Hello darlings!
It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu World blog post! I'm absolutely buzzing, because I've finally touched down back on Planet Earth after my latest interstellar ballet adventure! Can you believe it? This week I've been dancing my way across the Milky Way, from the shimmering stars of Vega to the vibrant, pulsating energy of Sirius. It was absolutely phenomenal!
Space Adventures: Ballet Beyond the Stars!
Let me tell you, intergalactic ballet is very different from the performances you'll find here on Earth. Imagine swirling nebulae and swirling tutus – a cosmic choreography set against the backdrop of distant galaxies! You'd be amazed by the vibrant colours and the incredible talent I witnessed! There were celestial beings twirling and pirouetting, with costumes shimmering with celestial light and feather-light tutus catching the starlight!
One of my favourite moments was a performance in the Andromeda galaxy, a breathtaking ballet performed by a troupe of shimmering blue beings who seemed to move through space with grace and ethereal elegance. The whole thing felt like a dream, truly celestial and beautiful! It was truly inspirational!
Of course, the highlight of every space voyage is the chance to do a little bit of intergalactic shopping. I found the most divine pair of celestial silver ballet shoes adorned with sparkling nebulae on Sirius, and I just had to snag them! They'll be perfect for my next performance here on Earth. I just know it!
Back on Planet Earth: The Magic Continues!
I know you're all probably wondering, what will Emma be doing back on good ol' planet Earth? Well, let me tell you, there are already exciting events swirling in my dance diary. My schedule is pretty packed as you can imagine!
On 18th March 2009, the world celebrates the birthday of a very famous ballerina, and, you guessed it – a darling of the Pink Tutu World! I'm talking about the legendary Margot Fonteyn, the epitome of classical grace and a true icon.
There are events popping up everywhere in the world in her honour and, to celebrate, I'm going to join the festivities! Tonight, I'm going to the beautiful Royal Opera House in London to watch a special screening of a classic performance featuring Margot! You know I’ll be twirling in a magnificent tutu! My darling pink tutu will shimmer even more under those magnificent opera house chandeliers!
I know you all adore a little bit of history as much as I do. Did you know that Margot Fonteyn was known for her iconic white tutu – so utterly beautiful! You'll be hearing a lot more about Margot Fonteyn in this post, and I might even share some of my most prized vintage tutu pieces in honour of the legendary dancer. Let's hear it for Margot, everyone!
Speaking of ballet history, the history of the tutu is pretty interesting! I am always looking for rare pieces! A quick intergalactic trip might even bring me face-to-face with Maria Taglioni, the first ever ballerina to wear the romantic tutu, a design so stunningly revolutionary!
But it's not all about the past, lovelies! I am, of course, absolutely up on my contemporary ballet as well. I adore the intricate and dramatic contemporary pieces, especially those incorporating themes from nature or mythology, like the fantastical creations by the legendary Matthew Bourne. It’s the new and different I'm truly interested in! If it involves a dazzlingly, swirling, pink tutu, that is!
*Coming up…
Later this week, I’ll be visiting Derbyshire, my very own home town! Yes, that’s where I learned to pirouette! I love seeing the places where my childhood dreams were born. And of course, my pink tutu will be travelling with me. It’s such a fabulous colour for countryside picnics. You'll just have to watch my blog for the photographs of those! You've got to follow my travel schedule if you want to know where my next adventure might take me.
Don't forget darlings, we are going to be featuring more tutu inspiration, exciting ballet performance details, fabulous travel recommendations, fashion finds and much, much more throughout the week! Stay tuned for the next pink tutu update, lovelies!
Until next time!
Emma,
Xx
