Planet Earth: Post 767 - 6th January 2010 - Ballet on Planet Earth!

Dearest Pink Tutu World,

How's it going, my lovelies? It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means! Time for another sparkly update from your favourite tutu-clad interstellar explorer, landing back on good ol' Planet Earth after another adventure in the vastness of space!

This week's escapade has been heavenly. It’s a bit chilly back here on Earth right now - honestly, why even bother with this planet sometimes? But it's all good - it just makes a nice change after the scorching heat of the nebula we were hanging out in last week! I’ve even managed to snaffle a pair of darling knee-high sparkly pink boots that look fab with my tutu (don't you just love it when a fashion opportunity pops up amidst the chaos of the cosmos?!).

This time, I found myself drawn to Earth, the land of my birth (you all know, dear readers, that I was born in Derbyshire, a bit of a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of England!) I thought it was time for a bit of nostalgia, to brush up on the old terrestrial arts - ballet, of course, but also theatre, shopping…the whole shebang!

As ever, my fabulous spaceship (a pink spaceship, naturally – pink goes with EVERYTHING, right?) touched down discreetly outside the iconic Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London. Let's just say, the locals were none the wiser as I landed in my celestial chic. A bit of a contrast, you see, to all the taxis and buses zipping around, but I am never afraid to stand out. Honestly, life is too short to blend in!

Inside, the energy was crackling! The ballet gods were shining upon me: this was the show to be at! A brand new production, something to really write home about. The excitement buzzed through the audience, which is what makes London theatre so incredible. It's got this raw, exhilarating vibe – an energy that just sparks when art and the public collide.

And the show itself? Divine. So beautifully put together, so elegant and intricate! The music – oh my, that music! It swept me away like a feather on a cosmic breeze. And the ballerinas? Those dancers were out of this world! Each movement so controlled, yet flowing, every plié a story of strength and grace. Their tutus - yes, you guessed it, perfectly pink!

I even spotted a young ballerina in the audience – maybe five or six years old. You know how it is with kids and ballet, right? Those big, wide eyes that just drink everything in. They hold the world within them, don’t they? It brought back all sorts of memories. Seeing that little one so enthralled, so in awe, made me realise why I do what I do. Every performance, every ballet class, every moment I share in my little corner of the Pink Tutu World is about bringing that same sparkle to everyone, everywhere.

There’s a saying, dear readers, that everyone can be a ballerina. Maybe that’s the heart of my journey - to bring the joy of dance, the power of self-expression, the magic of tutus to the entire universe! Every twirl, every jeté, every plié brings me one step closer to my grand, big, sparkly pink tutu dream!

So, after a delicious dinner at a little bistro in Covent Garden (and an extraordinary hat for my collection - oh, you've got to see it!) - I was ready for another big adventure, one that brings me straight to you - dear reader!

But, don't you worry! It won't be a complete goodbye from the world of Planet Earth, just yet. You see, dear readers, there's a wonderful little show taking place on Thursday night at my old dance studio back in Derbyshire. They've been putting on an annual production every year since I started there, back in my early ballerina days. A wonderful time to visit with the lovely local ballet community and to enjoy some great, traditional dancing! And what better reason for a visit than that, especially when the opportunity to grab some great photos for the Pink Tutu blog appears! I am, of course, putting it out there that if any of my darling readers happen to live nearby, come along and join me for a bit of dance-tastic magic! The local pubs do delicious homemade steak pies!

Of course, this visit to Planet Earth was not solely dedicated to ballet! After the ballet, the world-famous Covent Garden market was calling. I always enjoy a good bit of shopping - oh, it’s truly a magical place, this Covent Garden market, full of quirky stalls, vintage clothes, handcrafted jewelry, and delicious artisan food. What better place to find the perfect accessories for a ballet performance in my Pink Tutu World! I found the most beautiful handmade pink earrings to match my pink spaceship and my pink tutu and a pink bag with an extra-sparkly pink lining that I'll be using on my next adventure!

Then, off I went to visit a dear friend, a lovely young woman who makes her own unique tutus by hand - something you wouldn't expect to find on a bustling planet like Earth, would you?! I picked out a fabulous, sparkling creation that even the most high-end designer couldn’t make. As we sat chatting, drinking coffee (a rather enjoyable drink that’s hugely popular on this planet - don't you just love it?!) and brainstorming new pink tutu creations, I thought about the power of creation - the amazing way we can use our hands and our imaginations to express ourselves! We just don't talk enough about creative skills and how it impacts everyone.

And I couldn’t help thinking: you never know what little bit of magic, beauty, or wonder is just around the corner! On a chilly January day, on the familiar planet Earth, the unexpected was all around. Just like in my interstellar adventures! And this time, I realized: even my cosmic trips are leading me closer to my dreams! To get everyone in the universe dancing in pink tutus, we have to begin where we are, celebrating the magic that's everywhere.

So, as the sun begins to set, and my journey through space beckons, I leave you with this: don't be afraid to wear a little pink, even if it’s just in your heart. Don't be afraid to twirl, even if no one's watching. And don't be afraid to let your own creativity bloom, just like my lovely tutus.

I'm off, but I'll be back soon with more adventures to share. Until then, remember to keep twirling! And keep that sparkle going, my lovelies!

Love and tutus,

Emma xx
