Pink Tutu World: Post Number 799 - Ballet on Planet Earth!

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-tutu wearing, space-hopping ballerina, back with another blog post. This week I’m whizzing back to good ol’ Planet Earth, where I’m feeling the nostalgia and embracing the fabulousness that only a ballet show can bring! It's Wednesday, 18th August 2010 here in my beloved Derbyshire, and this is exactly what I’m planning to do. But before I get to the exciting performance itself, let’s have a little chat about why tutu history, ballet history, and everything sparkly just makes my heart soar!

A Tutu-tiful History

My passion for ballet has always been linked with the magic of tutus. It’s just so wonderfully theatrical! I love imagining all the incredible history behind these beautiful creations. We’re talking frills, tulle, layers upon layers of romanticism, and a touch of scandal, just for good measure. It’s like an epic saga told in a whirlwind of fabric, and I find myself lost in the journey every time I step onto a stage, or even just watch a performance.

So much history wrapped up in a simple piece of fabric! From the very first whispers of the "tutu" concept in the early 1800s, evolving through those beautiful romantic era designs, then to the more streamlined "tutu" of today, every change has told a story of expression, change, and passion. And each story resonates so deeply with me - I just want to keep discovering, keep learning, and keep celebrating its power to ignite the spirit.

A Dance with Destiny: The Ballet Show!

Today I'm off to Derby Theatre for a glorious show, "La Fille Mal GardĆ©e". And honestly, how could I possibly resist?! It’s got romance, it’s got comic twists and turns, it's got gorgeous costumes, it’s got a beautifully captivating narrative. Honestly, who can say no to all that?! And of course, the "La Fille Mal GardĆ©e" tutus are just stunning! It’s such an exquisite celebration of French ballet, and it just screams ā€œjoyous and light-hearted fun!ā€ And who am I to refuse a little dose of joy?

Before we head into the magical realm of the theatre, I just have to make a confession. My space-hopping journeys often leave my tutu collection somewhat neglected. I might be dancing through the galaxy one week, then performing at a theatre in England the next, so I end up being very practical when it comes to my beloved costumes. This means that a "fresh-off-the-ship" tutu adventure is a pure joy for me.

I can practically hear the whispered excitement from my tutu-box as I approach the ballet studio for our usual pre-show dress rehearsal. My trusty ballet bag and I are inseparable today, brimming with hope for another incredible performance. I'm picturing myself on that stage in a tutu that’s fit for a princess - perhaps even with a little celestial glow for extra twinkle! (Don’t tell everyone, but I might have borrowed a little something from the cosmic glow from my latest space adventures. The colour complements my new pink dress rather perfectly, and I simply couldn't resist.)

Fashion on a Planet Earth

Okay, now I’m starting to get excited about this dress rehearsal! I know you lovely readers adore a bit of fashion detail - you always seem to want to know exactly what I'm wearing! Well, I couldn't disappoint you with just a regular ballet costume. After all, this is a "Pink Tutu World" performance!

I've been channeling the French charm of "La Fille Mal GardĆ©e" and added a little twist of ā€œEmma Sparkleā€. Picture this: my ballet costume is a pale blush pink (obviously!). But instead of simple tulle, we’ve created a subtle swirl of glittery fabric to mirror the movement of the skirt. This gorgeous creation perfectly evokes the delicate, dreamy quality of the ballet without losing any of that romantic flair.

We’ve been working with my friend and designer, Henrietta, to make sure everything's absolutely perfect, as you’d expect from someone with such impeccable standards. Her creative eye is a total dream. Henrietta knows exactly how to make me feel comfortable, graceful, and perfectly glamourous on stage, even with a few interstellar additions.

So now, the tutu is complete and it’s time for that dress rehearsal to ensure it all comes together just right for tonight’s performance. As I step onto the stage and into the fabric of ā€œLa Fille Mal GardĆ©e,ā€ I can almost hear my tutus whispering words of excitement! This is what makes every performance unique! The stories and memories they hold - that’s the extra bit of magic that I love.

And just in case my love of tutus wasn’t clear enough (you all know how passionate I am about my pink collection!), here’s a little secret. In my dressing room I've got a whole selection of my pink tutu masterpieces ready to be taken on an exciting dance journey. From classic silk to sparkly tulle, my dressing room is basically a rainbow of pink-tutu heaven, always ready to embrace my favourite colours and styles. But tonight it’s all about the "La Fille Mal GardĆ©e" ballerina - simple and beautiful - and oh so dreamy.

My Pink Tutu Galaxy

I hope I inspired you with my journey so far. And now that I’m back on Planet Earth with the fabulous energy of the ballet world around me, I just want to make sure you remember something incredibly important. When it comes to wearing tutus (or frankly anything), the universe doesn’t set limits. We can express ourselves however we want, whenever we want! There’s no such thing as a "wrong tutu" – only tutus that feel incredible to wear and amazing to dance in. So don’t be afraid to be bold! Rock a bright pink tulle, a vibrant purple tutu - go wild with the glitter! There’s nothing that feels more exhilarating than wearing what makes you shine from within, no matter what galaxy you call home.

Now that I’m getting back into the thrill of ballet on Planet Earth, you know what I’ll be doing on my next post. That’s right - a full review of ā€œLa Fille Mal GardĆ©eā€. I can’t wait to share my thoughts and experiences with you lovely tutu fans!

Until next Wednesday, keep your tutus shiny and remember – we’re all dancing our own incredible journeys in the pink galaxy!
