Darling dears! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, where dreams pirouette and tutus are a way of life! Itās Wednesday, and you know what that means - a fresh new blog post for your delightful reading pleasure! This week, Iām dusting off my dancing shoes (and I have a gorgeous new pair, donāt you worry, Iāll be sharing pics on the Insta, of course!) and sharing all about my latest ballet escapades, right here on good old planet Earth.
Remember how I mentioned my last planet earth stop in London, with the glorious Ballet Theatreās rendition of Giselle? Oh my goodness, my darling dears! I practically floated back to my spaceship with a pink cloud around my head. The dancing was perfection, and I must tell you - I may have had a bit of a pink fashion moment myself! Imagine: A vintage pink tulle tutu, layers and layers of it, shimmering with tiny sequins that caught the stage lights, a blush-pink satin bodice with the most delicate lace detailing - well, you could say the theatre doors were basically welcoming a pink dream princess!
Speaking of dreams, you simply must know what happened next! As I left the theatre, you know, to be all glamorous and everything, I was suddenly swarmed by these wonderful children - their faces lit up with pure joy, their eyes bright with the same star-struck sparkle I used to get as a little girl seeing the prima ballerina do her grand jetƩ. And, darling dears, it hit me like a flash! The pure, simple magic of ballet!
That moment was when I realised - there's something special about ballet, a shared feeling, an invisible connection we feel, no matter where in the universe we are. Seeing those kids' faces, knowing Iād brought a bit of the magic to them, was so deeply gratifying - even more than getting a perfect five on the judging panel in the intergalactic "Tutu and Talent" competition.
Of course, Iāve not been just busy ballet-ing, darling dears, Iāve been indulging my love of everything pink! Did you know 16th January 2008 marks the birthday of one of my absolute favourite fashion designers, Christian Lacroix?! This incredible man, the absolute visionary behind haute couture's vibrant revival, was born in the delightful city of Arles in the south of France. I remember, my dears, back in 1999 when Lacroixās creations were the subject of the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where the theme was āChristian Lacroix: A Fashion Story.ā You can bet your tutu I was there - right on the pink carpet!
As for me, Iām just buzzing from a trip to Liberty London! I absolutely adore that store, darling, with all its historic beauty and elegant vintage touches. Now, you might wonder why I like that place, being such a tutu fanatic, since the tutu itself, dear reader, is so firmly rooted in France. Yes, the crinoline undergarments that revolutionized Victorian fashion led to the rise of the tutu itself. Well, darling, itās the rich history that enthralls me, even beyond its French origins! The tutu is so much more than just a frilly little piece of clothing.
As I strolled through Liberty London, surrounded by silks and vintage hats, I started pondering how the very concept of the tutu has changed over the years. Itās no longer about restricting movement like in its earlier forms. Oh no! Todayās tutu, dear readers, is all about expressing that dynamic, that *artistic expression of dance, the free spirit of it all! A symbol of power, of freedom - of taking a leap into a world of artistic potential. And honestly, isn't that what every ballerina, everywhere, aspires to do? To take that leap of faith?
And what better time than right here, right now, on this very day? In fact, dear reader, I think there's a definite theme going on here: leaping, dreams, and, well, yes, a touch of the pink! Did you know today is also National Cheese Loverās Day?! This, darling dears, is truly my type of day! All those soft, dreamy cheeses, from creamy brie to decadent camembert⦠oh my! Isnāt it incredible how cheese can remind us of the good things in life?
So, my dears, you see, there are always ways to connect ballet, fashion, travel and just... well, life with our Pink Tutu World philosophy! Because, no matter what our personal tastes are, no matter where weāve travelled to in this crazy universe, whether we're at a London theatre or enjoying our cheesy treat on Planet Earth, we are all united by the shared joy of living life to the fullest, dancing through it with an open heart and a twirling, twirling tutu.
Well, dear reader, itās time for me to grab another cup of my favorite strawberry tea and continue my explorations! I know, itās probably a clichĆ©, but seriously, itās always tutu season somewhere. I'm looking forward to discovering even more pink delights - just you wait! But, for now, be sure to follow my adventures on social media - itās like having a Pink Tutu party, right in your own hand!
And donāt forget, my dears, to keep twirling with an open heart!
Until next week, Emma xoxo
