Planet Earth Post #647: From Derbyshire to Deep Space – A Ballet Ballerina's Galactic Adventure! ✨

Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your resident Pink Tutu Princess, and today, we’re taking a little trip down memory lane… well, a big cosmic trip actually!

This Wednesday’s blog post is dedicated to my trip to Planet Earth back in 2007. 🗓️ Honestly, sometimes I can’t believe how much has happened since then! You know, you go on these crazy galactic escapades, dance your little heart out in sparkling new tutus across the cosmos, and you just end up thinking, “What have I got planned for tomorrow?!” It’s all just a blur!

Flashback to 2007: A Pink Tutu Journey Begins 🩰

Remember the good old days? Earth was just starting to get to grips with internet blogs – I literally had to explain to people what a blog was sometimes! 👵

Anyway, the good thing about it was that it meant a much smaller internet. Much smaller. It meant I had space for my beautiful Pink Tutu World! It also meant that everything felt a lot more special back then. Especially trips back to my home planet!

2007 was a big year for Pink Tutu World! I’d just finished my intergalactic ballet tour across Andromeda – we performed ‘Swan Lake’ under the aurora borealis on Titan, if you can believe it – it was pure magic! And I’d just decided to start doing my weekly blog – what a good idea!

And that’s where the adventure really began!

I had a really exciting gig lined up at the Royal Albert Hall. The Queen was attending – the Queen! And guess what – she wore pink. I’d even managed to get my own little ballet number into the show – they call me a pioneer in the tutu-business because I did a quick, impromptu pink-tutu choreography and incorporated it into a classic piece! 👑

It was really quite a sight – me in a sparkling pink tutu performing ballet for Her Majesty! Honestly, you never know where a pink tutu will take you!

Earth – The Planet of Colour and Fashion

Once I’d finished the show at the Royal Albert Hall, it was off to one of my favourite planet earth shops, Harrods! Of course! It’s the Mecca of fashion and colour! There’s no other place like it on Earth! A kaleidoscope of the world’s most luxurious goods! It’s a true wonderland for the fashion-forward like myself! 💖

I picked out a brand new pink tutu – absolutely perfect, complete with sparkly pink feathers! Then it was on to a rather charming cafe called The Orangery. It’s right by Kensington Gardens! Everything tastes a bit nicer in England. There’s a very special flavour! 😊

After lunch, I took the opportunity to check out a few of the local antique shops for some tutus with a little vintage flair! You wouldn’t believe the finds! I unearthed some truly stunning, antique pink tutus – the original tutus worn by dancers in the Victorian era! 😍

I took all my finds home to my family cottage in Derbyshire, so they could marvel over my rare fashion finds. They still can’t believe the stories I tell! Especially not my travel stories – but they always know I’m off on my latest adventure, in my pink tutu. And they’ve just learnt to trust me. 😌

I actually can’t believe how long I stayed for – a whole two days! And of course, I just had to visit my Mum! You know, when you’re jet-setting through space, it really makes you appreciate spending quality time with your family. Mother’s wisdom is one of life’s greatest treasures! And even the most extraordinary adventures become much richer when shared. 🌟

And anyway – no matter where I go, I know I can always come home to a cuppa, a hug, and of course – the comforting countryside of Derbyshire! 🥰

*On 19 September, 2007… *

Now, for those of you keeping up, 19 September is actually a very special day for me – because it’s the date that my great-great-aunt’s autobiography on the history of tutus, ‘Dancing Dreams’, came out in hardback. The publishing house went into overdrive, you know? The Daily Mail loved her. She even managed to get onto the Today show. You couldn’t turn on the TV back in those days without seeing this sweet, older, charming, ballerina woman in her signature fluffy pink tutu – what an inspirational, positive icon for the generation!

She said she'd got a few ideas for me about a global fashion tour – to celebrate all those vintage and historical tutus that I've been collecting… and for spreading the good word of ballet! I can’t help thinking it’ll turn into one big, fabulous pink tutu parade… who knows? Maybe one day I’ll finally get everyone in the universe wearing pink tutus. That's the dream. 💕

But before you start imagining all that, let’s remember why we're here today!

This post is all about remembering how far I've come - and what amazing things have happened over the last few years since I’ve started sharing all my pink-tutu experiences!

Remember… we may not be all-knowing and all-powerful – yet – but we can learn a lot from those that came before us. Especially the amazing ladies that made the tutu what it is today! 💅🏼 So next time you wear your favourite tutu, take a moment to remember all those extraordinary dancers from the past, all their creative genius and hard work - especially the generations before you, who created all the styles, techniques and ideas that inspire you. It’s really a big pink, beautiful, creative dance journey that you're stepping into when you slip on your own special tutu – so appreciate those who came before and embrace your own pink, stylish destiny!

Now, get ready, because it’s going to be an amazing week, full of dazzling dance, shopping and fun, all for my wonderful Pink Tutu World! Remember, darling, there’s never a wrong time to wear a tutu. So, grab your most sparkly pink one and dance your heart out, no matter where your dreams take you! ✨

This Wednesday's Tip for Your Tutu Travels: “Remember to make friends with the local fairies. They always seem to have the best advice for a ballerina's journey! ✨”

See you all next Wednesday! 💖
