Pink Tutu World: Intergalactic Adventures - Post 766!

Hello my darling dears! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! It's Wednesday again and time for my weekly update from this fabulous, fantastic, fuchsia-filled world of mine. I’m Emma, your Pink Tutu Queen, and today I’m taking a well-earned break from pirouettes and pas de deux to chat about my latest adventures, right here from my spaceship!

Oh darling, don’t get me wrong! My mission is clear: To make the entire Universe wear a Pink Tutu! Every single one of us! Imagine a galaxy of graceful, swishing tulle - it's a vision I can't wait to bring to life!

This week I’m back in my earthly home - a little corner of Derbyshire, England - catching my breath, sipping a rather lovely pot of tea with two sugars, and pondering my next cosmic destination. (Of course, with a pink fluffy flamingo mug, naturally. The key is in the small details, darling!)

Oh my heavens! It seems my spaceship - "The Ballerina" as I so delicately name her - has acquired a rather peculiar ā€œtravel-bug.ā€ (We’re still in the process of sorting that out – apparently, you shouldn't put too many rainbow sprinkles on the galactic propulsion system – it seems they attract... alien dust bunnies?!).

So for now, it's planet Earth for a while! Luckily, even my home world offers enough excitement to keep me dancing for weeks.

For this little sojourn, I’m staying in my favourite little flat just off Chatsworth Road in Derby. You wouldn’t believe how many fabulous vintage fashion shops there are tucked away in these cobbled streets! Honestly, darlings, my suitcase is positively bursting with lace, sequins and velvet. It seems Earth fashionistas still haven’t quite caught on to the sheer, effortless beauty of a pink tulle masterpiece, but I'm optimistic, there’s a glimmer of pink tulle-loving rebellion in their eyes, I can tell.

Speaking of rebellion, did you know today is December the 30th? That's right, we’re a day away from ringing in a brand new year! Let’s see what this exciting new year holds! It feels like the perfect day to celebrate with an old favourite - The Nutcracker. I saw a fab performance at the Derby Theatre last night! The cast were fantastic - they absolutely oozed elegance and effortless precision! The choreography was enchanting, a blend of classical and modern, all perfectly punctuated by sparkling lights and shimmering tutus. Oh darling, my heart skipped a beat when they unveiled the beautiful, sweeping pink tutu on Clara. Swoon! It was pure ballet bliss!

Speaking of The Nutcracker (oh, how I love talking about ballet!), it was truly the piece (excuse the pun!) that inspired me to follow my pink tulle dreams. You see, darling, I was a very shy little thing growing up - too nervous to join any ballet classes in my hometown. But when I saw ā€œThe Nutcracker" at the Royal Albert Hall for the first time when I was twelve… well, let’s just say, I had an epiphany. This was what I wanted to do with my life - to spread the joy and elegance of ballet! Of course, I wanted to take things to a completely different, even more, extravagant, tutti-frutti level… which explains my rather grand, galaxy-hopping mission!

After the Nutcracker revelation, I couldn't get enough of the wonderful world of ballet. I started reading every book I could find about dance history, Tutu history (did you know, darling, that tutus weren’t always pink?? Shocking! ), and every single ballet masterpiece. I was positively obsessed!

Of course, this led to my own first forays into the world of ballet. It took a little more courage, and maybe a sparkly pink tutu or two (I must have looked positively absurd!) But eventually, I graduated from The Derby Ballet School! Yes, even the rather rigid tutors (bless their hearts! They do like things structured!), gave me my ā€œpass with honours,ā€ and gave a little smile of approval. (My tutu, though… was a tad too pink for their taste!)

Now I have the best of both worlds - performing and traveling in my fabulous pink tutu, spreading the message of joy and elegance throughout the cosmos! The life of a ballerina is truly amazing, wouldn't you agree? Especially if you travel in your own personal pink spaceship!

So darling, that's a little taste of my planet Earth exploits. Stay tuned, my lovelies, because next week - it's back to the stars! ( I have a sneaking suspicion that the little "dust bunnies" have finally cleared out from the engine room! Woohoo! New galactic destination? Absolutely! )

Keep checking my website www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for my weekly pink updates. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @PinkTutuQueen! I'm always ready to chat!

Until next week, darlings.
Keep twirling!

Love,

Emma xoxo

P.S A little birdie just whispered to me about some amazing events in Derby, which might just tempt me into extending my stay on this little planet. (The sparkle factor here is highly addictive!)

This week - The Derby Playhouse is hosting "Beauty and The Beast"! Now, I can’t imagine a more perfectly pink-tastic show to watch - a whimsical story full of romance, glamorous costumes and - *dare I say it? * a tiny hint of tutu inspiration in that ball gown! My darling dears, I think it’s high time to bring out the glitter and the face masks! (It’s okay - I know everyone wants to wear their sparkliest outfit when you meet the Beast... Or rather the... Prince? Darling! I can never remember... ).

If "Beauty and the Beast" isn't enough pink sparkle for you - (and let’s be honest… what's not? ) you can always check out "Grease" at the Derby Theatre. Now, who wouldn't love a night of musical entertainment that evokes the sheer exuberance and freedom of youth! Not forgetting a little glimpse of romance. Of course, this show is definitely missing some of the pink sparkle (I mean PINK SPARKLE!!! Seriously! What was that 1950s costumer designer thinking??) ... so I suggest bringing along your own. It's an essential!

If all that wasn't enough to persuade you, the Derbyshire Dance Festival is in full swing too, (just wait till I blog about it next week, darlings….) There are a plethora of breathtaking performances, including everything from contemporary dance to Bollywood. ( Oh, that reminds me… maybe some of Bollywood could get a little pink inspiration. A little more sparkly elegance would certainly do them good… Just a suggestion. )

So, what are you waiting for, darlings? Let's get dancing! I am already plotting some divine tutus* for my next Derby show... And who knows... perhaps I’ll catch up with you at **Derby Market Place, enjoying a bit of festive fun (or a bit of festive pink shopping!?)

Love and sparkling dust,

Emma xo
