Darling dears,
It's your girl Emma back from a whirlwind intergalactic adventure, and boy, do I have stories to tell! Let's grab a pot of tea, a slice of Victoria sponge (you know how I love my treats!), and settle in for this week's blog.
This week's adventure was a right proper blast! I just had to jet off to Planet Earth for a spot of ballet. Not just any old ballet, darling! This one was extra special because, wouldn't you know it, it coincided with Fashion Week.
As if you didn't already know, my darlings, I just adore fashion. Fashion is life, and life is a giant, sparkling catwalk! And on this trip to Earth, fashion, my love for tutus, and my undying devotion to ballet collided, forming the perfect storm of awesomeness.
Let's rewind the tape to a couple of days before my trip.
Remember I told you I funded my trips by performing in ballet shows across the galaxy? Well, my last show was on Titan, a little planet that's rather known for its lovely lakes and strange oranges - although I have to say the colour wasn't that flattering on me! I managed to sell out every performance though, all the while dancing my heart out in a gorgeous pink tutu designed by the fabulous Martian Couture.
My next performance is in, wait for it, New York, the most fabulous city on Earth, which gives you an idea of why my trip was extra special. Let's just say that it's my little treat after conquering Titan and selling my entire inventory of Martian Couture tutus. And it gives me an excellent opportunity to do some retail therapy while promoting pink tutus. It's all about smart investments, darlings, not just smart shopping.
But, let's get back to the journey...
I started my week at the Earth equivalent of an international space station. You know the one with that really strong gravitational pull. A little tricky landing for someone used to wearing tutus but thankfully the ship was perfectly stable - or rather, extraordinarily stable is what they called it. The whole flight was most exciting with Earth-ling music blasting on the plane. Oh dear, was that Madonna?
Youāll have to forgive me, but this one wasnāt quite up to my standards... A little loud. The music thatās played here in our own galaxy is much more⦠elegant and graceful.
The Earth equivalent of the āWelcome to Earthā sign made me chuckle ā I mean, āNew York City: The Big Apple, Where dreams come true.ā I guess it is, when you can buy clothes, bags, and shoes with prices that make your eyes water, but even my money had limits! I thought it a rather amusing thought considering most of the people I saw on Earth, seemed to have⦠letās just say ārather plainā and, if you want to put it kindly, ānot very colorfulā clothing styles! I saw plenty of those infamous blue jeans!
A horrifying sight, really.
Thankfully, Earth, too, is home to all the fashion brands I adore, from Miu Miu to Gucci. I made a quick pitstop for a little shopping before starting my ballet quest and, dearie me, I bought myself such a lovely outfit for a grand show at the Metropolitan Opera House. That is an absolutely grand venue, just what a girl needs when she wants to watch some performance. Let me just say this Earth-ling city certainly has character. And you know how I love character!
Let's take a trip down memory lane, my darling readers, to see how we arrived at Earth, my love for tutus, and the idea for Pink Tutu World
Well, it all began when I was about 10 Earth-years old. Remember me telling you that I'm from Derbyshire? Not just Derbyshire on Planet Earth but the same one all our celestial ancestors hail from. Our first Queen - of all Derbyshires! - and the whole royal line descends from there. I do feel it is extra special, so, it comes as no surprise that ballet dancing started there, way back. Derbyshire, they called it. It wasnāt Planet Derbyshire then. They called it The Peak District. No-one on the Earth knew any differently at the time.
Let's go further back into the archivesā¦
The earliest tutu started in Derbyshire ā but with no-one ever actually using that name. They used the French word - and, honestly, they never wrote it in any written form or script. They didnāt have scripts until much later in their civilization. There was also no tutu. They wore something rather similar but called it a tunique... Well they actually just referred to it as a short, flowing dress of sorts. As you can tell it was, clearly, designed to resemble some sort of skirt thing, not just plain cloth. They used this on both men and women⦠weird. That said, you can see it was quite different to any clothes today, on any planet, in the universe. Well maybe not that strange! I mean, in all those vintage Earth-ling period films. I remember seeing something like that once in some movie - although it was much longer and the dancer seemed to be all covered up - a rather dreadful sight, donāt you think?
