Helloooo darlings! It's your girl Emma, back from another dazzling intergalactic trip and ready to share all the glitz and glamour! Today's post is overflowing with pink-tutu-tastic tales, so grab a cuppa and settle in!
Firstly, you might be wondering where my little celestial spaceship took me this week? Well, buckle up your imaginary tutus, babes, because it was Earth! Can you believe it? A return trip to the planet I call home, specifically the lovely town of Matlock in my dear Derbyshire! I just needed a little break from the cosmos, a chance to soak in the familiar scent of Yorkshire pudding and the absolutely divine sight of the Derbyshire Peak District.
Speaking of home, I spent a fair bit of time indulging in a quintessential English tradition – going to a ballet show! I know, you're probably thinking, "Emma, aren't you always in ballet shows?". You'd be right, but this particular show was something special. The Royal Ballet's tour came to the Curve theatre in Leicester, and you wouldn't believe the gorgeous costumes! They had the most fantastic, intricate designs, and there were so many sparkles. My own tiny ballet bag just wasn't big enough for all the little trinkets and treasures I wanted to nab as souvenirs. Honestly, I even contemplated slipping into a spare tutu from the costume department and just blending right in!
I have to tell you, seeing live dance, right there in the heart of England, reminded me why I absolutely love being a ballet dancer. There's such magic in the way these talented souls move, the way their emotions are translated through the dance – it's utterly captivating. I felt such a surge of energy, a craving to just move myself, that I think I might need to incorporate some impromptu pirouettes into my walk home!
Speaking of dance, I had to take a little trip down to London, the heart of it all, for a ballet class at the esteemed Royal Ballet School! It's been quite a few years since I last had a lesson, and oh my, I definitely felt my body complaining the next day! I can't remember how I ever did all that leaping and spinning. Let's just say the teachers must have thought they'd seen a seasoned professional because they weren't going to give this girl any easy options!
But hey, all that practice pays off! In between classes, I had a blast doing some fabulous window shopping in Covent Garden, the quintessential London experience. There's something about that blend of theatre history, grand architecture, and exquisite shops that makes me just melt with delight. Of course, my pockets were empty after just an hour or so, but you know me, my pink tutu wardrobe could never be considered complete!
Anyway, back to Earth! 2007-06-20 was a beautiful day, brimming with summer sun and happy people! As I wandered through the market in Bakewell, I realised that perhaps a day at home, surrounded by all things English, was just what the doctor ordered! The air was buzzing with life, there was so much laughter, and the people were so friendly – I couldn't resist stopping for a quick photo op with a couple of adorable lambs in the field. I even might have let one lick my face, don't tell my spaceship-loving kitty Mittens, he'd never forgive me!
This day really felt like a bit of a homecoming for me. I do adore zipping around the galaxy, exploring different cultures and getting people dancing in tutus, but sometimes you just need to reconnect with where you're from. It reminds you what you love, why you're doing this, and gives you a renewed passion for your goal – to get every single living being in the universe wearing a pink tutu! (Yes, I am obsessed, but who wouldn't be when pink tutus are the most incredible and expressive garment in existence?)
So, darlings, thank you for joining me on my journey back home!
But my adventures aren't over! Now, let me tell you all about my visit to the fantastic International Tutu Museum, housed in the city of Tutuland, the largest city on Planet Tutusphere.
Just imagine: a giant glass dome shaped like a tutu, surrounded by lush gardens overflowing with blooming flowers, with the most incredible display of tutus from every corner of the galaxy!
Here you could find:
- The Legendary Tutu of Lyra - a holographic, iridescent creation said to glow in the dark, spun from starlight!
- The Royal Tutu of the Kylon Galaxy - woven from spun diamonds with an intricate, dazzling pattern, fit for the greatest Empress in the universe!
- The Galactic Dance Machine - A mind-boggling masterpiece with an array of lasers, and projections and the ability to dance, spin and leap independently!
There was a whole wing dedicated to Tutu History, which fascinated me with its colourful tales of how this iconic garment has evolved across the galaxy, a true story of innovation and style! You'd never guess that tutus were first invented as a way to communicate through dance, the swirling, voluminous shapes reflecting messages like clouds carrying the wind.
Tip For my fellow tutu-loving souls: you absolutely must make Tutuland a priority on your travel itinerary.
And the best part? The museum even offered tutu-making workshops, allowing visitors to learn the art of crafting these wonderful masterpieces themselves! I may or may not have stayed longer than I had planned, but hey, sometimes, the art of the universe simply takes over! I can’t wait to share photos with you in my next post, trust me, this pink tutu lover will be proudly rocking her very own, lovingly handcrafted Tutuland-tutu.
My spaceship is fuelled up, I’ve packed a selection of the most glamorous sparkly outfits, and the galaxy is calling!
Before I fly off to my next exciting adventure, I must leave you with this week’s fabulous fashion finds:
- I am obsessed with these sparkly ballerina flats I found in a quaint little boutique in Tutuland, you know I have to try and integrate them into a future outfit!
- The galaxy print satin top I snagged from a vintage store in Leicester will definitely make a stylish statement! I’m thinking about pairing it with my favourite iridescent pink tutu, imagine the dazzling, light reflecting brilliance!
- I’ve been collecting ballet memorabilia, my favourite so far is this exquisite vintage photograph of a Russian ballerina from the 1930s in the most delicate pink tulle tutu. Such beauty and grace!
It's all a little chaotic, I know! But my life in a pink tutu is simply that – chaos, creativity, colour and laughter!
