Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth

Post 834 - Wednesday, 20th April 2011

Oh darling, you simply wouldn't believe the adventures I've been having! As I sit here typing, sipping my pink-tinted champagne and gazing out of the spaceship window at the glittering clouds above Planet Earth, it's all just a little overwhelming! I mean, it's been such a whirl, darling, and I just have to share every single sparkly detail!

For starters, it all began on that magical day at the Royal Opera House. I'd been twirling and prancing all over London, soaking up the excitement before the opening night of The Nutcracker, a masterpiece of balletic storytelling, naturally! My pink tulle tutus were looking simply divine - one was covered in glittery snowflakes, whilst the other was a dreamy concoction of ethereal clouds and silvery stars. It was practically begging to be featured on the cover of Dance Magazine, wouldn't you say? And then it happened. Right after the curtain came down, revealing an array of twinkling lights and applauding faces, it happened! The offer, darling, the offer of a lifetime!

Suddenly, there I was, floating up, up, up above the rooftops of London, aboard my very own spaceship! Yes, darlings, it was like a fairytale, complete with stars and even a fluffy pink cloud that shimmered every time I spun a pirouette. And with a snap of the space captain's fingers, we were off, soaring through the constellations, and towards… Planet Earth! (Yes, you read that correctly!)

It's been a dizzying few weeks, a ballet of discovery! The first stop was Paris, of course, home to the iconic Opéra Garnier. We twirled across the grand staircase in an opulent pink tutu (think delicate lace, a sprinkle of champagne, and an abundance of tulle!), before making a swift stop at the famous Moulin Rouge. The sheer vibrancy of this place was a sight to behold, with feathers, glitter, and dazzling lights everywhere! The French know how to put on a good show, don't they? We enjoyed a glamorous evening with some very sophisticated space creatures (and, of course, sampled some of their delicious champagne!)

Then, oh, the adventures we had in Italy! From Florence, the home of the Medici, we danced around the Galleria dell'Accademia, marvelling at the Michelangelo David. In Rome, I indulged in the romance of the Colosseum (wearing a magnificent crimson and gold tutu, naturally) and indulged in delectable pizza (well, what's a girl to do when surrounded by such delectable delights?!)

But the true magic happened at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. We had the most wonderful audience - a mix of humans, aliens, and creatures from galaxies far, far away! There I was, twirling with such energy that the audience was left breathless, I even managed to impress a couple of particularly fussy and fashionable alien fashion critics. Talk about a coup, darling! It seems a few of my "pink tutu" designs might be appearing in next season's collections for the galactic market... I'm simply thrilled!

After that whirlwind trip, we landed back on planet Earth with a bump (and a giggle), in my home town of Derbyshire, England. I must say, the familiar green rolling hills and quaint countryside felt strangely welcoming after such a hectic adventure. Of course, I still managed to squeeze in a ballet class and a performance at my local dance studio. The kids were so enthusiastic, all eyes shining and beaming smiles at me! I simply adore watching those budding ballerinas - they are our future stars, you know!

After my successful show, I treated myself to a delightful lunch at a quaint English pub with a rather charming space captain (well, he was an engineer but very tall and handsome in his sleek blue jumpsuit!). I mean, a bit of flirtation here and there, never hurts! I may have accidentally spilled a glass of my beloved pink lemonade all over his shirt... oops!

Now I'm back on my spaceship, preparing for the next journey. My tutu bag is brimming with new styles (I’m simply addicted to clothes shopping!), and my ballet shoes are ready to twinkle in the starlight. Where will we go next? Only the universe knows! Perhaps we'll explore the moons of Saturn, perhaps we'll be waltzing in the clouds of Venus... I haven't the faintest clue! But one thing's for certain, darling, I'm prepared to wear a pink tutu wherever we go, and to share with the galaxy the joy of ballet, fashion, and, of course, the joy of the perfect pink tutu!

For now, it’s back to planet Earth! Catch me twirling in the park later, darlings. And do keep your eyes peeled, you never know when my spaceship will be landing near you! It's only a matter of time, darling, a matter of time...

See you on Wednesday, dear readers! Don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com to catch my blog each week!
