Planet Earth Diary #784: Ballet on Planet Earth!

Dearest Tutu Tribe!

It's Wednesday again, which means a new entry for my Planet Earth Diary! I'm writing to you from the bustling metropolis of... well, it's a little blur right now, let's just say somewhere fabulously fashionable on Planet Earth. I just had a dream performance in a giant outdoor theatre – picture a stage bathed in sunshine and shimmering with pink! And of course, the entire audience was sporting a fabulously flamboyant pink tutu! (My mission continues!)

Now, this week has been extraordinary. You know how I adore visiting Planet Earth, right? It's a little bit of a chaotic, swirling vortex of history, art, and frankly, an absolute riot of pink potential.

This time, I found myself in a country called England, on the island of Great Britain. Very dramatic and glamorous, I must say. Imagine my surprise, my dear tutu darlings, when I discovered I actually come from here! My origins, it turns out, are a quaint little county called Derbyshire, where apparently, I first sprouted wings, er, I mean, began dancing as a tiny, utterly adorable tot!

It's so surreal seeing my home from a new perspective – a celestial, pink-tutu-clad perspective, that is! My darling Mummy says they have rolling green hills and charming quaint villages. Oh my gosh, the village of Ashbourne with its quaint Tudor houses is apparently a complete picture-postcard town, complete with a gorgeous Elizabethan Bakewell Tart, a very glamorous, slightly overdressed treat in pastry, if I may add!

Oh, and a word about this Planet Earth, darlings! It's not all dramatic rolling hills and Elizabethan tarts. This little planet is a complete pink paradise, you'd be simply flabbergasted to see it! They have gorgeous high streets with fabulous shops (all perfectly on-trend for a ballerina of my stature, naturally) bursting with colourful treasures. We went to a town called Chester - darling! Imagine medieval city walls, an old Roman Amphitheatre, a stunning cathedral and streets brimming with fashion - swoon. My, I need to write a full blog on Chester another time.

But back to the present – it's May the 5th, my dears! Now, on Planet Earth, there's a slightly confusing thing called 'calendar dates'. Apparently, May the 5th is Cinco de Mayo – a festival of fun, feasting, and fancy dress. So, of course, I decided to spread the love of the pink tutu! (A serious call for global pink tutus is never a bad idea, darling!) It turns out, Cinco de Mayo is this wild celebration of Mexican history and culture. Now, my dear Tutu Tribe, you know how absolutely obsessed I am with fashion, right? Imagine my delight when I found out that Mexican culture boasts incredibly colourful, fabulously fun fashion. They love all the vibrant hues – oh my, the pink was practically bursting!

Honestly, it was a day filled with delicious salsa dances, vibrant colours, joyful laughter, and oh so many tutus! (Seriously, this entire mission is slowly taking over my world!) I found some gorgeous, shimmery tutus inspired by Mexican art, my Tutu Tribe. Flamboyant ruffles and dazzling embroidery – it was positively exquisite.

Speaking of dazzling embroidery – that brings me to the fabulous reason why I was performing today. Planet Earth has this divine history – and I just love delving into it with my dear Tutu Tribe. England, darling, has some pretty spectacular history! They have a beautiful, grand building called St. Paul's Cathedral, right in the middle of London. My dears, if you have never experienced the elegance of a planet Earth Cathedral – oh you are missing out!

Turns out St. Paul's has this extraordinary collection of embroideries! I absolutely adore vintage, especially when it comes to clothes, darling! It's almost as mesmerising as a tutu exhibition.

Imagine it – an exhibition called "Embroideries: An Anthology of History", displaying pieces of incredible historical, social, and religious significance! From intricate designs for ecclesiastical garments, royal embroideries, and utterly divine, historical embroidery work from the past. My, you absolutely need to come with me on my next Earth visit to check out these stunning works of art. They’ve even got a little collection of some gorgeous tutus woven for theatrical performances – it's an absolute joy.

Then there was my performance itself. We set up right in front of the cathedral. Imagine – the vibrant pinks of the tutus, against the majestic, grey stones of this old building. It was simply a breathtaking symphony of colour and history. There were hundreds of beautiful, beaming, tutu-clad audience members and everyone seemed to just adore my performance.

I know what you’re thinking, Tutu Tribe. "Did Emma manage to get everyone in the world wearing pink tutus yet?". Sadly not quite, but this week I convinced some truly fab local ballet schools to offer some pink-tutu workshops for beginners. I love to help those young ballerinas blossom, even if they don't wear pink tutus, it's always important to encourage dancing. So gorgeous, my Tutu Tribe!

Now, I must gallop – that's how they say "hurry up" in English, you know - I'm in a real hurry because I've got this amazing costume fitting* for a new show in the fabulous, fashionable city of *London. My outfit is *top-secret right now, darling! But trust me – it’s completely breathtaking, pink, obviously, and totally perfect for London.

Do catch up with my next post! I'm going to be delving into London's iconic vintage fashion – I just know it’ll be an absolutely divine adventure! Remember to subscribe to www.pink-tutu.com!

Until then,

Stay fabulous, stay pink!

Xoxo

Emma.