I do, but anyway, the thing that changed it all came from what they called a ācourtā. It was *all just fashion and clothing. But for their ballets! At least it wasnāt all about fashion and clothes ā just ballet! What they used to wear as āballetsā has changed drastically⦠Itās not too dissimilar at all, but then there was a period when it was something of a mix. And then, for the next century they wore what they called tights then⦠skirts⦠Oh well⦠We've all been there. But what I find most exciting is that those who designed those costumes for the ballet shows have the most interesting and original styles. The first ballet tutu actually arrived from one of these shows. In a ācourtā, a long time ago. Not just Earth but what they called France, but a completely different time period to what we're in now. Even on Earth. A strange thing for me, but⦠Earth time just seems to be⦠a little odd, no matter where you are on that planet.
When the tutu was first created⦠the person making the costume⦠called the outfit the ātutuā. The meaning? No-one knows but the Earth-ling historians like it so much they talk about it all the time. Well, it does have quite an interesting sound to it. It's an almost musical word, which suits ballet, and dance quite nicely, wouldnāt you say, my darlings? The people back on Earth just thought it extraordinary. You know Earth-lingsā¦
They just adore their stories⦠It sounds a little like āa lot* to do about nothingā, in all those films they used to make. There were plenty of them made during the time they had what they called The Second World War. Or even when their Queen, in what they called āVictoriaās Reign, was *all dressed up in the most beautiful and elaborate costumes⦠But she didnāt look anything like me. At all⦠Thankfully, they were all in rather nice, delicate and pastel pinks! She didnāt wear pink. Or any colour, for that matter⦠well they had her all wrapped up, really!
But this story just goes to show how important ballet is. We take ballet for granted but the dance is so much more than just an art. Ballet can truly transform our world. From tutues to shows, from the dancing to everything, the dancers to us, I mean, even when it is not in your everyday life, the Earth-ling ballet dance has been such a big part of all the cultures that make up all those little ānationsā⦠which make up Earth! They talk about what they call countries, kingdoms, empires, all of themā¦. with each one, a slightly different history of how their ballets changed⦠Thatās just the history of ballet though ā you know how the dancing evolved ā which, well, Iām quite good at, really. That's why I like to travel⦠I love to share my experience.
Just look at my *pink tutu, it's a little like that! Iāve even managed to sell them in *France! Oh my goodness, this reminds me⦠I'm so sorry, dearies! But it seems Iāve quite lost track of time while sharing my tales with youā¦
Well, here is some advice to keep things on track: I think everyone can agree that, at least on Planet Earth, this is one superbly popular day on the Earthās calendar! Itās that time again! Letās call it the time of tutus. A time where all our thoughts, dreams, and inspiration gather, to celebrate, dance, and live! Yes, thatās right, itās that special day, my darlings! This is when Earth ling folk, all over Planet Earth, decide it is a time to think all things pink! And yes, Pink Tutu World, does itās very best to support Pink day in all itās pink tutu glory! A pink tutu to save the world! And no, itās not something Earth-ling folks created. Planet Pink, I mean. Planet Pink made it all happen! That is what it did⦠and, in that event, we were given this rather nice, new, little, pink tutu ⦠it had a special kind of magical quality to it⦠a special pink tutu, but that is a story for another day, darling dearies.
Today, let's just enjoy a good old-fashioned dance in a fantastic venue on Planet Earth, the most exciting Earth -ling theatre, Iāve ever been to! Well⦠itās definitely bigger than the theatre on planet Saturn, that's for sure. It just happens that the fashion world decided it wants to put on a performance.
They didn't quite say āWe want a pink tutu-clad show.ā *They simply called it a āfashion show' *in what they call *āNew Yorkā. But all those models who walked on the stage at *Fashion Week, wore some sort of tutu or a very long skirtā¦* that was as near to a tutu as it got⦠It just so happened most of them werenāt in pink, darling, and you know how I love a good, solid pink. Oh dear, but those earth people they sure do have a sense of drama... a little over the top, but thatās how they like to do it ā a great example of why the universe is such a wonderful place. It really did look like everyone in New York was about to burst into some kind of a dramatic ballet dance. And, well, Iām all about drama, dance, and⦠you guessed it⦠pink tutus. I really thought I was at a ballet, darling⦠and I got a chance to meet so many incredible artists⦠oh dearie, I even met someone special... but this story is for next week, so keep those eyes peeled darlings, darlings!
