivanting around Planet Earth. Oh, it's been an absolute whirlwind of sequins and sparkle!

A Ballet-Filled Day on Planet Earth

The highlight of this week has been attending the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London for a truly spectacular performance of Swan Lake. Let me tell you, darling dears, I practically levitated in my seat, it was just THAT good!

Those costumes! Oh, the lavish feathered head-dresses and voluminous tutus – I simply couldn’t tear my eyes away. The delicate choreography, the stunningly talented dancers, and the enchanting music; it was just breathtaking. I nearly danced out of my seat, I swear!

The ballerina playing Odette, a graceful swan with exquisite form, absolutely floored me. And those pliés, oh darling, those pliés… divine! You can bet I’ll be back for another performance very soon.

A Peek at Planet Earth's Dance History

But, it wasn’t all about the modern performance. This visit to Planet Earth, I felt the need to get myself to the Victoria & Albert Museum – the home of incredible collections of fashion, furniture and artwork. My dears, it’s the perfect place to get inspired by history! And, of course, it just wouldn’t be right to be on Planet Earth and not see the magnificent history of ballet fashion and those breathtaking tutus of times gone by.

Oh, to be able to dance around in some of the beautiful ball gowns and elaborate costumes in those galleries. I imagine twirling through time, experiencing the evolution of the ballet tutu. My, oh my, just imagining that makes my heart skip a beat!

Fashion Fix in London

What trip to Planet Earth would be complete without some retail therapy? Of course! I took the opportunity to indulge my inner fashionista and popped into the iconic Liberty department store for a spot of clothes shopping. Now, don’t judge me, darlings! As you all know, my wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without a touch of sparkle, so a visit to London would be remiss without visiting a few of those grand old fashion houses.

And let me tell you, the shop assistants doted on me! I felt like royalty surrounded by exquisite fabrics and dreamy designs. I even got myself a magnificent sequined dress and a pair of ballet flats with a fabulous feather trim. Just perfect! They'll make a great addition to my fabulous collection!

Adventures of a Tutu-Clad Explorer

So, Planet Earth is an extraordinary world for any fashion-loving ballerina! It has all the elements for a fantastic adventure.

As I’m writing this, darling dears, I’m about to take my private spaceship back to my own little space station, and I’m filled with anticipation for my next planetary adventure. But remember this, Wherever I go, the pink tutu goes too!

Stay fabulous and spread the tutu-joy,

Emma

*Outfit Deets: *

On this trip to Planet Earth, I sported my favourite "Dancing with the Stars" sequin tutu (made for a very special show I performed in 2006! The crowd went wild, they really did!), topped with a stunning silver satin bomber jacket. My pink stilettos are a must, obviously! And to add a touch of Earthly charm, I tied a blush pink ribbon around my hair. Don't forget your sparkle, dears, and never let anyone tell you can't dance on a planet. It's all about expression. You go girl!

Emma’s Fave Moments From Planet Earth: 2006-11-29:

  1. Swan Lake Performance: My, oh my! It took my breath away! I felt my spirit soaring!

  2. V&A Museum Fashion: That beautiful ballet costume exhibition! All the different eras, so dreamy. And to think the fashion changed so dramatically! Those magnificent headdresses – a ballerina’s dream!

  3. London Fashion: Those shops on Bond Street, wow, just wow. I got a truly stunning sequined evening gown for my upcoming intergalactic tour.

  4. Seeing Big Ben: You know how much I adore those stately London landmarks. The clocks were a perfect symmetrical element in the city scape! My heart soared with that historic charm.

*Things Happening on Planet Earth on 2006-11-29: *

Liverpool are winning against Bolton, so let’s hear it for the Red boys!

Planet Earth’s Music Charts are dominated by Gwen Stefani and The Killers, and that just makes my dancing shoes tap even faster!

This day in 2006 was a Wednesday! Just like this blog post, isn't that fun?
