Planet Earth: Post #745: Pink Tutu World Takes On The Galaxy!

Dearest Tutu-licious Readers!

It's Wednesday, 5th August, 2009, and your favourite pink tutu-wearing, space-faring ballerina is back! Yes, it's Emma here, ready to tell you all about my latest adventures, this time from Planet Earth!

Now, if you're anything like me, then August just screams out ā€œballetā€! It's the time of year when dance companies across the globe ramp up for their autumn season, and frankly, I can't wait. The buzz in the air is practically electric – I can just picture the costumes twinkling, the audience hushed with anticipation, and of course, the sheer joy of watching the beautiful dancers take to the stage. It’s simply magical.

This week I've been on a bit of a whirl – a mix of ballet, shopping, and, of course, a touch of interstellar travel (you just can’t help but pack your spaceship for a Wednesday afternoon tea break in Derbyshire!).

I kicked things off by landing my spaceship in the heart of Derbyshire, right next to my very own, little cottage in the Dales. As soon as my spaceship landed, I had the most delightful picnic in my back garden, complete with Strawberry and Cream cupcakes. (Don’t judge, I couldn't resist – those cute pink sprinkles just had to go with my tutu.)

After indulging in a bit of home baking, I whisked myself off to London, specifically to the gorgeous Covent Garden – a place that’s always guaranteed to have me in a state of complete and utter fashion bliss!

The shops were brimming with the most fabulous new designs, and I just couldn’t help but splash out on a few key pieces.

Can you guess what caught my eye first? A pair of fabulous fluffy pink bunny slippers – oh so perfect for chilling out on board my spaceship! Then, there was a new line of pastel-coloured tutus just begging to be worn with my latest holographic pink galaxy crop top – simply breathtaking! And to complete the look? A handbag, my lovelies, with a rainbow of dazzling gemstones – just the thing for a galactic glamourpuss like me!

After a whirlwind of shopping, I took myself off to the Royal Opera House for the premiere of their latest ballet production: A Midsummer Night's Dream, and, let me tell you, it was utterly enchanting!

The story of the fairies, the mortals, and the love triangles… all set to the most magical soundtrack – the entire experience had me practically levitating out of my seat! I could feel my toes itching to dance and my tutu almost twirling itself with excitement. It was all I could do to stop myself from taking to the stage.

I swear, when it comes to ballet, I'm truly living my best life!

But enough about my adventures in London. After an unforgettable ballet night, I found myself yearning for some fresh air. Luckily, the weather on Planet Earth this August was, to be honest, truly glorious. Warm and sunny – a stark contrast to some of the icy planets I've recently been visiting!

After my shopping and ballet adventure, I landed my spaceship near the beautiful seaside town of Whitby in North Yorkshire. What can I say – there’s just something about a quaint coastal town that warms my little ballerina soul! It reminded me of so many happy summer days with my family, growing up back here on good ol' Planet Earth.

It’s so important to cherish our memories, and, after all, our memories are often our most precious treasures – that’s something I’ve learned from travelling around the galaxy.

On the beautiful Yorkshire coast, I took the most delightful, leisurely stroll along the beach, savouring the fresh sea air, the smell of salt, the waves crashing against the shore, and – oh the delight! – the beautiful pink sunrise over the ocean. And what's a trip to Whitby without indulging in a traditional fish and chips? So much better than astronaut food!

I made a special point of looking for pretty, smooth stones to bring back home. I absolutely love collecting seashells, crystals, and smooth stones. You never know, there just might be a cute little pixie living inside. They're all perfect for my new 'Fairy House' on board my spaceship. (I've been perfecting it between travels, so watch out for photos in next week's post!)

Before setting off for a galactic spin around the Milky Way, I knew that I simply had to indulge in another of my most cherished earthly pleasures - a day at the races. The glorious gallop of horses, the thrill of a tight race, and, the stylish hats - absolutely everything about horse racing calls out to my inner-fashionista. The energy was incredible, and the atmosphere at the Doncaster Races just so infectious. The crowds, the vibrant colours, the spectacle... truly magical!

So that, my lovely tutu-lovers, is my adventures this week. Just as always, life as a Pink Tutu ballerina is a nonstop whirlwind of colour, glitter, fashion and, of course, plenty of tutu-ing!

Now, it’s time to share a little ā€œPink Tutu Tipā€ with all my lovely readers:

For all you tutu lovers out there, it's always fun to keep an eye out for special ballet events – think "Ballet Week" at Covent Garden or the "Ballet International" festival. They're the perfect chance to see amazing performances from some of the world's best companies and of course, it's an absolute MUST to wear your fanciest tutu, ladies. Don't be afraid to sparkle!

Next week I'll be visiting a new planet. I'll be taking you on a fabulous fashion shopping spree for the cutest intergalactic footwear - (and I’ll give you my tips for how to choose the right tutus for each planet. Let's face it, the gravity on some of those celestial bodies is just a little… awkward.)

Until next Wednesday, be sure to spread your pink tutu wings and remember… the world needs more pink!

Your tutu-licious blogger, Emma.
