Pink Tutu World: Planet Earth Blog - Post #616

Wednesday 14th February 2007

Darling readers,

Happy Valentine's Day! Can you believe it's February already? Time flies when you're pirouetting across the cosmos, doesn't it? Speaking of pirouetting, this week's post is all about my recent trip to...wait for it...Planet Earth!

Yes, my darlings, this Earthly ball was on my interstellar itinerary this month. Now, you might be thinking "Emma, you've already been to Planet Earth! Why return?". Well, my dears, I'm a girl who likes a bit of variety. A sprinkle of celestial diversity, you might say!

And besides, there's nothing quite like revisiting a favourite place, especially when it's buzzing with Valentine's Day cheer. You all know I love a bit of romance, and Earth never fails to deliver! The entire planet was decked out in hearts, roses, and...wait for it...tutus!

That's right, darlings! My favourite dance wear was everywhere. Even the cheeky little cherubs on those "Cupid's Arrow" valentines cards were sporting them! The only difference, however, was they weren't a delightful shade of pink. Tut tut! I guess a little bit of colour correction never hurts, even on a holiday dedicated to love!

Speaking of colour, let's chat about my own outfit. Naturally, it was a glorious ensemble. Think sparkling pink sequined tutu, flowing silk tulle cape with a glittering heart-shaped broach, and a pair of sky-high pink pumps to boot! Even the spaceship's interior, normally decorated in classic celestial blues and purples, was temporarily transformed into a vision of pink loveliness! I swear, the air shimmered with a delightful blush of happiness!

Now, onto the adventures! After touching down on this beautiful, green, (yes, it really is that colour!) planet, I ventured to the vibrant city of London. London is just such a fun city for a ballerina! There was so much going on: shows, parades, and the most dazzling shops bursting with all kinds of pink tulle, you name it!

And let's not forget the performances! You see, my dearest blog followers, you know I have to be true to my roots, so the first thing I did was attend a fantastic ballet performance at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. I confess, a couple of my spaceship friends even dressed up as ballet dancers and surprised me backstage! Now, let's just say there were some seriously entertaining backstage moments after the performance...but we'll leave that for another blog, darling readers!

However, this wasn't the only ballet event on my itinerary. There was also a stunning open-air performance by some talented street dancers. Imagine! A whole square filled with pink tutus and graceful pirouettes under the warm London sunshine. Just the sight of all those sparkling tutus spinning in the afternoon sun filled me with so much joy! I really felt that special "pink tutu" magic.

Oh, and the shopping! My trip to Planet Earth wouldn't have been complete without a little retail therapy. I stumbled upon the most gorgeous antique tutu collection at a shop called "Dancing Days" in the Notting Hill area. Imagine delicate handmade lace tutus from the 1800s. They were absolutely stunning, each one a work of art! Now, I'm no hoarder, but there was just a little pink velvet pouch with a little tutu hidden at the bottom of my carry-on bag... Oops!

I couldn't resist popping into some of those big London department stores too. It was a miracle that my bags didn't burst at the seams! You'd think I was at the end of a season's worth of performances, the amount of pink tulle I gathered! Speaking of which, let's talk about fashion, darlings.

Earth is so ahead of the curve in terms of trends. I discovered a wonderful shop that sells beautiful custom tutus – the owner even offered to create a bespoke one for me, with pink and silver sparkles! My dream custom-made tutu. A true testament to the Earthly imagination!

There's a bit of a twist, though...it turns out I had to order the tulle from Earth for delivery to the ship, so, it's coming in a little late! Honestly, a couple of my fellow interstellar travellers died when they saw this gorgeous tulle. But the drama and wait, all for a pink, sparkle tutu,? Yes, please!

You can probably tell, I had an absolutely pink-tastic time on Earth. It really was the most wonderful holiday – and just the sort of romantic escape I needed! Of course, you all know my goal is to get everyone in the universe wearing a pink tutu – but maybe, after all those tutus and sparkly dance moments, my time on Planet Earth convinced even the most sceptical folks that the pink is really in the future! (Don't forget the sparkles, of course! 😉)

Remember

If you’re a little bit pink obsessed, and need a pink tulle fix, you know where to find me - on www.pink-tutu.com, of course. Join the Pink Tutu Movement and share the sparkle, darlings! I'll be back next Wednesday with another exciting update! Until then, remember to dance like no one is watching…and be sure to do it in a gorgeous pink tutu!

Yours always,

Emma xx
