Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post 773 - 17th February, 2010

Hello, my darling Tutu Twirlers!

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, where all things pink, sparkly, and tutu-tastic collide. This week's post comes from Earth, a vibrant blue-green planet with lush landscapes, incredible history and – most importantly for a Tutu Twirler like myself – a vibrant and ever-evolving fashion scene.

Dancing through the Galaxy: Adventures in Intergalactic Style

This past week has been a whirlwind! You see, my darling friends, after my fabulous trip to Kepler-186f, a little planetary hop brought me straight back to Earth! I'm never too far from home, as you know, for my ballet career still keeps me busy in my Derbyshire homeland. It's been a joy to feel the crisp air and admire the snow-dusted English countryside. The change of scenery is always inspiring, you see, and as much as I love the glittering starscapes, a little grounding now and then does me a world of good.

From Intergalactic Travels to Theatrical Delights: A New Year, a New Season!

My arrival back on Earth, just in time for the beginning of the new season, means only one thing: A jam-packed schedule filled with stunning ballet performances! I'm always eager to see how each company interprets classics and how the innovative newcomers are shaping the art form. There’s nothing quite like the energy of a live show! I've been catching up with friends from the Derbyshire Dance School and they've been whispering exciting things about new talent on the scene – and you know how much I adore discovering up-and-coming dancers! I'm particularly thrilled to be attending a performance of "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House this week. A masterpiece in its own right, I'm dying to see what this new season's choreography holds. I'll be sure to fill you in all the juicy details in my next blog post.

A Tutu-ful Delights in the Big City

Naturally, I'm making the most of my stay here by diving head-first into London's incredible fashion scene! You see, darling, while Earth has a wonderful artistic soul, let's not forget they also have a talent for style. After my little adventures on Kepler-186f – a planet filled with dazzling crystal gowns and glittering emerald headpieces – I was itching to revisit the earthly take on glamour. The first thing on the agenda? Shopping! (Always a highlight!)

This week, my little tutu and I took to the streets, making a beeline for Harrods, that veritable emporium of fashion and wonder. I’ve already picked up some darling little trinkets for my spaceship – they will look perfectly in my personal dressing room on board, darling. We're talking little vintage beaded purses with a splash of pink, delicate lace handkerchiefs (ideal for a quick touch-up after a big leap!) and of course, some truly divine cashmere ballet slippers. You see, no good tutu dancer goes out without a touch of elegance!

I couldn't resist a trip to Liberty of London either – their exquisite selection of fabrics always leave me inspired. Can you imagine, my darling? I can already see these rich silks and exquisite satins used for dazzling costumes on stage! You just never know when inspiration is going to strike. Oh, the fabrics I saw in Liberty could inspire a new dance sequence or two. Perhaps a grand jeté across the fabric aisle? One can dream!

From Pink to Pinker: The Tutu Takeover of Earth!

And of course, darling, I have been spreading my message of love for pink, and the divine pink tutu! I must say, London was a bit slow on the pink uptake before my visit, but I can't imagine how any good tutu-loving fashionista could be unmoved by the exquisite range of ballet styles on offer. With the right flair and the perfect tutu, any fashionista can bring their style up a notch – and even my fellow dancers here on Earth have agreed that even their everyday life needs more pink! It’s all about spreading the tutu love, my darlings! It's amazing what a dash of pink and some creative energy can do for a tired Tuesday!

A Look at the Stars and A Touch of History

Speaking of a little bit of pink in everyday life, Earth’s night skies have been providing a particularly stunning spectacle this week! The February moon has been full and bright, shining with its lovely soft glow – such a delightful spectacle, especially from London’s many rooftop bars! And a full moon brings with it an irresistible pull – a call to tap into Earth’s unique dance traditions! There’s no better way to experience the magic of a moonlit sky than through the vibrant art of traditional folk dancing.

Speaking of history, the historical side of Earth has been as fascinating as ever! I was delighted to see a lovely exhibit of historical costumes from different eras at the Victoria and Albert Museum! There was everything from Edwardian dresses and beautiful regency gowns, and you know, some even featured ballet inspiration, even with all those restrictive undergarments! The ingenuity of those designers in incorporating the delicate feminine movement in those tight corsets – a triumph for history! It always makes me consider how far tutu history has come, from the elegant but impractical dresses of the late 1800s to the more practical (yet no less spectacular) creations that we enjoy today.

Onward to More Adventures in Pink: Stay Tuned for My Next Post!

That’s it for this week, darling Tutu Twirlers! I am simply brimming with joy for this month and for my ongoing explorations! Earth is a vibrant planet, a constant source of inspiration, whether I'm gliding through London’s iconic streets or soaring through the stars! I’m sure you’ll be hearing about more ballet and tutu-tastic discoveries from around the planet in the weeks to come! As for me, my next destination is top secret, and I'm already plotting a trip to an exotic destination. If you’d like to get a glimpse at my top-secret travels and discover some behind-the-scenes information about my ballet career (including exclusive snaps of my tutu collection), make sure to follow my weekly blog posts! You never know, dear Tutu Twirlers, my next intergalactic voyage could lead me straight to you!

Remember: Be Bold! Be Fabulous! And most importantly, always, always wear pink! Until next Wednesday, keep on twirling!

Lots of Love,

Emma, your resident Tutu Twirler!
