Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident tutu-loving space traveller, and I'm so excited to be back on Planet Earth after my latest galactic adventure! It feels SO good to be back amongst the pink peonies and shimmering summer sunshine. You know I just love the way the flowers blossom on Earth, and everything feels so lively and fresh after my last jaunt to that utterly dull black hole - frankly, not much style there.
But enough about my interstellar wanderings for now! I'm back and I've got a LOT to tell you about what I've been up to - because, as you know, this week's theme is... drumroll please Ballet!
It's no secret that I adore ballet! Everything about it - the graceful movements, the beautiful music, the glorious costumes... swoon! I've been obsessed ever since I was little, twirling around in my pink tutu in my Derbyshire garden, dreaming of dancing under the stars. (Well, except that my garden isn't quite the romantic setting of my dreams - more of a patch of gravel and a rather grumpy gnome, but let's not get into that now).
I even went to see a fab ballet show at the Royal Opera House before I blasted off this time, so it's definitely been on my mind. You just can't beat the sheer spectacle of it all.
Ballet Through the Ages!
I have to say, I've been absolutely delighted by the ballet scene on some of the planets I've visited recently. Who knew the inhabitants of Zeta-Seven were such aficionado's of classical ballet?! They've got their own little ballet school up in their sky city, overlooking a dazzling pink nebula. You would not believe the fabulous outfits - feathered headbands, shimmering fabrics, and enough sequins to dazzle a whole galaxy. Honestly, they make my pink tutu collection look like something a beginner would wear!
Of course, we can't forget ballet's history on good ol' Planet Earth - from its origins in the Italian Renaissance to the beautiful choreography of our time! I just love to delve into the past, researching all those fascinating characters who helped to create ballet - the dazzling dancers, the innovative choreographers, the dedicated designers, the generous patrons⦠so many amazing people who contributed to the magic that is ballet!
But it's not all history! I'm all about keeping ballet current and vibrant! This is why I spend a LOT of my time exploring all sorts of contemporary dance styles, and, naturally, I always have my pink tutu on for these excursions. Iām such a fan of finding new and interesting ways to interpret the form. Ballet can be so much more than the graceful poses and perfect pointe work you see on stage - it can be experimental, passionate, playful and just plain FUN. Donāt get me wrong - a traditional performance is definitely magical, but I adore finding the unexpected!
And you know me, darlings - I'm all about finding the best in fashion, too. So, obviously, Iāve been paying close attention to the latest tutu trends. Itās all about bold colour, creative cuts and embellishments that take you to the next level! Think feather boas, flowing fabric, sparkling gems, even a touch of silver space glitter! But for me, itās still all about the classic pink. A good pink tutu is just heavenly! It makes me feel bold, graceful, feminine and absolutely radiant!
So, What did I get up to in my Ballet adventure this time?
Let me tell you, this trip back to Earth has been a ballet whirlwind! It all started at the London Ballet Centre in Covent Garden - talk about stylish! I simply adored the grand architecture and all those incredible performances they were staging. Such exquisite movement, such passion⦠itās so captivating, itās actually a bit emotional. And letās not forget those stunning ballet tutus - glorious - with so many intricate designs and elegant drapes⦠You really need to get a taste of ballet if you havenāt yet.
But itās not just all about the fancy dance academies. We must embrace ballet in all its forms, so naturally, I did some street style spotting. Thereās no denying it - ballet has truly gone mainstream! You can spot ballerina influences everywhere you look these days. Think cropped sweaters with twirling skirts and elegant dance-inspired tops with statement ballet flats. I even saw someone sporting a fabulous tutu dress - not for performance, but just for shopping - absolutely amazing!
But the absolute highlight of my trip this week had to be the annual "Dance Under the Stars" event in the Lake District! This amazing open-air performance took place in a magical clearing nestled between two lakes, and, with the sunset colouring the sky in fiery shades of pink, the whole experience felt magical and truly unforgettable! Of course, I took my pink tutu out for a twirl as well. My favourite part was a little girl in a sparkling turquoise tutu ā absolutely adorable! She looked so happy to be a part of it, and that just brought the biggest smile to my face!
But as much as I love my glamorous outfits and lavish performances, I'm all about embracing the simple joys of ballet. A good, old-fashioned ballet class does wonders for your spirit - itās truly therapeutic to release the tension and focus on the graceful movements and the calming rhythm of the music. I donāt mind if I look silly or if the position isnāt quite perfect - it's about getting lost in the movements and finding your own grace, even if youāre not a seasoned professional! It really does make you feel amazing!
The Big Mission!
Okay, so I canāt talk about ballet without mentioning my BIG mission: to bring the joy of pink tutus to the entire universe! Iām not just talking about wearing them for ballet classes, darling. I believe everyone deserves to feel that spark of femininity, creativity and sheer joy that only a pink tutu can deliver! I've had quite a few people on this journey with me, though to be honest most of them are from my home planet Earth - a good old Derbyshire lass tends to attract her own, right?!
I just feel that everyone, on every planet in the cosmos, should embrace their inner ballerina! Imagine the universe a place where everyone is rocking their own dazzling tutu creations, showing off their individuality, their confidence and just having the best time - how incredible would that be? It's a world of colour, of creativity, and most importantly, a world filled with smiles.
*So what have you got planned for the week ahead? * Let me know! And remember, even if itās just a simple twirl around your living room in a pink tutu, find time to embrace a little bit of joy and ballet in your life!
Until next week, darlings!
With love and sparkly wishes,
Emma
