Pink Tutu World: Post #723 - A Trip to Planet Earth - 2009-03-04

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, and oh my goodness, what a whirlwind of a week it's been! I'm finally back on Planet Earth after my latest adventure, and I’m already missing the stars. But don’t worry, my adventures will be back soon!

You see, I've been having the most incredible time zipping through space, visiting different planets, exploring their cultures and of course, trying to encourage their love of the pink tutu! It's quite the challenge sometimes - getting aliens used to the idea of twirling. It's so much fun seeing their faces when they realize how liberating a pirouette can be! But it’s so rewarding when I get someone rocking a fabulous pink tutu!

But enough about space for now! I’ve missed all the fabulousness of Planet Earth. And trust me, I've got plenty to catch up on! First of all, let's talk about 4th March 2009! Remember, dear readers, when I set out on my trip, the big news was that President Barack Obama was in office and everyone was going crazy about Slumdog Millionaire. The internet was also all about the ‘The Great Recession’, which was all very dramatic, don’t you think? Of course, my blog wasn’t mentioning anything of the sort. We focus on beautiful things at Pink Tutu World, like fabulous fashion!

On 4th March, I had the most lovely day catching up on all the news! Let’s just say my inbox was overflowing! Oh, I’ve also started working on my new show - a cosmic ballet extravaganza - Intergalactic Twirl. This one is going to be a real knockout, and I can’t wait to showcase it. But for now, you’ll have to be patient as my big announcement is a bit of a secret - so don’t even try asking in the comments, ok?

Let's get back to this week's news. Did you see what an utterly amazing week it was? Britain's Got Talent had just started, and all anyone could talk about was a brilliant 10-year-old singer called Hollie Steel. And did anyone else adore The Saturdays on CD:UK and those absolutely smashing Strictly Come Dancing outfits? You all know I love a fabulous frock so seeing all the amazing clothes was so exciting!

But hold on, we can’t forget the world of ballet. After a few weeks of exploration, I had to immerse myself in all things ‘dance’. As always, I caught a glimpse of Dancing on Ice - you simply cannot have a good gossip without Dancing On Ice. There was Strictly Come Dancing, which I had already caught while I was back on Planet Earth and of course, I saw The Royal Ballet’s Swan Lake. You've got to admire Tchaikovsky. And let’s not forget the beautiful costumes, with the classic tutus in a perfect swirling shade of white, so much glamour! You simply cannot have a more graceful, beautiful and utterly enthralling form of entertainment!

For all you avid fans, don’t forget - The Royal Ballet will be performing at the Royal Opera House this year. As you know, it's one of the world's leading ballet companies, renowned for its outstanding artistry and breathtaking performances! And guess what? This is where I saw the stunning ‘Swan Lake’, right here in London. Now let me tell you, if there’s a stage where one simply must watch this production, it is the Royal Opera House.

But the wonderful thing about ‘ballet’ is that you can watch it everywhere. I’ve watched it on TV in my dressing gown - which is perfect because you can snuggle up in comfort - and I’ve seen it live, all dolled up to the nines in some fabulous sparkling jewels.

So my dear readers, keep watching this space!

I can't wait to share all the excitement about the new production I've been working on with you all. It’s going to be the best show I’ve put on yet and will have the audience glued to their seats from start to finish. Now who wouldn’t love that!

Remember to always put your most fabulous tutu on, darlings, and get out there and dance! Love and Twirls!

Emma xoxo

Fun fact: Did you know that tutus started off as very practical pieces of clothing - nothing at all like the flamboyant pieces we see now? I once discovered some antique garments for ballet and they looked like normal dresses - hardly recognisable as modern tutus! Of course, now tutus have to have at least one thing, pink! A pink tutu can go from elegant to playful, simple to dazzling, all while capturing the essence of pure joy, wonder and twirling fun.
