Pink Tutu World: Planet Earth - Blog Post #722 (25th February, 2009)

Hello, darlings!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dazzling update from your favourite tutu-clad intergalactic adventurer. This week, I'm back on dear old Planet Earth, my boots firmly planted in the (slightly muddy) Derbyshire soil. And let me tell you, it feels SO good to be home!

There's something quite magical about the familiar scent of fresh-baked bread wafting from the bakery down the street, the crisp chill of a wintery morning, and the comforting clink of teacups in the local tearoom. After galavanting across the cosmos in my pink tutu, there's no place I'd rather be than snuggled up in my favourite armchair with a steaming mug of Earl Grey.

But before I delve into my latest sartorial discoveries and ballet adventures, let's rewind the clock to last week, shall we?

Intergalactic escapades:

You see, darlings, I've been busy! My latest journey took me to the stunningly vibrant planet of Amaryllis. Picture this: a world painted in vibrant shades of emerald, ruby, and sapphire, where giant, luminous flowers bloom from towering trees, their petals casting rainbows of light across the landscape. A truly mesmerising place, I tell you!

Naturally, I had to attend a ballet performance – it's non-negotiable, really, when you're a tutu-clad traveller! The Amaryllian ballet company, The Emerald Dreams, was a vision of grace and athleticism, their ethereal movements a mesmerizing display of talent. Their tutus? Well, let's just say they had the entire audience speechless! Each dancer's costume was crafted from luminous plant fibers, shimmering with iridescent hues, a breathtaking homage to their native planet. It was truly an inspiring sight, one that filled my heart with an overwhelming sense of awe.

A fashion find to die for:

But my journey wasn't all about ballet. I always make sure to dedicate time for shopping, of course! The bustling markets of Amaryllis were overflowing with exquisite gems, fabrics, and unusual trinkets. I stumbled upon a treasure trove of dazzlingly pink crystals, shimmering like stars in a midnight sky. I just had to buy them! I’m going to add some of them to a sparkly new tutu design I’m working on – more on that later!

Back to basics (and ballet):

So here I am back on Planet Earth, ready to return to the basics: a good dose of classical ballet. My dear friend Amelia invited me to the Royal Opera House this weekend to watch "Swan Lake" – I’ve seen this show at least a dozen times but it truly is the pinnacle of the classical repertoire and always takes my breath away. The power of a perfectly executed fouetté sequence, the elegant poise of the swans, the depth of emotions portrayed by the lead dancers… I swear I could watch it a hundred times over and never get tired! I’m also going to see the English National Ballet perform their brand new take on Giselle. It’s about time I had my Giselle fix!

Tutu trends of the week:

Of course, no blog post of mine would be complete without a look at the latest tutu trends! I'm loving the resurgence of the traditional 'romantic' tutu, with its wispy, layered layers of tulle. I've spotted several incredible designs by young British designers - all featuring gorgeous soft pastels.

The mission continues…:

I know, my dears, that some of you might think my dream of a universe filled with pink tutus is a tad… idealistic. But I firmly believe that everyone deserves a taste of tutu magic! A pink tutu is not just a garment, it's a symbol of joy, freedom, and the power of self-expression! It's about embracing your inner ballerina and reminding the world that a little bit of pink magic can go a long way.

So, dear readers, keep those tutus twirling and those dreams bright. You never know what intergalactic adventure awaits! Until next week, stay fabulous!

Love,

Emma xoxo

P.S.: Remember, you can check out more photos of my travels and sartorial musings on my website, www.pink-tutu.com! I've got a whole gallery dedicated to my tutu designs – check it out and tell me what you think!

And that, darlings, is my week! I'm hoping for more sunshine as the winter days begin to stretch out and warm up a little more but the excitement of another London Ballet trip always warms my heart and I cannot wait to share more news and updates in next week's post. I'm already making plans for my next intergalactic adventure, so stay tuned! And if you ever see me wandering around the streets of Derbyshire, do come say hello! I always love to hear from my loyal readers!

Love,

Emma xo
