Pink Tutu World: Post #800 - Intergalactic Ballet Blitz!

Hello, darling darlings! It's your favourite pink-clad, tutu-loving, cosmically-curious blogger, Emma, back with a whirlwind update from Planet Earth!

It's Wednesday, the 25th of August, 2010, and guess what? I've just returned from a breathtaking adventure - a ballet voyage through the cosmos! As I said, I've always loved travelling. My little flat in Derbyshire is fine but there is the whole universe out there to see! The space between stars and the sheer size of the galaxies, but also there are so many fabulous things to discover, cultures to explore and so much amazing fashion. This week's trip was an interstellar ballet extravaganza, filled with dazzling costumes, innovative choreography, and a whole lot of sparkle. Let me fill you in on the deets!

Taking Off!

As always, I kicked off the adventure with a touch of pink and a sprinkle of glamour. My latest pink sequined tutu was the perfect accompaniment to my space suit (customised, naturally, with a dazzling pink trim). I'd even managed to squeeze in a last-minute ballet class at my favourite studio in the morning to loosen up before launch. You see, staying limber is as vital in space as it is in the studio. You never know when you might find yourself floating weightlessly across the Andromeda Galaxy!

Planet Alpha Centauri - The Ballet Galaxy!

My first stop was a celestial jewel: Planet Alpha Centauri. This place is a ballet fanatic's dream come true! Imagine entire cities dedicated to the art form, shimmering dance academies that stretch across entire continents, and performances that could make even the most jaded ballerina swoon. I got my fill of star-powered spectacles. It's a real joy for a budding fashionista. The fabrics and styles they use - you wouldn't believe!

And then there were the costumes! Oh my heavens, I nearly fainted with joy. This is not to be outdone by planet earth by a long shot! The designs! The textures! The sparkle! Forget sparkly rhinestones and crystals we all love here on planet Earth - I was practically swimming in light reflecting, glowing, shimmering jewels on this trip! They even had metallic and iridescent, even iridescent tutus made with holographic sequins. Now, I know, on this little planet of ours we use a bit of glitter here and there - maybe you want a bit on the eye lids, a dusting of glitter spray across your hair. But here we're talking all over - the costumes are basically works of art. I felt like I was dancing in a living, breathing constellation! I spent hours sketching designs - all for that ultimate pink intergalactic tutu! (Oh, to dream...)

Fashion Frenzy

No trip to a new world is complete without a shopping spree. Oh, the wonders I found! After attending the planet Alpha Centauri's Ballet of the Galaxies (absolutely stunning!), I wandered through the most incredible couture boutique - you just wouldn't believe the level of glamour! It was like walking through a galaxy of diamonds, rubies and the most luxurious silks.

I even got to meet one of their renowned designers. Can you imagine? He is like the Karl Lagerfeld of planet Alpha Centauri and was a complete sweetheart. He said I had fabulous taste in tutus and promised me a new one specially designed for me! He had my size! Well, to say I was excited would be an understatement! Imagine it, folks. A pink, glittering, cosmically themed tutu! That's gonna take the 'pinktutuworld' hashtag to another level!

Back To Earth: My Inspiration Overload

Back here on Planet Earth, my head's still spinning with galactic inspiration. That planet Alpha Centauri was just amazing! You have to try it! It’s like Paris, Rome and the Moulin Rouge put together and mixed up with magic. And did you know that the local speciality, an edible nebula pastry? Delicious. I can't wait to turn my journey into a ballet spectacle on this planet Earth. The new tutu is already on its way. You won't believe this... it glows in the dark! A whole intergalactic, glittering, glowing dance performance for all you beauties on planet Earth, from my first big tour to space, it's gonna be truly special, all those jewelled costumes I have to make them all!

But don’t worry, I won’t let the trip turn my head - I’m back on Earth to show you all just how far that little pink tutu of yours can take you! My next post? You guessed it: Ballet at the Met! So, remember darlings, every day is a new opportunity to spread the magic of ballet. So, put on your pinkest tutu, hold your head high, and dance your way into the stars. Until next Wednesday, you all be shining stars.

The Week’s Must-See’s - Get Out there!

I’m just so full of cosmic inspiration and that whole out-of-this-world experience. But hey, don’t think it's only intergalactic travel I have a passion for! I have got my nose in so many new developments and cultural happenings this week. We just can’t help ourselves in planet earth, can we? Here’s what you must not miss out on this week!

London Fashion Week: September 14th-18th

The catwalk is about to come alive with colour, cut, and everything avant-garde! Fashion is going to be amazing! As a self-confessed shopaholic and ballerina (I am very very much aware, dear readers, that there are other hobbies!), fashion week just cannot be missed. From sleek ensembles and sparkling embellishments to whimsical trends, I'm here for all of it, especially when they use the fabulous fabrics from planet Alpha Centauri. Oh, to have access to the most exclusive fashion stores! London is just such an international hub. There's some seriously inspiring fashion design at work here on Planet Earth!

Royal Ballet at Covent Garden: Swan Lake

Classic ballet doesn’t get much more beautiful, exciting or elegant. This week's performance, featuring Tchaikovsky's timeless music and breathtaking choreography, will leave you breathless and starry-eyed. Every time I see this classic it always brings something new - so, that makes it always worth revisiting! I just adore the costumes too. There’s just something about this traditional tutus, their colour and grandeur and all that volume, it's always inspiring. A classic you'll adore - even if you only love your ballerina shoes and a tiny skirt. You don’t need a sparkly full tutus and a tiara! This classic is simply gorgeous.

Dance Theatre Workshop: In Awe - Opening Night August 24th, 2010

As well as enjoying traditional classics like the ballet in Covent Garden, it's all about finding that experimental contemporary dance scene for me too. I love seeing those new and exciting choreographers, getting that opportunity to have a real vision for dance that hasn't yet been expressed. This company’s programme has a big line-up of some leading choreographers right now. So it is just essential to take some time and catch that if you’re in the neighbourhood. I really enjoyed In Awe, especially how it dealt with that balance of performance and interaction, between the audience and dancer, You know me. I like that level of engagement and interaction that’s important - if I was a dancer I wouldn’t want my whole life to be just about standing still - but getting a response from the audience is very special!

*Now, who is getting excited about the future? I’m here for it! What are you doing this week, my dear readers? Give me all your dance news, fashion tips and thoughts! Until next Wednesday! *
