Pink Tutu World: Post 640 - Ballet on Planet Earth! (August 1st, 2007)

Darling readers,

It’s Wednesday! Which means a new blog post! This week is a bit different from usual – I'm back on dear old planet Earth after a whirlwind of adventures across the cosmos! The stars just aligned perfectly for a return visit to my homeland, Derbyshire, and oh my goodness, what a treat!

Remember those glorious days of summers past? I, for one, definitely do, and the Earth seems to have managed to pull it out of the bag again with sunshine, blue skies and temperatures hotter than a balerina’s heated pointe shoes (although I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping for a spot of rain to allow for some dreamy, misty shots of the rolling hills!)

Since my last Earth-based adventure, I have been so busy on my intergalactic travels! This week’s been filled with so much excitement - a dance workshop with the glorious Martians on Mars, a whirlwind trip to the Lunar New Year celebration on the Moon (a breathtaking experience with spectacular moon-cheese dumplings!), and even a bit of tutu-twirling amongst the constellations of the Andromeda Galaxy!

Of course, nothing beats coming back to the old stomping ground. Planet Earth holds a special place in my cosmic heart. My arrival on Earth wasn’t just for the breathtaking British summer, though. It coincided with an absolute dream – a ballet performance in my beloved Derbyshire!

Can you imagine the sheer delight of a night spent amidst the heavenly dance steps of a troupe of professional ballerinas? The Derby Theatre, nestled in the heart of this delightful county, is an architectural gem and provided the most spectacular setting. My heart truly soared!

There’s something so magical about witnessing a ballet. I often find myself completely immersed, lost in the storytelling woven by movement, music, and the sheer talent of those captivating ballerinas! The dancers' costumes, a rainbow of shimmering silks, lace, and tulle, left me breathless – each twirl a brushstroke across the canvas of my imagination. The music, a whirlwind of melody and rhythm, stirred my very soul. And then, there's the magic of ballet storytelling itself! A night at the theatre is a reminder of how impactful dance can be. It reminds me that even with a single leap or a graceful pirouette, stories can be told, emotions can be conveyed, and hearts can be touched.

After the ballet, I indulged in a little retail therapy in the vibrant city of Derby! Oh, the sheer joy of a shopping spree! New additions to my wardrobe have given my already overflowing wardrobe a new lease on life. Now I’m ready to strut my stuff across the Earth, showcasing some new pieces! Think bright, bold patterns and luxurious textures - perfect for that Parisian ballerina vibe.

I’m so excited to share a peek into some of my recent purchases on this blog, including some spectacular new shoes! The shoes, you say? Absolutely! Ballet shoes are my absolute favourite and there's just something magical about finding the perfect pair. I couldn't leave Derby without adding a new pair to my collection, my darling!

I mean, what’s better than twirling in a tutu? It's practically illegal not to have one in your closet! For all you fashion enthusiasts on planet Earth, do yourself a favour - check out the local boutique scene. There are hidden gems out there just waiting to be discovered. You might find that special piece that turns heads! You might even find your dream tutu...or maybe it's a beautiful summer dress? Whatever your style, the hunt is on!

The shops here on planet Earth are bursting with exciting finds! Even I, a dedicated shopper, felt like a kid in a candy shop, overwhelmed with choice! But trust me, after a little exploration, you’ll unearth treasures waiting to be loved and cherished.

The Earth has certainly not lost its charm. And as I head back into the universe, I know I will be leaving a little bit of my heart, a tiny, shimmering sequin, on this charming little planet!

Speaking of sequins and sparkle, have you seen the new collection of tutus that are landing in the cosmos? My goodness! Imagine, the pink tutus are now paired with iridescent blue sequins! The entire universe is awash in a wave of breathtaking pastel hues! You can catch me dancing the night away on a comet in this sensational outfit in my next post!

And in the meantime, keep those twirls, twirls, twirls coming!

Until next Wednesday, darling readers!

Yours truly,

Emma

A Blast from the Past: Some of the 2007 Planet Earth highlights:

I know it's Wednesday, darling readers, but the past week has been a whirl of exciting discoveries on planet Earth! Here are a few highlights from the planet Earth:

  • The World of Ballet - My Passion!: As a tutu-wearing space traveler, I'm utterly captivated by the stories of ballet. On my latest voyage, I’ve been discovering some incredible stories about ballerinas throughout the years, their dedication, talent, and, of course, their beautiful tutus! It seems like the 19th century was an especially golden era for tutu fashion, with many intricate designs and details being crafted by skilled seamstresses! One ballet, in particular, called to me – The Sleeping Beauty. It is quite a timeless story and I'm intrigued to see how it plays out on stage!

  • Music and Ballet : Can we talk about the amazing world of musical accompaniment for ballets? A lot of the iconic music came from well-known composers of the 19th century such as Tchaikovsky and even some works by Rimsky-Korsakov - a truly inspirational pairing. These compositions seem to be just as popular today as they were a century ago. Maybe they even stand the test of time?

  • Vintage Fashion Delights: Since my recent adventures in the galaxy, I found myself completely immersed in planet Earth’s fashion trends, past and present! What is so enchanting about planet Earth’s style is the way its history keeps reappearing and inspiring new trends. This was true, particularly, in fashion from the 1920s and 1950s. Both decades oozed such incredible, iconic glamour and have heavily influenced current style on the planet! I have been so inspired by the style and I can’t wait to experiment with this retro-futuristic mix in my own outfit creations!

  • Tutu Talk: Have you all seen this gorgeous vintage tutu from the Victorian Era? Imagine a sheer, graceful layer of tulle with stunning embroidery – just incredible. The attention to detail is breathtaking. And there’s another style I’m completely in love with – the pouter tutu, often seen in ballets such as "Swan Lake" and "Giselle". The layers and tiers on these styles are just incredible, they make it almost appear as though the ballerina is a bird about to take flight! I know what my next tutu-inspired creation has to be! I will post pictures next week!

  • Earthly Fashion: The best fashion discoveries from this recent trip! While it wasn't easy to decide, the must-have items were these new additions to my ever-growing tutu collection! Imagine the sheer delight – a shimmering silver tutu and an even more dazzling pair of ballet shoes! I'll be pairing it all together with an off-white, elegant lace blouse for the ultimate romantic style. Oh, don't worry, darling readers! I’ll be showing them all off in my next post!

  • The Power of Performance: In a world full of stories to be told, one way I love sharing them is through dance! I've recently been following some brilliant performances by choreographers on Planet Earth. I'm truly inspired by how each choreographer breathes life into stories using the medium of dance! It's quite a captivating and unique language!

  • From the Streets to the Stage: Did you know that ballet has had an enormous influence on contemporary dance, particularly, street dance? It seems street dance performers find the style, form and discipline of ballet so valuable – and their performances are breathtaking!

I'm absolutely in awe of the planet Earth. The cultural dynamism and sheer inventiveness on this planet keep surprising me, even when it comes to my beloved dance forms!

It was so fun to share all of these delights with you! It seems that the world on Planet Earth really is a place full of wonder!

See you next week!
